Stay away from Eastern Dental in Morris Plains!!! They screwed me over. I had gone to them previously for cleanings. They were impossible to get ahold of to make appointments, I had finally made an appointment for a Saturday, I showed up as well as several other people, turned out they were closed and no one was notified. I switched to Dr Wong on Main St in Denville as that's where my MIL goes.. The cherry on the cake was at the beginning of this year. I broke the back corner of a molar on New Year's Eve as I found a piece of something in the ground turkey we'd made into meatloaf. I had emailed and called Dr Wong's office, turned out she was on vacation and had forgotten to put notifications to go to her brother for emergencies instead. I called up to Eastern Dental as I saw they also took emergencies. The girl I had spoken to Friday 1/2 said I could come in Saturday 1/3 at 2pm. I got a call at 9:30 Saturday morning to change my time to earlier "because we close at two". I agreed, not thinking anything of it, plus I was in pain. When I got there, they took X-rays and determined I'd broken it in two spots. Then they sent me back to the waiting room so they could see if they could fix it that day and also had me pay in advance. They did do the fillings that day, but they did a shit job (pardon my language). The dentist did not put a band around my tooth, and basically used what smelled like funky Elmer's glue in my mouth. I didn't know better at the time. They did the curing and what not. I was happy when I left, not thinking anything was wrong. Come to this past Tuesday night. I take gummy vitamins at night. This past Tuesday, I felt something crunchy in my vitamins, then I felt a little weird and some pain. I immediately check in the mirror and the fillings had broken off. Not even two weeks later. I immediately emailed Dr Wong as I knew she was back. I called yesterday morning and explained what happened and she got me in yesterday afternoon. She and one of her assistants fixed me up with proper materials, the band around the tooth, the whole nine. They also suspected the shoddy work was starting to crack before I even had my vitamins. I'm not doing anything crazy here. I don't eat a lot of garbage, I don't chew rocks, I'm not doing contact sports usually, nothing. Eastern Dental was more than happy to get my money. Yes I did call them yesterday to complain, but their office manager was conveniently out sick. They offered to redo it as well, but how the heck can I trust them after this? Absolutely horrible the call center and the receptionist at the physical office do not know how to properly schedule. I had made an appointment to see an orthodontist today. The call center scheduled me to see a general dentist when I got to the office. The receptionist did not ask me who I was here to see if I had a referral they simply said, fill out the application online And have a seat will call you. I had a referral to see an orthodontist. I wasted an hour and a half in the waiting room with my one-year-old and nine-year-old which by the way I had to take a day off work, my son took some time away from school, my daughter was hungry and nothing got done. The general dentist couldn't tell me anything because they are not trained in the specialty simply for my son to rinse with water and salt because the gum with inflated and to make an appointment to see an orthodontist, which is who I asked to see in the first place. the hours on the website are not accurate, and they said they cant change it, it then takes them a month to notice that their staff scheduled an appt outside of business hours. If i could give a zero star I would. I have been scheduled 3 times between their website and their staff and all three appointments were canceled by them last minute. I am new to the area & needed a new dentist. I just moved to Morris County & unfortunately my insurance was the crappier version of Delta Dental where they "assign" you a provider. I just picked Eastern Dental of Parsippany as it was the closest for me drivewise. Before I went to my first consultation/cleaning visit, I looked up their practice out of curiosity to see what people had to say. And oof, it was just 1-star review after the next, after the next. This should have been enough to deter me from going & should have forewarned me to find another provider. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt & went. All I can say is that I can COMPLETELY agree and attest to all of the other 1-star reviews. From the miserable/unfriendly front desk staff to it being a very cold/impersonal experience, I agree with it all 100%. The front desk staff even sound miserable when you call them over the phone. From the second I walked in to the second I walked out I regretted not cancelling this appointment. The front desk girl looked miserable & (being a new patient) I expected her to welcome me, give me maybe a more upbeat attitude? But no, just absolutely miserable. She simply asked me my name & told me to have a seat. Mind you, I'm a new patient...which she should've seen/realized on her screen while checking me in. I sit down and after 5 minutes she tells me to come back up to fill out