The front desk staff is always very welcoming, and the clinic is clean, organized, and easy to visit. Every time I come in for acupuncture with Dr. Shen, the process is smooth from start to finish. The insurance and billing process is also very easy. The front desk handles everything for me, and I only have to pay my copay, which makes each visit stress-free. I have been seeing Dr. Shen for the past couple of months and have completed about 11 treatments so far. She has helped me with several health concerns, especially my back pain, which has improved a lot since starting treatment. What surprised me most is how much she has also helped with my allergies. I can breathe so much easier now. Dr. Shen is very busy at the Pleasanton location, so sometimes I drive to the Fremont office to see her. Even though it is farther, it is absolutely worth it because she is amazing. The front desk is awesome about calling me when there are cancellations with her. My wife has also been seeing Dr. Shen for pregnancy and fertility support. We had been trying to have a baby for almost two years and had traveled countless times to Europe for IVF. After my wife saw Dr. Shen for about five treatments, she became pregnant. Dr. Shen has also helped her with migraines, which has been such a blessing for our family. What makes Dr. Shen special is that she truly takes the time to listen to her patients. She customizes every treatment and treatment plan based on our individual needs. I was excited to try this place for nagging shoulder pain that's been increasingly getting worse. I live close by and it's very convenient. However, I was very disappointed with my experience here, especially as someone who also works in pain relief and values Eastern medicine. * $155 for about 5 minutes with the doctor * No real shoulder exam, muscle testing, orthopedic tests, or nerve assessment * Pressed on a few tight spots I showed him in my shoulder and immediately decided on cupping + acupuncture without identifying the actual issue * 15 minutes of cupping, 20 minutes of acupuncture, and I left feeling exactly the same This felt less like individualized care and more like a "same treatment for everyone" approach. Eastern medicine can be incredibly effective when done properly, but this experience felt rushed, impersonal, and money-driven. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this level of care was unacceptable. I'm sorry to say this is an insult to eastern medicine. I've had eastern medicine and they never treated me without even identifying my problem. read more

I am suffering from Frozen Shoulder. I am seeing an orthopedic surgeon and a physical therapist to monitor the progress I'm doing with stretching and strength exercises. I've tried anti-inflammatory meds and a cortisone shot without much success with pain relief. I am also seeing a chiropractor to help keep everything aligned. A friend recommended I try acupuncture. I found Eastern Medical. I've been 3 times this month and I am amazed with the decrease in pain. My first visit started with a consultation. I met with Dr. Wang who asked questions about my pain and what I've been doing to help alleviate discomfort. He said that he can definitely help me. The number of sessions and how often depends on how my body reacts to the treatment. My first session included cupping (15 min) and acupuncture (20 min) with something the sent pulses to my body. I went home with my shoulder feeling fatigued which is common but the pain was decreased the next day. Then my shoulder started to feel pain again as the week ended. The following week was my 2nd visit. Same treatment. The pain had decreased again and this time it lasted longer than a couple days. Sometimes I felt so pain-free that I almost forgot I have frozen shoulder! But then I'd reach behind me and my shoulder would remind me that it's still frozen. :( Today was my 3rd visit and I'm excited to see what this session has in store for me. Dr. Wang sees the progress and now he has added a very light stretching exercise to increase my shoulder's range of motion. Dr. Wang is professional and kind. The office is full of friendly staff members and they make you feel welcome. Very clean rooms. Acupuncture and cupping have certainly helped with pain management. Today was my first time visiting Dr. Shen. I have been experiencing upper and lower eyelid twitching for about three months, and it has been extremely annoying, as the twitching comes and goes many times throughout the day. Dr. Shen first went through a detailed questionnaire with me to understand what was going on. She then performed acupuncture massage on my whole body, trying to identify any blocked areas, and finally did acupuncture treatment. I could tell how seriously and attentively she treats her patients throughout the entire session. I felt so much better after the first visit and already can't wait to see her again soon.
