Didn't know this company had been bought out by a california company and that explains the sudden negative service and low rate staff at the tijeras east mountain transfer station AND the raising of prices to double what they were last time I was there maybe a month ago. I thought this place was still run by the county. I had a horrible experience today with a guy named vincent at the tijeras transfer station. If I was his boss he would have been fired on the spot for an atrocious attitude. Instead of explaining the raise in rates, new ownership, etc he berated me with not knowing the policies of his department. I told him I had been coming there since 1996 and had never been charged that for a short bed load of bagged household trash and why now all of a sudden. He never attempted to explain just acted like an entitled DEI employee with a nasty attitude. Apparently as per another review, has been bought out by Universal Waste Systems. read more

Worst company ever. They left a pile of dog shit, paper, grease, nails, broken glass and some baby diapers all over our street today, along with trash from other places...none of it is ours. We have no baby. I called to tell the company about it and the lady that answers the phone insists that it is other people littering. She tells me people have been littering in these remote neighborhoods and the police have been notified. This is not litter. It is a pile of other people's garbage dumped out of the truck. Took me 45 minutes to clean our portion of the street, but it is scattered all the way down the road, When I tried to tell this woman, it was not "litter", she wanted to talk over me and when I asked her to simply listen, she hangs up on me. HANGS UP ON ME. Who does that in customer service? Unfortunately, they are the only disposal company but their 1.9 out of five stars is an earned rating and entirely accurate. They have been unwilling to be fair with us the entire time. Whenever I've had to call and make a complaint, we're always waved off and many excuses are made. So rude. We had a repair person here, God forbid on trash day. I didn't know they parked near the trash bin. So they didn't pick up. There was about 6 feet clearance. Unbending and uncompromising as usual, refused to pick up. They get out of the truck anyways and retrieve it from the same spot. Not this time. Then acted nasty when we called, too. Making excuses and acting all offended. They are now setting our trash bins in front of a neighbor's property, almost in their driveway. I have to walk about 40 feet to retrieve it from the usual spot it's been for well over a decade. Not sure wth that's all about. They insist, with a big fat sticker on top of the bin, that we have it placed in exactly the correct position. And we do. Yet they throw ours down or put it somewhere far from the house. It's becoming really quite ridiculous. And judging by the other comments, they clearly do not care for their customers. Driving way too fast down dirt roads and just throwing the containers in the general direction of the house. They also take money under the table to pick up extra stuff that the company probably doesn't even know about. Oh, the irony of this being a garbage business... read more

We have been fighting with EMD for years and now when I complained I was told to wait for a call from California from Universal Waste Systems. They are out of California. Just what we need. A California business in our small town. Found a great local company. Buy local not Californian. read more

There is NO customer service, there is just a woman who is rude, says nothing is her fault cause she just works in the office and lies. This woman told me that they take photos of your home if you complain and then hangs up on you once you complain. Management is impossible to get to. When service is requested, NOTHING happens. Price has gone up for horrible value now. Pay more for missed pick up of trash then no response following. Take your own trash to the transfer station, it is WAY cheaper than paying this company to just take your money with no idea of what service means. 1/12/24 - The roads continue to be plowed daily and 2WD vehicles are using them, but E. Mtn Disposal, since Universal Waste bought them out, has picked up my trash once in the last 5 weeks. I call them, they only apologize but do not actually provide trash service anymore. They only consistently send the bills for the service they are contracted to provide weekly but actually don't. The best the could do is credit me for 1 week out the 4 weeks they haven't picked up my trash. They are ripe pickings for a competitor to put them out of business. read more

I have no complaints on the actual pickup, always on-time. My only complaint is that they won't take online payments which is extremely inconvenient. You have to mail in a check or pay over the phone, but no one answers the phone, and today, the mailbox is full. They will call you back when you're able to leave a message, but they call back from a number different than the main number, so I missed their call back and now the mailbox is full. Other than that, they are really friendly and pick-up is smooth and on-time. read more

I've used East Mt. Disposal for 20+ years and I have ZERO complaints. Prices remain affordable. Pickup is reliable. And customer service has always been polite, prompt and professional. I think people are much quicker to complain than they are to praise. It's not easy running a business, finding reliable help, and dealing with the public. This company does fine by me! read more

We have had East Mountain Disposal for nearly the entire 31 years we have lived off 337 and have never ever had a problem with their service. I don't understand some of the negative reviews, but I can just tell you that up here in the Raven Road area this company and its staff have been great. No complaints in three decades. read more

I recently switched to the service to save money. The prices they quoted me over the phone were never the price as they charged of course. In addition, they raise their rates I missed immediately after I started with them with no forewarning. I canceled my service for recycling and they tried to tell me I needed to pay a cancellation fee. Are they decided I would just cancel my service with them all together and so after only a couple of months of service they came and picked up their bins and I canceled. They did not send me back my deposit on the bin. When I called to inquire about it they were rude and obnoxious. Poor service with a hefty price tag. Can't believe a word you told when you talk to people at the office. read more

Did not receive a bill in the mail this quarter so missed a payment. $20 late charge and they didn't pick up our garbage this week, even though we've been customers since 2010. I'd set up a regular recurring payment but my bill has changed several times over the last year with not notice until the bill arrives, if it arrives. And concur, very hard to reach anyone by phone. read more