the new patient paperwork... I sit back down to do this. Get back up to give it to her. Sit back down. Get called BACK up to be asked for my insurance card. Isn't this all stuff that should just be done as soon as you check-in?? Not a smooth check-in process at all. I did not know her name as she a.) did not introduce herself & b.) was not wearing a nametag. By the looks of all these other negative reviews, I can only assume it's the same girl. The front desk girl, the girl who took my x-rays, the DOCTOR who examined my teeth, & the hygienist all did NOT introduce themselves to me. I work in healthcare & have worked in customer service before as well, and this is the FIRST thing you should be doing - ESPECIALLY if you're a new patient. I guess they've never heard of the saying "first impressions are everything" because they blew it. I will never return here. I will give credit to the girl who took my xrays...she was much nicer than the girls I encountered up front. But again, no introduction. By the looks of it, they don't seem to check what people are saying about their practice on these Google Reviews because I don't see any responses from the owner on any of them. The doctor spent maybe 5 minutes with me, told me I had a cavity that needed to be filled & that was it. It was all just such a bizarre experience. It's also all so backwards. I've gone to an extremely knowledgeable & reputable dentist before for 15+ years (before I moved) & it is ALWAYS that the doctor checks your teeth AFTER the cleaning. But not here. Makes zero sense. I am SO glad I am not going back here to get this level 1 cavity filled because, again, after reading these other horrifying reviews it appears they have no idea what they're doing. It seems like people go there with 1 small problem & leave with a major issue because of the low skill level of the dentists working there. It's not dentistry, it a money factory . It felt like the dentists were just looking to charge more and more and more. I came to fix a filling that partly fell off and suddenly the "Doctor" is coming up with a root canal and crown... I said I wanted to fix the filling for starters but they refused. I ended up walking out with out getting the filling fixed. What a bunch of money hungry people. This has nothing to do with your teeth, just how much they can milk you or your insurance for. My bracket fell off and this office was the only one who had an Ortho on Mondays. I drove from the Eastern Dental in Old Bridge to the Parsipanny Office. When I got to the office, it didn't have a very welcoming atmosphere like the one in Old Bridge. Receptionists were ok, but it didn't seem like anyone was happy to be there. Negative vibes are the last thing you need when you are in pain. The nicest person there was the Ortho Dental Hygenist, I didn't get her name but she greeted me with a smile and had such a pleasant demeanor. Unlike the Orthodontist who didn't even bother introducing himself before he put his hands in my mouth. Everyone has bad days, but this guy seemed like he had a bad year. I handed my treated chart to the Ortho Dental Hygenist and she sat me down at an available chair. I wish I could un- hear the conversation that ensued. The Orthodontist proceeded to scold her like a child for asking me to sit down. Saying " Where is her chart?! ..Don't sit a patient down without asking" She replied" I'm sorry I didn't know" . He huffed and said to her " Do you know anything!?"..She apologized again and he said " Yeah, you don't know anything!" Wait! WTF? I couldn't believe my ears, how incredibly rude of the Orthodontist to say that, this is his team they are suppose to work together. The lack of professionalism made me feel so uncomfortable. My heart went out for this woman, having to work in such a toxic environment. I wanted to get the heck out of there as soon as possible I can't imagine how she felt. No one deserves to be treated with such blatant disrespect. And to do it in front of patients is mind blowing. Word to the wise even if it's the same company only the Orthodontist in your home office is allowed to reglue a bracket. So if your bracket brakes off and wire is protruding into your flesh, all that can be done is cutting the wire. I had such a negative experience at this office. I will stick to my home office of Old Bridge. My Ortho is the sweetest man and treats the staff and patients with respect. read more

I do like the place but it is really frustrating when you make appointments and I am currently 45 minutes in waiting room for a temporary cap to be put back on. It's always a wait so plan for it. I cannot comprehend for the life of me why these reviews are so low. I've been a patient here for about 9 years and have never had any experience other than an extremely professional, efficient and pleasant one. The staff and dentists are very talented, caring and professional. I have had a history of dealing with incompetent and sloppy and heavy-handed dentists. Dr. Kartush, who is usually the one who treats me, is none of those things. He is light as a feather and a great diagnostician. I too have had an occasion where I was kept waiting for my appointment, and the staff informed me there was an emergency. Of course, I was a little annoyed because I showed up on time! But... when it was ME who was the person who had an emergency and I had a terrible toothache, the staff was kind enough to fit me in right away, even though the next available appointment was in a week. I now am much more sympathetic and appreciative of trying to run an office efficiently and make everyone happy. read more

