Funny Note: My wife says I am having a mid-life crisis moment when I all of a sudden wanted to buy a bike. At the time, I didn't know if I wanted a road bike, mountain bike or something in between. Rigid, hardtail, full suspension? 27.5" or 29" tires, which name-brand bike? SRAM or Shimano? If you ever shopped for a bike recently it can get very confusing on what to buy. Thankfully there is this bike shop located in Spanish Fort, AL. Store Owner Phil and his team will be able to answer all your questions. Once they know your price point and bike type, they will pick several out of their huge in stock inventory and let you test ride them. They were never pushy, they just gave you the facts. We drove an hour to look at Specialized E-bikes. We were the only customers in the store with 3 employees out front. The salesperson who acted as if he were the owner was, as others have mentioned, "not in a good mood that day. " He was rude. He was clearly not interested in helping us and treated us like we were idiots. He liked himself a lot!! When my wife asked him to recap the info on the bikes we had looked at, he quickly said" I've already covered that." We were looking at expensive bikes and wanted to educate ourselves before we made a decision. We ended up buying a bike tube for my other bike and leaving. Customers spending money in a retail store want good customer service or they will go elsewhere which is what we did. He apparently has so much business he didn't need mine. I would not step foot in this shop again! read more

Went here because I was hopeful this store was going to be a good place to find a new mountain bike. Plus, the stores in Pensacola where I live near didn't have the size nor type of bike I was looking for. Employees were moderately friendly, at best. Not very energetic in trying to help us find what we needed. I'm guessing it was the owner who helped me, and he seemed nice. Didn't really offer any advice for the bikes I was looking at. And when I asked him a serious question, "Do you only have 2 stores?", he seemed to take real offense to that by replying "only two stores?!" and mentioning how hard it is managing 2 stores. Alright man, didn't mean it that way but if that's how you treat your customers then I guarantee you I won't be coming back. Prices were what we expected and they don't offer military discount for all you active duty folks. I also compared this store to a bike shop we checked out in New Orleans a week later, which blew this place out of the water as far as bike inventory and employee assistance goes. The place in NoLa was very willing to tell you about fitting on a bike and how you should have everything adjusted so you ride comfortable. They also took an additional discount off of a previous year Specialized mountain bike simply because we asked. This placed rocked compared to Eastern Shore Cycles. read more

I went into the store looking for a bike for my boyfriend for his birthday. They were very helpful. I knew that I wanted a Hybrid, beyond that my only other requirement was it not be an "old man" bike. Oh, I also didn't want a red bike for him. So with those requirements out of the way they helped me get down to the really important stuff. How the bike would fit him, especially since he wasn't with me. A bike with Shimano gearing. Something good for distance without going over my budget, helping me decide between brands. They even delivered the bike to me the next day since I didn't have a bike rack on my car. That was last year. I've since taken my bike in for a tune up. His has gone in for tune up. We've purchased accessories in the shop, and so far every experience has been great. Oh, and it may help that I'm a dog person and I really like the two dogs that hang out in the shop. They are laid back, and it makes me feel calm. I also like that they never pressure me to buy something that is out of my budget or for a more serious cyclist. I ride my bike for fun, and as cool as some of the really high end stuff is right now they are honest enough to tell me that I really wouldn't get that much out of a higher end bike. read more

We got my wife a bike seat here, and I think we were waited on by the owner/manager. I'll give them credit for having the device that measures your sit bones, but I'm taking off a lot of points for the salesman being a jerk. You get the definite impression he doesn't like you and just wants you to leave the shop. I figured, maybe he was just having a bad day, and we went back the next day to buy some bike shorts. Was waited on by the same guy, and had the identical experience. He's just unpleasant. Not aggressively rude, but it's clear he doesn't like you and has better things to do. I was going to buy some chain lube, but had to ask myself why I would want to do any more business with him. I'll either get it online or drive just a couple miles further to the bike shop where they're friendly and appreciate my business. So, I'm giving two stars because they have the sit bones machine, but this place definitely has a one star vibe. No more business from me, Mr. Sourpuss. read more

This seems like the place to go if you want professional / expensive bikes and gear. Unfortunately, as a casual biker, I felt looked down upon by the worker I interacted with. I think "snobby" is a good way to describe the atmosphere. I think it was unintentional, and maybe I just went on a bad day. But both my friend and I left feeling uncomfortable with how we were treated. I was spoken to as if I were a difficult customer when I never complained about wait times or having to drop my bike off and leave it for repairs. read more

Generally good service but one of the workers is a real dick. He made it real easy for me to go to ANY of their competitors. Would not recommend based on how he treated customers. Keep in mind it's only one of them that's a dick. I went strait to Infinity Bicycles where they went strait to work on my bike instead of thebikeshop which told me i'd have to leave it and come back. They didn't even have the tools I need for sale! But guess what?! INFINITY BICYCLES DOES. I cannot recommend them more. read more

I have been using this shop for a while. I have purchased 3 bikes and countless amounts of gear from them. I have to say that it is probably my favorite store of any type in the area. The people are friendly and knowledgeable. Most importantly, they are trustworthy and dependable. They have fixed my bike countless times, and helped me out of many a jam. Phil, the owner, has spent his own time helping me get a refund on some wheels that i had fail (which were out of warranty). If you are looking for a bike, you can not do much better than here. We have been shopping at Eastern Shore Cycles since we found them in 2010 while my husband was on a business trip to the area. Anytime we were back in the area, we have made a point to stop by and do a little shopping. Over the course of the years, they had equipped us with everything but our bikes which we purchased in our hometown some 250 miles away. We have grown so comfortable with their outstanding service, we jumped in and purchased two bikes from them this month and a second bike rack. First, they are extremely knowledgable about their products and beyond patient with those of us that have lots of questions before making a purchase. Secondly, as I mentioned earlier, their service goes above and beyond to make sure the customer has a positive experience. It is this above and beyond service that made it make sense that we purchase our bikes from them and when we are in the area they can service our bikes. Talk about customer service - this place ROCKS!!! They are certainly more reasonable cost wise, but they really bend over backwards to help you find the right bike for you. We recently needed to replace a hand brake on a trail bike and after checking online and calling around, we were not surprised to find we could purchase it and get it installed here for less than the online price just for the part. The other local bike dealers couldn't touch Eastern Shore Cycles in price and certainly not in service, either. read more

He was so very nice and so very fair in what he charged me to fix it. What really impressed me was when he said that his top priority was to make the bike safe to ride which was of course my top priority also.
