The bank accepted her check deposit and gave her multiple different dates for when the funds would be available. She was told one date at first, then later given another, which caused a lot of confusion, stress, and financial hardship. Even after repeated questions, the bank never gave a clear explanation for the hold or why the release date kept changing. This caused real problems, including difficulty meeting financial obligations. Customers should be able to count on accurate information, timely access to legitimate funds, and clear communication from their bank. Getting conflicting information about a deposit without a proper explanation is unacceptable. What makes this even more disappointing is that my girlfriend has served this country, and she still was treated this way. That is not the kind of customer service anyone should expect from a financial institution handling people's money. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a bank.

I would advise everyone to check their statements every week, as Eastern Bank works to slide in illegal hidden fees. Most recently, I was checking my account, where I saw a $10. Debit charge to my account for insufficient funds. I was a bit perplexed, as I have ALWAYS had enough money to cover my mortgages every month, with always a little extra left into the account. I went down to the bank on 6/7/26 and reported this inaccurate finding. No one in the bank could tell me why they had debited the money, but filed a report and said that someone would get back to me first thing Monday morning. Of course no one did get back to me,and I was unable to get through their AI animated system. So, once again, I had to take time out of my schedule to go into the office.(3 days later) I met with a manger, who also could not figure it out and then she met with another manager who also didn't know what was going on. Then some mystery person from one of the branches said that the $10. 00 was for a late payment in 2024. Totally not true, as I have NEVER had a late payment in my life relative to my mortgage. They were still going to investigate, holding on to that $10.00, that the bank had illegally debited from my account. Then, word came they were going to give me back the one time courtesy of a reversal and put the $10.00 back into my account. I have demanded an explanation of the 2024 false claim with documentation. It is not the $10. 00 that is important, but the fact that these big banks and corporations can debit your account and get away with it. Just think how much money they are making doing this to their customers. I have had several issues with Eastern Bank relative to poor customer service. No one gets back to you when you submit a complaint......they only send their survey with no personal contact. Everyone check your statements, as it looks like AI is going through accounts and debited money illegally.

I have been a member of WFFCU since I was 16, I am now 39. Today a check being held for 2 business days is now going to be held for 5 days and there is no clear reason why. After 23 years, 1 mortgage, a heloc, 3 personal loans and 2 car loans, Ill be closing my account. Its not worth not having access to my money when I want it.

I like that the bank appears extra clean and well kept. I like the fact that the drive thru is large and has easy access. I do not like that they refused to put money in my daughters account because I did not know her debit card number. I have been to different TD Branches and they had no problem doing such, actually they were very pleased to assist me. I wasted a good 20 minutes waiting to locate my daughter debit card number for no reason at all. FYI,,,,,,, I WAS GIVING YOU MONEY.....NOT TAKING IT!!!!!! I am the treasurer of a small nonprofit located in Saugus. For many years we had both a checking…read moreand a savings account at Salem Five. The savings account was money set aside for a future use and there were no transactions in that account for several years. Without informing us, Salem Five sent this money to the state's unclaimed properties division. After I was notified by the state that they had received this money from Salem Five, I went to the branch and was told that they have a policy that any funds with no activity for three years was sent to unclaimed properties. They said it was all part of a computer algorithm and they had nothing to do with it at the branch. The fact that we had an active checking account at the same bank should have told them that this was not an abandoned account. Salem Five had our correct contact information on file yet failed to warn us that they were taking this action. This is banking malpractice in my mind - reckless disregard for their customers' funds. We are closing our remaining account and moving the funds to another bank. Don't trust your money with them!

I had the worst experience, I had made a deposit in cash, the teller counts the money on the machine a couple of times, and he told me I was short of money, I told him to give me my money back, I counted it, and I was missing money. I have asked the Assistant Manager to balance the teller's money and she just checked his computer she did not count his money to make sure he balanced. I have requested the video when the teller was counting my money to the assistant manager, branch manager, reginal and district manager, I was told they cannot show me the video. I am very frustrated; I trusted this branch with my money and in front of my face my money disappears and now the bank does not want to help me by showing me the video. Also, in the past I had made a cash deposit and the teller told me I was missing money, I told the teller to give me my cash back and I counted it, and I found the missing money. It seems that tellers are used to telling customers they are missing money, when making cash deposits. This branch cannot be trusted.