Let me start by saying I hate dentists. I know, I know - we all do. The first time I went there (for exam and x-rays), I thought it was just a one-off - that everyone was so nice that one time. However, I just went there again today for a couple of fillings, and I have had the BEST experiences of all time at this office. Everyone - the receptionists, the assistants, and the dentists are some of the FRIENDLIEST and most COMPASSIONATE people I have ever dealt with. The dentists here are acceptable, but the staff and organization is not. Mistakes on my billing and my husband's several times....to their favor, not ours. Most of the time when you call, you have to leave a message for someone to call back, which typically doesn't happen for a day or more. The dental hygienist I went to the last two times, was so rough I was cringing and couldn't wait until she was done. I asked to have records forwarded to my new dentist, but they lost the release form I sent in...consequently, records have not been forwarded. The release form was so unprofessional...it looked like a mimeographed copy from 1963. When I called, they said they didn't have the ability to forward a digital file...their systems are antiquated. Eastern Dental of Parsippany Don't go here. All they care about is what extra they can charge you. They don't do a good cleaning. The first time I went here they did the x-rays and then the Dentist sees you to check your teeth. After that you go to get the cleaning. After a few years of getting a cleaning, the woman cleaning them didn't even take out the hook to pick them. She went around the teeth for about 30 seconds with the sonic cleaner and did nothing. Basically, just quickly and lightly traced the gum line. I said Wow that was quick and she said your teeth were really good. To remind you this was after 2 or 3 years since I had a chance to go to a dentist for a cleaning. In all the years of using a regular dentist every 6 months or so, he checks after the cleaning to see how they cleaned your teeth. This time I went, and because I believed her when she said your teeth were really good. I thought it was 2 or 3 years again but it was 4. I heard other people say they don't clean your teeth good and left them for a regular Dentist. I told the Dentist about the cleaning last time and said I needed a good cleaning. I asked why he sees me before and not after the cleaning and he said he likes to see you before so he can see what kind of cleaning you need. I thought that was odd but I found out that this means is if he puts a certain number down you have to pay an extra $100 for a precleaning. Even though they say everything is included in your plan and you don't pay except for about $1500 for braces, they lie. I asked why I have to pay the extra $100 for a cleaning and they said they have to do extra work like using the pick to go under the gums to clean them. I reminded them about the bad cleaning last time and also said that is how a regular dentist cleans your teeth and all I want is a cleaning but he did not care. The lady who calls the insurance company and always comes out and asks for more money said there is nothing she could do. They can't clean my teeth because of the number the dentist put down there and insurance won't pay for it. Not even just their regular lousy cleaning. I have more stories too. Like one about how they charge extra for my wife's cap and the free included one is the cheap one you don't want. Don't sign up for these thieves. You'll be stuck for a year if your part of the Union plan. If you are not in a plan I have no idea why anyone would come here by choice. read more

Late last month,I went there for an emergency dental visit(I had previously scheduled an appointment for a tooth extraction to be done shortly before Thanksgiving)because my bad tooth was causing me so much pain(despite the fact that I was on antibiotics). I have Crohn's Disease(and because of that,I cannot take any NSAIDs) and I told informed them of that repeatedly. They said they were going to prescribe me just plain codeine,however it turns out that they prescribed me Vicoprofen(which contains Ibuprofen[AKA a NSAID]). And to top it off,they decided to cancel that tooth extraction date. Overall,I would give this place zero stars if I could,especially because of the whole "prescribing a NSAID to a Crohn's Disease patient" thingy. read more

Dr Kartush was doing a filling on a tooth. As he was drilling it cracked. Now I had to do a root canal, post and crown. 6 months later it got infected and had to be removed. Worst experience ever. Never going back. Spent a lot of money for nothing. I blame Dr Kartush for the poor workmanship that lead to the removal of the tooth. They made money the whole way. I lost a tooth in the end.
