After months of waiting for this office to reopen following flood damage, they may have gotten a facelift, but it's still the same old problems underneath. This office is consistently understaffed, overbooked, and completely overwhelmed. There's really no such thing as an "emergency appointment" here because it can still take days before anyone actually sees you. My daughter went in with an infected impacted tooth, was prescribed antibiotics, and then referred to one of their recommended specialists for oral surgery. The problem? The specialist can't see her for another month. How does it make sense to tell someone with an active infection to wait a month for surgery? Unfortunately, this is just one of many disappointing experiences we've had. They will cancel your appointment through a text message without hesitation and then act as though they're doing you a favor by offering another appointment 3-5 months later. It's honestly laughable at this point. I'm counting down the days until open enrollment because I cannot wait to leave this DPO plan through Aetna that has essentially locked me into this office. I'll gladly pay for a PPO if it means having the freedom to go to a dentist that is actually accessible, organized, and patient-focused. To make matters worse, my other daughter had what should have been a simple cavity filling and has been in pain ever since. Maybe if this office didn't constantly cancel cleaning appointments, we could have caught the issue earlier before it turned into a cavity in the first place. I had an appointment back in February, however, it was canceled due to a flood. I called to check up on getting rescheduled and they said they would contact me for an appointment. It is now June 18th and I have not heard for this office. At this point, I am looking for another office. Hopefully, they will get things back in order. I'm giving this place two stars--one of which goes to Sally and the doctor who examined me. I had been going to a different dental office in Burlington for years, but when my insurance changed and my regular dentist was no longer in-network, I chose Eastern Dental of Marlton somewhat at random--despite already having reservations, as I'm very familiar with the area. Upon arrival, I noticed a clear difference in how patients were being treated. I observed staff coming out from behind the front desk to warmly and respectfully greet white and non-Black patients in the lobby. However, when it was my turn to be called, the tone shifted drastically. I was treated with the same indifference you'd expect if you were ordering a sandwich at a fast food counter--cold, rushed, and impersonal. During my cleaning, I was initially assigned to a Hispanic hygienist named Rob (or Robert), who was unnecessarily rude, passive-aggressive, and condescending. He raised his voice, invaded my personal space, and even spat while talking--all without wearing a mask, despite everyone else in the office following proper protocols. After addressing his behavior and requesting someone else, I was transferred to Sally, who was the complete opposite: kind, professional, and excellent at her job. To Black patients--please stay alert and advocate for yourselves if you experience behavior like what I encountered with Rob. Respect in a healthcare setting should never be conditional. read more

I had a 4:30 PM appointment today at Eastern Dental and arrived on time. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. I wasn't called back until 5:15 PM. The technician who brought me to the exam room didn't introduce herself or even make eye contact, which felt very impersonal and unwelcoming. Thirteen minutes later, the dentist came in, also without introducing herself. She performed a brief, one-minute exam and said someone would be in shortly to take me for my cleaning. After waiting another 18 minutes with no update, I decided to leave. At the front desk, I informed them that while I had seen the doctor, I would not be staying for the cleaning due to the excessive wait time -- I had already been there for an hour and 20 minutes. The person at the desk responded with, "I don't blame you," and asked if I wanted to reschedule. I declined and let them know I would be switching providers. I've been a patient at Eastern Dental for over 15 years, but the service has noticeably declined. Long wait times have become the norm -- during my last visit, I was there for over an hour and 15 minutes, although at least I received the full exam, cleaning, and X-rays then. Sadly, this latest experience confirmed that it's time to find a new dentist. read more

My normal dentist did not accept my insurance when I changed jobs so I was on the hunt for someone new. I decided to give Eastern Dental a try for an annual cleaning, but was really unimpressed. They appear to make money by the volume of patients. There was a lot of people in the waiting room. I arrived 10 minutes early to my appointment but had to wait over 30 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. The pressure to move people through as fast as possible was disconcerting. I got x-rays and the technician forgot to turn the machine on in her rush to get me through. The dentist was hovering at the door while I was getting x-rays, anxious to move me along to the chair the second I was done. I came for a cleaning but I was surprised that the dentist was the one that did it. (I'm used to a hygienist.) Hand tools were used instead of the more modern ultrasonic cleaners I came to expect. (In my opinion, hand tools are inferior unless you have a skilled doctor or a long appointment time.) I think he spent 10 minutes on my cleaning and exam total before I was sent on my way. It didn't feel like they really spent ample time to give a proper examination. I was a new patient and no attempt at understanding my medical history or going over it was attempted. I drove the conversation in the chair to make sure everything was properly looked at. The doctor was nice and charismatic but he seemed rushed and my interaction was surface-level. No recommendations were made on anything I needed to improve. Thankfully, my dental insurance has changed back to a plan my old dentist accepts. So, I went to them yesterday to claim my last cleaning for this year, and I am reminded how night and day the quality of care is between them and Eastern Dental. At my normal dentist yesterday, I spent an hour there getting a very thorough cleaning and exam, and despite getting a cleaning only 3 months before at Eastern Dental, the hygienist had a LOT of work to do, she remarked, and the state of my teeth was not up to her cleaning standard. I left with recommendations for a mouth wash as they had noticed the beginnings of gum inflammation, and a cavity to keep an eye on. All of this was missed by Eastern. It's possible this all could have presented itself within the 3 months between, but I would be surprised given my hygienist's reaction. She made a remark that based on my condition, she thought I hadn't gotten a cleaning at all this year despite just having one at Eastern... In terms of what is "good"... getting an appointment was easy enough, the process to fill out paperwork was seamless, and the reception desk was kind. But I can't in good faith give more than 2 stars knowing how little time they spend with patients, and the quality of care I was given. I felt like a number at Eastern Dental and I wouldn't trust them if I had a real emergency. The office seems profit-focused instead of patient-focused. read more

