I believe the law is to stop at the red light for 4 seconds before proceeding. This student barely slowed down. I'm pretty sure that this lesson should be discussed more in detail. read more

After failing the road test a several times with Bell South and being charged extra for pick up although they teach in our HS we changed driving schools. East Meadow has a professional staff; all very kind and helpful with appointments, reminders. Ricky was our instructor. Always on time, flexible with pick up (No Extra Charge) Was kind and had patience, reviewed all necessary skills for the road test. As I was coming out they almost backed into my front fender while also almost hitting my brother's truck. Called to complain because they shouldn't be near my area anyway. Now today on our main road they were obstructing traffic and again was inches from hitting the truck they were again trying to parallel parking behind while blocking the road. Cannot recommend East Meadow Driving School enough! I had a not-great experience with another school and had failed my road test. After just a couple of lessons with Julius, I passed my re-test with flying colors. Julius's was a calm, clear and encouraging instructor. He helped me polish my fundamental driving skills, answered my questions, and talked through how to approach the judgement calls that come up constantly on the road. So my child is taking drivers education through this company and the car he is made to drive is horrible, when he looked at the car he noticed a missing lug and as but on the rear passenger side wheel. As they were driving he heard noises coming from the car and it's drivetrain. The car is covered in dents, scratches and scrapes which to be fair should be expected. The cars should go through proper inspections, and look overs prior to and in between drivers/groups. read more

My wife is taking a 10 class refresher because she got her license 10+ years ago but never drove. She needs to learn so she can take our infant daughter to daycare locally. I want to start by saying she's taken 5/10 classes so far. Her confidence has increased but driving skills have not. In addition, and the reason for this low review is because I've had suspicions day 1 and 2 that her instructors were shaving time off her 45 min classes. I called to complain and was told "it's impossible our instructors would never do that".. which is respectable to honor and back up your instructors. So class 3 and class 4 I took pictures of instructors car arriving and leaving.. proof that EMDS was stealing 8-12 minutes from EACH class. Again I called and said I had photo proof. They said sorry this time and would handle it. class 5 rolls around and insure for shows up 8 minutes late. I call at 5 min mark and am told "sorry we'll handle it".. looks to me like they don't care if you learn.. don't care if they steal your money... and more importantly....don't care if their students ever get to safely drive their infants around.. read more

My driving instructor was Pete and I would like to say that I was lucky that I got him as my instructor. From the first to the last lesson, he was very professional, calm, and understanding. He was so pleasant, patient and knowledgeable about all driving and tricks to parallel park. I loved our chats on our drives and feel much more confident and competent as a driver thanks to his guidance. He basically taught me how to parallel park in just a few minutes during our 45 minute lesson. He taught me the importances and the little things that really mattered about the road test. He told me the tips and pointed out what I should watch out for during the road test. He makes you feel like you are just driving with another person instead of a driving instructor. In addition to teaching for the road test, he brings in real world scenarios. He taught me everything I needed to know in 6 lessons. I highly recommend this school. If I could give 0 stars I would! Last summer my daughter did drivers Ed through the school with East Meadow Driving school. I felt she did not get enough driving time so after the winter I signed her up with East Meadow driving school for 10 45 minute sessions. The 10th session included them taking her for the road test. The school told me when the instructor comes the first time give them a copy of her drivers Ed, and a copy of her 50 hour paper. They told me in the beginning to schedule 3 classes and keep 3 classes scheduled. I made my first 3. The guy came took her the first 2 times. All was good. 3 days before the next class they call me and tell me they need to reschedule. Sure no problem. she takes her third class. The fourth class is scheduled. I got a call two days before telling me the gentleman is no longer there and I need to reschedule again not thrilled that she has to change instructors, but it is what it is I get it. The new guy comes. I ask him how she's doing. She's doing great. Next 2 classes she is dropped off at 35 minutes. I call and ask why. They will look into it. They call and re schedule yet again. This time it was the manager Jules. I ask again about him dropping her early "she will look into it". She was