Last few yrs of service has been terrible. Missed collections, not timely on returning calls, receptionist is very rude lacking customer service skills. We had a few late payments due to issues with our mail box company. Instead of a courtesy call they just don't pick up your trash. Another incident occurred when I requested a name change due to life changes which created another late bill. The receptionist went on and on about her personal life problems raising a child as a single mom. She never really heard my concern. . The last few months became out of control with the trash collections person who routinely rooted through my dumpster pulling things out throwing them on my property. They claimed a broken leg off a coffee table, old dog bed, broken broom, oral syringes without needles, we're against thier " rules " yet these don't fall in the prohibited areas. They accused me of throwing needles in the trash but never really looked to see they were only oral syringe. On one occasion i had items thrown in my dumpster by passersby. How was I to know. They were confusing to work with constantly guessing what they might pull out of my trash. Without notice they pulled my dumpster and then lied to me that they were short handed and not sure what happened. 7 days later they returned my 5 calls and e-mail stating my service was terminated. yes they have a right to cancel my service but they didn't have the business etiquette to let me know in advance. Don't waste your time with this company. I'll be making a BBB report as well. read more

This company has the worst customer service. They did not pick up my trash because they said I did not pay my bill. I never received a bill. When I called them, (there were two different numbers) they told me it was my problem because every bill has a due date of when the bill is due. If I never received the bill then how would I know the due date? I pay them the minute I receive the bill every single time. I always pay before the due date, but they refused to waive the late fee. When I ask to speak with someone higher up, they repeated the same message, then proceeded to hang up on me. When I called back, they refused to answer. This is not how a business who cares about their customers conducts business. They have a monopoly here, since Mora was purchased by Universal Waste. They have been subcontracted to pick all of Mora's customers, so there are no other companies to work with. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Worst customer service ever. read more

I'm still learning when my days are and what they'll take but they're really the only company in the area. I'm glad there is one, honestly.

Worst disposal service I have ever had in any of the rural areas where I have lived. Two inches of snow and they cannot collect trash from their containers that many Mountain residents have to transfer up to 1/2 mile from their residence to the street, which is usually plowed by the time they normally make their pickup. Previous company would make pickup every scheduled pickup day with the exception of several occasions when our mountain area received over 12 inches of snow in a 24 hour period. Crooked County Officials took the collection away from the previous company and awarded the trash contract to East Mountain Disposal, a totally inept company. read more

Worst trash collection service ever. My father used their service. We routinely experience problems. They will happily take your money, then "forget" to collect the trash for weeks at a time. Followed all of their rules, they take other people's trash on the street. They will even occasionally empty your trash on the side of the road and leave it. Pretty difficult to be much worse than that. read more

I'm giving them two Stars because they have improved over the past year, I'm telling you though, if you Get 1 inch of snow on your road, your trash will not be picked up. Was able to get down my road in a very small 4-door 4-cylinder sedan, when I called East mountain disposal to ask why my trash wasn't picked up, I was told they weren't going to put their driver's life in danger, due to the road condition, I thought she was joking, and then I realized oh my gosh she's serious, I was then told to take my trash to the dump myself. They have contracts with all the other trash companies now so you probably will not have a choice. Good luck to you all oh, you're going to need it read more

Well, they took over my trash service from El Mora, since then their drivers have passed my house and my trash about twice a month. So I pay them for half the service, my ring camera shows then driving on by without so much as stopping to look at my trash. When I call they say the drivers don't see trash out! So my video evidence time stamped and dated and gps calibrated. read more

We live in the Steeplechase Subdivision and have been w/EMD for over 20 years----we have never been disappointed with the service.

East Mountain Disposal doesn't know what "customer service" is. In fact, just call them, after hours, at 505 286-4798 so you can listen to the disdainful message they have for their customers. That message is a great representation of their overall "attitude" towards the very people to employ them. If they change their message before you get a chance to call and listen (I'm sure they will after they read this review) the lady adds a "come on guys" to the end of her message after she states what time "sharp" that you should have your trash out. read more

Their Customer Service and work ethic is terrible. Lady who answers the phone is very rude. They pick and choose what days and times they pick up your trash which is never consistent and when your trash doesn't get picked instead of fixing the problem they blame you for it. if i had more choices to choose from I would be changing to another company. worse experience ever... read more

Consistently miss picking up our garbage and argue saying the trashcan needs to be out by 7 in the morning, which I have it out well before 7. When and if they pick up the trash it is always late afternoon. Driver lies and says the trash not out when they come. I work from home and I can see EVERYONE who comes in and out of the neighborhood. I have caught them driving past many times and always have to call to have them come back to pick it up. Sometimes they don't even do that. Just fed up. read more

I have lived in the area for 6 years and they have always been great. Our first driver was so kind. He often gave the dogs treats and when I was pregnant he always made sure our trash was picked up weather I got it to the street or not. They have always taken good care of us. read more

This business has a monopoly on east mountain trash pick up and they certainly take full advantage of that fact. The drivers we have dealt with are good but the office/owner people are just plain mean and rude. They charge a lot and then add extra charges for everything including paying your bill over the phone. They deposited my check then insisted that they never got it and treated me like it was my fault. She wanted me to go to my bank and retrieve the hard copy of endorsed check after I supplied a copy from my online bank account. If you a a day late paying "in advance" they charge you $12 and if you don't get a bill its still your responsibility to know how much and when to pay it. read more

I've been using East Mountain Disposal for years without any problems or concerns. This Christmas and New Years pick ups were affected by very deep snow. They made it up the road with 4x4 trucks and got the trash. We appreciate that. Thank you. read more
