With each I have received relief, but each has taken a lot of time for relief and then my back flares up again. A friend suggested acupuncture which made me a bit nervous not knowing much about this treatment type. I started researching the many providers in the SLC area and decided to try Pain Free Acupuncture. Rachel was great to put me at ease and explain the treatments. I am thrilled with the results of the treatments as for the first time in a long time, I get up in the morning without back pain! I also shared a pain in my wrist and forearm due to an accident and past tendinitis, and after treatments my pain is gone! I highly recommend treatments from Rachel at Pain Free Acupuncture and I plan to maintain my treatments for a pain free life.

I have been using Acupuncture for a long while. It all started when I was ski jumping in Utah,…read morepracticing aerials on the trampoline to get my air-sense down before I took it up on the ramp. I changed my trick in mid-air, a big No-No, and blow out my knee on the landing. Spotters saw my knee distally dislocated about 2" then pop right back in. Luck y for me it did, since the femoral artery is right there. In any case, the Team said.. Go see Tao Tan. I arrived. He was a short fat warm china man. He said, "You have cold body." You only take hot drinks while you recover." He popped the needles in, and I HATE needles, and I went to sleep for hours. He woke me up, rubbed his hands to build up Chi, and said, "I put energy into you brother" and he practically knocked me back when he laid his hands on my belly. It took 4 visits and 3-4 weeks of heat/cold and light PT, and I was back on the ski ramp. My knee has been solid ever since. So a few months later, I was on The Canyons SKi Patrol. We were doing pre-season maintenance and setup. Bumping around on an early season thin snow layer is hard on the joints. The rocks are just under the snow. THis is why the resort is not Open. Duh. Well the good thing is Ski Patrol and Maintenance crews get to ride the snowmobiles around, and we get to ski down if we want, the resort all to ourselves for a few weeks. The bad news is that it's rough on the body, and my wrists had had enough of it. I ended up with De Quervain's tenosynovitis in both wrists, so bad in fact that I could hardly drive a car, much less pick up a pint of beer! The docs were all agreed about cutting my arms open. They put me in a cast so I could travel back east for Thanksgiving, and then I was going under the knife. While back homein the Southeast, it dawned on me that I should go let Tao Tan have a look. 5 visits over a period of 3 weeks, and I was cured. I mean CURED. That was in 1998, and I STILL have practically no problems with my hands.. people who know me will agree I am very active, so there is no way I could still have that level of pain. Besides why would I lie? The whole point of writing this is to tell you stories of how you could get some relief for not much money or time with acupuncture. I was poking around on the internet to find his contact info.. it seems he is also now teaching! I am glad of it. He would be a good teacher.

One odd motion and wham!…read moreKnee pain :( Granted, years of wearing high heels, plus I am going to blame driving stick shift, well...my left knee decided to call time out. The knee pain was so bad that it affected my ability to exercise and some days, my left knee refused to bend. Tired of taking ibuprofen, I asked a friend about acupunture and I was referred to Mindy Ming Huang in Sandy. Yes, I am afraid of needles. Yes, I was told more than once to go see a doctor for my knee pain. But I am so glad that I was able to schedule an appointment for acupuncture, and it worked in ONE session! Currently it appears that Mindy works in a residential neighborhood but not to worry, she has her license and all credentials hanging on her wall. She took all my vitals and spent time to triage, then it was needle time LOL There's a clean patient table to lie on and everything is sterile. I knew to dress comfortably because Mindy would be working on my knee. There were also a few needles carefully placed in my left foot. Once the tiny needles were in place, Mindy used a safe heating lamp to keep my skin warm and it probably helps with the energy flow. This acupuncture session was more than comfortable. So comfortable that I fell asleep. I was probably napping for a good 20 to 30 minutes. Then I heard Mindy's voice and she came back to the patient table to turn off the heating lamps and remove all the needles. No blood and no bruises :) At the end of my first session, I had zero knee pain and full mobility of my left knee. Not only that, I felt extremely relaxed. Mindy gave me a bottle of water and a few minutes to get my bearings as she accepted my credit card payment and provided me with a receipt. Trust me, it's no fun living in pain or lack of mobility. In one miracle acupunture session back in February, Mindy relieved my knee pain. The following month, I had a short trip and after the flight, I started to get an ear ache. Went to a doctor and was prescribed antibiotics for an ear infection. Well after the dosage was finished, I was having vertigo, headaches, inner ear pain, and some mild jaw pain. Without hesitation, I called Mindy and asked if acupuncture would help me relieve all of this. As luck should have it, she said yes, and had an appointment time the very next day. I arrived to my appointment and told her what transpired with my ear ache. Within minutes, I was back on her patient table, she carefully placed all the needles where they needed to be, and again, I fell asleep under her cozy heating lamps. By the end of this ONE acupuncture session for my ear, I no longer had the issues that were there before my appointment. I felt like a million bucks! Thank you Mindy! You removed my fear of needles, and you relieved both my knee and my ear pain. After the acupuncture sessions, I feel great! I am a firm believer that acupuncture WORKS!!