not friendly at all. 8Th class comes (this is a span over several months because of all the class changing) I ask again how is she doing? She's doing great. Jules tells me we will call you in 2 weeks with a test date. (Almost 3 weeks later) Great! Make sure you send us the drivers Ed paper and 50 hour paper. I said I gave copies the first day like you asked. She said we would have never told you that. Where would that come from then? I get the call of her test day 7/10 we schedule the ninth class on Sunday the day before the test and the 10th class the morning of the test. On Thursday I get a call from Jules telling me they need to change her ninth class because the instructor requested off after going back-and-forth with her, telling her that her test is the very next morning and it's unacceptable. She was able to get me yet another instructor for Sunday, then she hung up on me. My daughter ended up going Sunday and taking her test on Monday. East Meadow, driving school is absolutely a waste of money and very unprofessional and I would absolutely not recommend it to anyone. read more

If you are under 18...DO NOT ...I REPEAT... DO NOT USE EAST MEADOW DRIVING SCHOOL!! You will be scammed out of your money and led to believe you can get your Juniors Driver's License without restrictions. The only way your child can get their Driver's License is by completing an approved NYS-ED class through a high school or college. The 5 hour course that East Meadow offers is to get a MV-278 but your child really needs to have a MV-285. Plus, private lessons with East Meadow Driving School does not count because it is not an approved NYSED Class. It would have been nice for East Meadow Driving School to tell me the truth when I signed him up. They said, "Oh sure he can drive alone no problem." But wait...Maybe the instructor who drove with my son in the car for several instructions would tell us. ....Nah.... East Meadow Driving School said let's take $399.00 and the $65.00 for the 5 hour course from these poor parents... Then the parents realized they have been scammed. I would give it a big zero stars if I could. They do not prepare you properly for driving. They can't even schedule appointments close to each other so it's so infrequent that it's doesn't give a child enough time to learn the proper way. Even making appointments were difficult. They tell you what you want to hear but they don't hold up to their promise. I had such a hard time with getting a road test and not only did it take so long - they complained it's COVID related that was pure BS. There were plenty appointments when u go on the website. They just don't have enough instructors to take you. My son on his last appointment had a totally different instructor that told him so many different techniques but that was not what he was taught by his other instructor. It made him so nervous he failed. I asked from the beginning to be in the car to see how they show him and they refused. Another BS they said it was an insurance issue. On the day of the road test which is your last appointment they asked me if I wanted to sit in the car to watch him drive! Well it's a little late for that. I did an boy I was freaking out on how bad that instructor was. I believe his name is Steve. He was beyond HORRIBLE. No wonder why my son failed. He was so depressed he got stomach aches and we thought something was really wrong with him. He ended up doing an endoscopy that's what they did to him. I called and called the school to complain and never heard back. Do not let your kids be subjected by this behavior. It's not worth it. Btw I even gave him extra lessons since I wasn't able to practice with them. I begged for my money back or at least make things right. They never responded. My 16- year old had Caesar for instruction and she was well prepared to take her road test. He covered all aspects of the NY State road test and gave her the confidence to believe she would pass the test. He was very encouraging and thorough in his instruction. Do not come to this school. The instructors are all bitter and RUDEEEE! They treat you like they don't want to be there. I had one lesson right before the road test and instead of correcting me the instructor is full blown yelling making me nervous right before the road test. Every time I would make a mistake he shook his head. Then, I went inside to the office to use the restroom and the worker tells me I have to "wait to be acknowledged " to come inside as if its a military school. As far as driving classes goes, over my 10 lesson package I had three instructors. Charlie, who was very personable and kind. Norm, who had the personality of a wet sock and told me to speed through a yellow light that actually wound up turning red once I got to it and didn't teach me anything. And Meg, who was very informational, very funny, and also kind. I bought this lesson package for myself to further inform myself on how to pass my road test. Thankfully I did pass. I believe the school played a big part in that and I'm happy with the positive experiences I had. The reason I give it only three stars is because of the last experience I had. Both