When we heard the Outlaws would be in Charlotte, we decided to hit that up and get some much needed time away. Describing our experience in one word - HORRIBLE! The dust was so bad that you couldn't see anything. We thought maybe after Friday night, they would do something to make things better for Saturday. No such luck. It was worse, and it was hard to get worse than Friday. The dust was so bad that you couldn't see the person standing beside you. You couldn't see one car on the track. As a matter of fact, you couldn't even see the race on the big screens either because the dust drowned out the lens on the camera....all you could see were shadows and dust. Absolutely the worst place I've ever been to watch a dirt track race. I don't know how the drivers were even able to see where they were going! Needless to say, I don't think we will be going back to this track any time soon. The NASCAR track is awesome....dirt track...no comparison! Two stars was pushing it...only gave that because we like the area. Very disappointed.

And this event was the championships. Stock car racing is something everyone should experience, if you like anything that goes fast. Here it's byob which is awesome. Saves money so you don't have to pay vending prices. Bring snacks, drinks, beer, blankets to sit on (bc it is a dirt track and the seats are, well dirty lol). Usually I don't wear anything nice to a dirt track but here it wasn't so bad. Also it's quick, meaning if you have ever been to Carolina speedway it's a lot different. Organized and quick to start each race. This time I had a giant corn dog and it was awesome. I will be back here for sure.

Even though it was after Christmas, it was still an awesome experience. I truly wish more people knew about because it is so worth the time the money. It's the largest Christmas expedition on the East Coast and we've had great memories both times. This is our second year going and we enjoyed our time this year more than the first. The first part is you driving in your car as you see all of the super cool light fixtures while listening to Christmas music that corresponds to the lights. The kids (and us), we're in love with the different themes that we saw along the way. Very vibrant and bold colors that really don't do it justice through a camera lens. It's something you truly do have to see in person to get the full picture. There's also a movie playing on the Jumbotron that you can listen to while you're riding around or you can park and watch the movie with your family. This year we did the VIP skip line for $96. I will say that it seems as if in the VIP there wasn't as many light fixtures while riding in the car as there was in previous years. I'm not sure if we seen less exhibits because our route was shorter. That would be our only complaint. You do pay by a car/ van so I would say if you could take as many people with you in one vehicle. Once you get to the halfway point there, there's an area where you can park and then you can get out. Here is part two where you go to all of the different vendors that are inside the heated area. There's so much to do. You can take pictures with Santa. You can get your character made until cartoon portrait . There's free events where kids can make Christmas ornaments win prizes color take pictures with the themed Christmas tree trees (that were so so cute by the way.) They had a bar for the adults and hot chocolate and popcorn for the kids. When you go outside of the tent, there's part 3, a world with outdoor activities. There is an area for Christmas carols tubing that had artificial snow. Theres bonfires with s'mores. Ann area with a bunch of food trucks to choose from. There's hundreds of photo opportunities where there are huge, beautiful light fixtures that you can walk and see along the track. It's literally something for the entire family to enjoy or even a date night if there's something that you would like to do. This is something that my family will continue to do in the years to come.

Each one seemed to have an attendant working non stop to keep them clean, stocked, and fresh. Everywhere you looked you saw someone with a bright orange shirt emblazoned with GUEST SERVICES on it. If you had even the slightest expression of confusion on your face, one of these people was right there asking if they could help in some way. It was a great time!

Other than watching Pixar's Cars, I have zero exposure to NASCAR, so I wasn't sure if it was worth visiting, but decided to visit anyways because it's popularity in the region. I bought my Starting Grid tickets online, so check-in was pretty easy. One of the first things you do is register your card with your name, and pick some identifying images and favourite drivers/teams. As you turn the corner, you'll see an huge welcome screen welcoming you by name. The first thing I did was go to High Octane Theatre, which gave me an intro to NASCAR, which was good, since I knew nothing about it. The next area was the Glory Road area, which is a neat layout of cars from the past, but is probably more interesting to NASCAR fans. It's the the next part containing the immersive experiences - specifically the race simulators and pit crew challenge that were really fun. The extra few dollars to get the Starting Grid simulator day pass was worth it. I went on the simulator multiple times and made the visit completely worth it. The next floor contains more historical artifacts and history of NASCAR. Again, as not a follower, this part was mildly interesting, but probably way more interesting for fans. Overall, I enjoyed my visit way more than I expected. The building and the exhibits are high-quality, well-designed and well laid-out. Even as someone who doesn't follow NASCAR, I appreciated the exhibits. But it's the simulators that made it really fun for me.

My 1st memories of NASCAR are that of…read moreKeith Olberman and Dan Patrick of Sportscenter fame always telling me how Dick Trickle finished each week. I started to watch it some when I moved to Indiana in the early 2000's. The 1st race I watched all the way through was when Dale Earnhardt died. Other than that, my knowledge comes from Days of Thunder, Cars and Talladega Nights. I say all that to say, I don't know much about NASCAR. The HOF has a bunch of different packages; we just did the General Admission which didn't include a whole lot of the interactive parts like simulators. The HOF has 3 different floors that spirals up a ramp with cars from the various eras. There are tons of displays with cars, trophies, gear, etc. throughout the facility. No sport has trophies as good as NASCAR. See Dover's Monster Mile trophy for reference. I like how they show the cars cut in half to show now vs the other eras so you can see how far the engineering has come. They also have a room with all the plaques and busts of the HOF members. No matter your knowledge base, the NASCAR HOF is fun. If you have kiddos or are a racer yourself, the interactive packages may be worth the investment.

But while all the work and performance centric rooms are first class, the real jewel in the complex is the Cain Center theater itself. This truely multi functional space offers "Broadway compatible" lighting, sound, print, and visual media support that runs the gamet of use from current kindergarters in a "summer camp" like setting to newly retired professional performers. For many years to come, this facility will help deliver to the greater LKN population the artistic focused support it has badly needed for so many years.
