I simply snapped after your employee copped an attitude and started looking at me all wide-eyed and talking to me sternly like he's some authority figure over me like a father or something. Then flailing with my tire giving it back to me in pieces. That is a reason to snap when you're a paying customer! The employee needs an attitude adjustment. He's welcome to look me up anytime if he's looking to solve that problem. Bottom line: Paid/donated $30 to the company to not get a tire fixed and have my presta/schrader valve go missing while getting cussed out. read more

I took my bike in for a tuneup up and got a quote. Included was to change the cables which were pretty old. After a few days I was told that the chain that was in it, which was the original chain that came with the bike is the wrong thickness and had to be replaced. The chain was the original chain that the bike came with and it has been used for years. And now after years of used with no issue, it needs to be replaced with the right one? My opinion the store will charge you with whatever they can get away with even if it's not necessary. BTW, this is not affiliated anymore with other Bikes plus which are great shops. read more

I was looking for a local bike shop to perform a tune-up on my ebike. I found Bikes Plus in 9th Avenue, which is the closest to my house. I went to their website and discovered that you can schedule normal tuneup and basic maintenance online. If you need specific repairs or service, you can bring your bike in for them to check out and estimate costs. I scheduled a tuneup for my ebike. I called and asked if I could drop off the afternoon before my scheduled appointment and they said yes. I dropped off my bike and it was ready after within a few hours after my scheduled appointment. So I was able to get my bike in quickly, get serviced, and get my bike back. I have had friends tell me that other shops took a week or so to get their bikes in for tuneups. This shop also had a huge inventory of different bikes, including some e-bikes. Great selection of accessories and the guys were great and easy to talk to. Highly recommend this shop for all your biking needs. read more

Took my bicycle flat tire in on a Friday to get fixed. The younger guy working there fixed it on the spot, and I left and placed the fixed tire in my garage. I go to put the tire on my bike the next day and the tire is flat again from just sitting in my garage overnight. So I take the once again flat tire back to the shop on Saturday and they are closed despite posted hours of 9 am to 4 pm. No note on the window or anything. Closed all day despite they are supposed to be open. No biggie. Maybe they had a family emergency or something. Shop is closed on Sunday so I take the once again flat tire back up to the shop on Monday morning. The same younger guy is there and I tell him what happened but also mentioned that I used to have a presta/schrader valve adapter on the tire that I noticed was missing after he fixed the tire the fist time. The dude cops an attitude with me and says there is no way he forgot to put the adapter back on and there was no adapter on there. I've had the bike for 14 years and it's ALWAYS been on there! Still no biggie but the dude continues with his attitude so I tell him to just give me back my tire and I will go somewhere else. With his attitude much worse now, the dude starts flailing with my tire to give it back to me in pieces. At this point, cussing starts and the dude calls me some type of slur used by Hispanics for White people and tells me to never come back. And yep, I won't....and every cyclists I encounter from here on out will know about this.......I believe AJ is the owner and a retired vet and I never had a problem with him so I do hate this situation for him but his younger employee is not good. I took the tire that he gave back to me in pieces to a different bike shop and there was a little piece of steel or something in the actual tire. They took it out and problem was solved. The younger guy that copped the attitude didn't even fix my tire correctly AND copped an attitude while calling me a slur. Yeppers for sure I won't be back. read more

I contacted them twice, the first time through their website contact page and the second time through the email from the Facebook page, inquiring about a price to get some work done on a bike. They never bothered to reply. The second time I even mentioned that I'd contacted them previously and they hadn't replied. If this were a customer oriented business, that should have gotten an immediate reply and an apology. Clearly, their customer service is terrible. I always say that it's important to notice how a business treats a potential customer. Because if they won't give good service when they should be making an effort in order to get your business, then imagine how much worse their service must be once they've got your money. read more

On 20th September 2018, I purchased a KHS UltraSport 3.0 fitness bicycle from Bikes Plus on 9th. I'd visited the shop two times and worked with Chris and Carlos to help identify the bicycle I needed. I was so happy to find a shop where I expected a very long term relationship. I'd already planned to purchase an additional similar bicycle in a month or so. A few days later, I noticed that the saddle on my bicycle was described in KHS literature as a "Lady's Saddle." I had been told repeatedly that the bicycle was "IDENTICAL" in all technical specifications to the men's bike -- except in color. Because there are real anatomical differences between men and women, I phoned Bikes Plus on 9th to ask if I could exchange the seat. Carlos, who had finalized the sale of the bicycle, told me this would not be a problem. On 27 September 2018, I brought the seat in for the exchange. I met the owner, Andrew, who immediately adopted an argumentative and aggressive stance. I couldn't believe his attitude. He told me I was accusing his staff and his business in general of dishonesty: I most definitely was NOT. I was seeking information, technical support from a KHS dealer who should have known about the bikes he sells I had to point out the difference in the KHS brochure. I view this is the kind of technical issue as possible to easily overlook. He progressed to argue trivial points about whether the male seat was 1/4" longer; we took a male seat off a floor bike and found that was not true: except for some color accents, both seats seemed identical. All I wanted was a male seat. If Andrew could make that kind of mistake, then, I wanted to go with the KHS literature and get a seat designed for men. Finally, he took a seat off a display bike and took my seat and put it onto the floor bike. This was NOT done in a nice way: Andrew became increasingly belligerent and in my face. He asked sarcastically if I was happy. I replied: "with the seat, yes, but not with you" and started to leave the shop. At that point he followed me into the parking lot and threatened to call the police. I was shocked! I had visited expecting to leave happy and to purchase a helmet and some racks for my Explorer to transport the bicycle. And now I was being threatened with arrest! I returned "his" seat and took my seat back, and left the area as soon as I could, happy to get out of a hostile environment. Based on this experience, Andrew needs some kind of anger management, and needs to treat his customers with respect. He did not respect a customer with an EASILY RESOLVABLE complaint that may have cost him a few bucks. I felt physically threatened by this guy. I had paid full list price for the KHS UltraSport 3.0 fitness bicycle and purchased additional about $150 of accessories. This is sad. I'm a pretty mild mannered university professor, just looking for a shop that could help me get back into biking. Bikes Plus on 9th is NOT that shop. Right now, I am literally afraid to go back to Bikes Plus on 9th to access the promised tuneup and service care for my bicycle. Needless to say, it's not likely that I'll purchase another KHS bicycle from them. read more

Bikes Plus has always been my go-to spot for all things cycling. I purchased a used vintage Cannondale which needed TLC I simply didn't have the time to give it. I brought my bike to this location and had it back in showroom, like-new, couldn't-tell-it-was-ever-rode condition, and in less than two days. I was very pleased. They even utilized used components as they saw fit, and per my request, in order to save me money, and to recycle. I am still riding my 2008 reconditioned Cannondale M700 (originally manufactured in 1991). and it still rides fantasic. Other than minor adjustments and tires, this is my daily commuter vehicle and I love it. I will always bring my business back to this store and recommend it to others. read more

He was more concerned that I get what I want rather then "making do" with something that really didn't work for me. I brought my two old bikes in for a tune up and the work was done fast and well.