Again , another wonderful visit to the best Dental care office in the area. Dr. Swartz had to pill a molar that was giving me problems for sometime now. He had it numbed and pulled, which was painless in less that 30 minutes from beginning to end. Eastern Dental is the best in the area as far as I am concerned. Second bad experience. The scheduling department is not in line with the office department. The office staff do not have organized or updated information, in spite of updating the office repeatedly. The dentists themselves are very young. The dentists can be seen wearing Croc shoes or flip-flops. The dentist staff and quality of care is similar to a young team of muli-level marketing college students who can be heard complaining about the last patient while half heartedly addressing the current patient with a "next up" mentality. I have been arguing with the outsourced payment department of Eastern for 2 years. I was told that my insurance would cover a process known as scaling or deep cleaning. My insurance company claims this process was not necessary and would not cover the cost. Eastern said they would re submit. They never did I now owe over 600.00 and I am being threatened with a collection agency. read more

Even had one tech get nasty with another. At time of appointment, Dr came out and called "huddle"... then everyone disappeared for 15 minutes as phones rang off the hook. Had to have Xrays taken AGAIN because my first set was dated two years ago even though I didn't live in NJ. Got a refill of filling that fell out and after two numbing needles I needed a third because first two were wearing off due to Dr doing patient in between my "waiting for numb" time. Only highlight is watching how many laps the Dr does around the office floor pattern while he waits for girls to tell him where next. will NEVER go back... nor any of my family. Dear Sir or Madam: My son had a Dental appointment with the oral surgeon for the extraction of 3 Wisdom teeth yesterday Thursday, September 21.2023 at 8:00 am.Eatser Dental -Marlton Office. My son and I arrived early for his appointment and were greeted by an excellent nurse with extraordinary courtesy. She informed us about the procedure and told us to sit and wait for our turn. I got home I realized that I had forgotten the excuse for his absence from classes and returned to the Dental office. I approached the front desk and explained to a nurse that my son had a dental extraction and that he needed an excuse for his absence from school. Since I was not able to see the surgical team nurses who participated in my son's procedure, I asked her if she knew how many teeth were removed during my son's dental procedure. I wanted to be sure that the three wisdom teeth were removed. She called the office administrator who arrived with an unacceptable attitude and told me to move to the hallway attached to the waiting area. The gentleman who identified himself as the office administrator sat behind a plexiglass area. We were close to the common waiting area for patients. When he asked me in a very aggressive way what the problem was. With a low tone to prevent other patients from finding out my son's personal information, I asked him how many teeth were removed. He yelled at me that he didn't understand and repeated it out loud, I could hear him imitating my Hispanic accent in an extremely offensive manner he ridiculed me in front of other patients,I cordially asked him to come closer to me so I could hear him better and to ask him the question about how many of my son's teeth were removed. He stood up enraged and shouted and told me what the problem was, he had his wisdom tooth removed I respectfully answered that I didn't want to continue talking to him with his defiant attitude. He screamed "Leave the office and I responded "NO I AM NOT LEAVING, I then responded, "If you asked me in a polite way I would then leave the office". He yelled at me "Leave the office go to that lady so she can give you the medical excuse for your son". I told him "Your attitude does not represent leadership but rather a weakness". I immediately walked out in a calm manner, picked up my son's medical excuse, and left the office towards my car. The office manager violated my civil rights by ridiculing me and mentioning private information about my son out loud close to a room full of patients. Be prepared, the general dentistry area checks what dental insurance you have before they offer you an appointment. No matter how long you've been a patient, the minute your insurance changes, and it's not one of the better insurances providers, they suddenly can't make an appointment for you within the next 2 months. You'll be told to call back on the 1st of the upcoming month and, "Hopefully we'll have a slot open". Ridiculous. The orthodontist side though - LOVE them. I'm always able to get an appointment and have NEVER been told to call back in a month to see if they can fit your child in. read more

This place is horrific. Upon arriving for a routine checkup, my first impression was that Eastern Dental is the fast food industry of dental practices. They churn people in and out with haste and insensitivity. It felt like the whole place only existed to scam as many people a day as possible. When I was called back, I was met with sounds of agony coming from an unattended patient a few chairs over. Then I met my dentist. He was an incredibly rude and arrogant guy in his mid twenties who claimed to be in charge of the whole operation. After boasting about his status, he began by yelling and barking orders. Then he informed me that he would need to extract five teeth! I thought it was some kind of joke. He told me he would give me a single shot of Novocain but that's all I would get because that's all my insurance would cover. I got up and left, made an appointment with a real dentist and as expected, I was told all my teeth were perfectly fine. read more