Meg and a lady I spoke to on the phone had told me that because I DID NOT schedule the exam through the East Meadow Driving School, I scheduled it on my own and used my own car, that I was supposed to receive a small amount of money in the mail. I called yesterday to inquire about it only to be greeted with the rudest women I have ever encountered in customer service. I've seen other people write about Anna's terrible attitude on here too. So my message to this school is: I really believe that your school is helpful to people like me who don't have the option to go out and practice with a family member or friend.. BUT. If you're going to own a school you cannot be disorganized like this and the staff you hire is extremely important to keep you guys in business, Anna should not be in customer service, and Norm is not fit to be an instructor. I just passed my driving test, all thanks to sherry!!! Before sherry was my instructor, I took 6 lessons with someone else, took the test & failed; I was so ill prepared & didn't even realize! After requesting a new instructor, I was given sherry & am so thankful for her!! Her focus is on safety & as a nervous driver, she helped me to feel at ease & capable of passing. She taught me things the previous instructor hadn't & explained exactly what I needed to fix to pass the test. I took 5 lessons with sherry in a week & a half, practiced on my own, & passed. Furthermore, she was able to answer all of my questions, even if she had to think about it or research and get back to me. Sherry is very personable, knowledgeable, respectful, & instills in you the confidence to get your license. I am so grateful for her expertise! (I am 29 years old & was always too nervous to drive. On my third lesson, the instructor Tommy, found out my age and told me "now that I know you're legal, watch out" and made a weird hand/arm gesture to me. It made me incredibly uncomfortable, and I no longer felt safe trying to get my license. I already paid in full, so I am unsure how to continue from here! Avoid this driving school at all cost, They don't even deserve a one star. First of all I bought my package months in advance and was told there would be a 6-8 week waiting list. I was patient and agreed to wait. I finally got to start and did 3 lessons. I bought the package with 6. When they were scheduling my lessons they decided to do 1 lesson per week. Although I didn't like that idea I still went through. Fast forward to 2 weeks before my driving test, I call and ask when am I going to have my next lesson. I let them know my availabilities are on weekends. They schedule me in with a different instructor and tell me he's gonna pick me up on Sunday. Sunday comes and I get a no show. I wait outside for an extra 15 minutes and decide to call the school. No one picked up and I left a message. They reply the next day and tell me my instructor was feeling very sick and that they "ATTEMPTED" to leave a voice message. This is so frustrating because I've been so patient since the beginning. They tell me in order to schedule for the next weekend I must call on Friday to see if there's any cancellations. I called today and was asked who my instructor was. I told her his name and she says he's all booked up. I let her know that I don't mind having a different instructor and am worried about my test which is in a few days. She proceeds to cut me off and tell me there's no availablity for Sunday. So I ask her ok when is the next Availability and she says she doesn't know. At this point I've had enough and realized that this driving school only cares about money. I'm tired of dealing with the horrible costumer service and the BS lies. I reply with what do you mean you don't know, check the schedule, isn't it your job to do something about it. Then she gets the crazy attitude through the phone and hangs up on my face. Overall, I just want you guys to take this as a warning to not waste your time to get scammed. I don't understand why they have such unprofessional people working at the front desk. They treat people as if you didn't pay for this service. All I ask is for you guys to give me a clear availability and you guys only care about the money. They don't even try and work with your schedule, they just say there's no availability when in reality they don't have enough driving instructors. E M driving school handles drivers ed for my sons school and my interaction directly with them was limited until we scheduled a last minute, Saturday road test. I spoke with Sachi who was awesome. Even though his test was scheduled during the time when most instructors have either drivers ed or private lessons, Sachi was able to work with instructor "Charlie" so my son could have a refresher lesson plus a ride to the test (he passed). Sherry was my instructor and couldn't ask a better teacher! I kinda had some fear to drive and Sherry give me all the courage i needed. She also gives theory first, then waiting you practice. She even has some little toy cars to explain you the angles etc. She did everything much easier for me and i passed the road test at my first try. I definitely recommend her!!! read more
