Nice selection of meats, fish, and canned goods. Shelves were neat and full, and they lady behind the counter was extremely helpful.

This little market has the BEST goat meat in town. I don't usually like goat, but the goat meat…read moresold here is PHENOMENAL. There is zero stink to the meat! You know what I'm talking about if you've had goat before. Goat has a stink to the meat sometimes that smells quite literally like a farm. However, no matter how you're cooking the goat meat from here, you will not get that smell! My boyfriend has cooked curry, soups, etc. with it and it's perfect meat every time! The only caveat is that it's kind of pricey here at $15 per pound, but I assure you, it's well worth it. I swear this is the only place my boyfriend will get goat around here. The goat meat here is QUALITY - I think it's likely meat from a young goat that was castrated early. If you drop by towards the end of the day, you may find that they don't have a lot of good cuts of meat left (which, in my opinion, is a good indicator of popularity, since it means other people are buying it up!). However, they will give you a discount if the pieces available are especially bony (but that's perfect for a soup), so their business model is pretty fair too.

And Cresent market is always so low on stock. But Houma Market, while there was no fresh meat available that was out, cut the chicken fresh for us. It was also so cheap - we got 3lbs of meat for $5. The employees were very friendly as well. Will definitely be back. Though I was warned by a friend that some of their spices and dry products tend to be expired. So just make sure to check the expiration!