I had an awesome experience at Eastern Dental of Marlton. Dr. Paliouras is the best! I went to the office because I bit down on a pit from an olive (not knowingly of course) The pain was unbelievable. I wasn't sure if I had broken the tooth or not. The pain was not constant, but I definitely could not eat on that side of my mouth. Even using a Waterpik flosser was unbearable. I was fortunate to be able to get an appointment Friday morning. From the time I arrived the atmosphere was great. Beginning with Ms. Liz, everyone was friendly and helpful. Dr. Schwarz took me in for the initial check of my tooth. He did the x-rays and explained what a stress fracture was and what it meant going forward. He explained that I would have to have root canal surgery. (Words I could have gone the rest of my life without hearing) He took me out to Mr. Naeem to get scheduled. Mr. Naeem was very thorough with his explanation of what would happen next. When he was finished telling me what the next steps would be, he told me that they had a doctor present that could do the root canal for me. He asked Dr. Paliouras and he was able to do the procedure that day. Dr. Paliouras explained every step of the way what was happening and what I should expect. Dr. Paliouras made me feel at ease. I felt absolutely no pain (not even from the needles). Ms. Janelle was awesome. She took the time to fully explain the next few weeks and what I should expect. Been using this location for my family for 10 years. The staff is very friendly and the waiting time is minimal. This is a pretty well run office and the communication is great. Dr. Schwartz is a good communicator and will answer all your questions. He takes whatever time is needed w ea. patient. I also like how that keep real track of your requests. All of the hygienists are great but my daughter has grown up with Sally Giunta. so she's our goto and it's just great to have that history seeing the same person. This place is horrendous. The dentists are detached, rush around from one patient to another, don't introduce themselves properly, rush through explanations and actual procedures, and are generally cold fish. The dental assistants, who in my experience are the more personable staff in dental offices, are also aloof. The front desk staff are just as bad. They make you feel like you are bothering them when you ask the slightest question. The place is a dental patient "mill" that seems to want to cram as many people in for appointments and grind them out rapid-fire, and tries-unsuccessfully-to juggle all those patients at once. The result is that every time I go there, I sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes and then in a dentist chair for another 30 minutes before my procedure begins. Oh, and the billing staff care nothing for your billing woes that might arise, as you navigate the shark-infested waters of the American medical insurance system. No sympathy, no mercy, no offer of help with your questions or solutions to your problems. All cold hard fact and by the book procedure. No attention to customer service. No humanity. A doctor told me I could go to my old periodontist but now they're telling me I need to go to their in-house perio. Now I owe my old perio a big payment that insurance won't cover, of course. In addition, making an appointment is also a nightmare. Calling them to make appointments makes you feel like you've committed a capital offense. Every time you make an appointment, they tell you that they are really booked up and start offering you dates that are months away. I've never been offered an appointment that wasn't at least a month away. Stay away from this uncaring, unfeeling "assembly line" dental practice. You're not a patient, you're a source of revenue. They are clearly taking advantage of our modern world where people switch insurances very often due to job change/loss. While you're still getting used to your new insurance, they won't help you avoid pitfalls that could cost you big bucks. Way to take advantage, Eastern Dental. read more

I am only giving this a 3 star, because it was better than the Laurel Springs office location, which was a nightmare. I only go here because I don't have dental provided by my employer, and their smile plan works well with my Aflac Dental. They definitely don't stick to their appointment times and some behind the desk aren't very poliet, so be prepared to wait a long time even after your appointment time has come up. Again, if it helps, this location is actually better than Laurel Springs, which was trashy and unorganized and, the only reason I come here is because they offer the smile plan and I do not have dental insurance, otherwise I would be going somewhere else. I want to add that the dentists, assistant & person who does cleaning are all excellent. The people behind the counter doing paperwork etc. should take lessons on customer service from them. read more

Horrible practice. They accept "emergency appointments" only on the day of--but then will not schedule service for days out, no matter how serious the need. (They bill, of course, for the "consultation.") The female dentist is decent, but several of the dentists do very shoddy work. They don't seal fillings, so decay creeps in underneath. They don't regularly smooth out the fillings either, leaving ragged edges. One filling failed in a month, left a gaping hole. Plus their staff is rude. Go elsewhere! read more

I can't wait to become a patient of Eastern Dental again. I've never had an experience like the other reviewers, which is prompting me to write this. I've always had dental insurance, until I was laid off in 2010. When I needed to get a tooth extracted and dental implant, Eastern Dental was my only local, affordable option with quality technology and staff. I completed a really lengthy procedure that took months, and remained a customer/patient for the following 3 dental cleanings and exams. The only reason I am not presently a patient is because I moved to Philly. These reviewers have no true concept of what it means to be ripped off by a dental office unless they've been to the city. I paid 5x's more for a tiny filling in center city WITH insurance than I did at Eastern Dental, with their inexpensive annual smile club, or whatever it's called. My care was always awesome and I look forward to going back. read more
