To say I am pleased with my experience here is an understatement. I've been learning to heal and sit with my mental health for 4 years now and as I've had to pause my talk therapy, I've been searching for other ways to combat the anxiety and depression I've been feeling. Thankfully I was (and currently still am!) in phenomenal hands with Kim as my acupuncturist. She listens and hears me with what I'm coming in with because sometimes it's not always the same problems. It could be menstrual issues, it could even be back pain as well. Tying in different points to treat multiple things at once, and it's so gentle I never have to worry about needles or the placements at all! Thankfully I'm not very fearful of needles, and of course I had my reservations at first as everyone does because it's something new and scary at first, but she showed how thin it was and again: minimal to no pain. Minimal could be due to anticipation or the energy the point gives off, it's actually a super cool sensation! After that it basically feels like a nap, or if it's during a time I come in with hyper awareness to my feelings, it's a good moment to sit with what I'm feeling and focus on my breathing. The waves of fear/anxiety or energy shifts with in you feel similar to me so one of the biggest things about acupuncture that I learned to love about it is specifically that: learn to sit with your discomfort because it cannot take power over you. I'm grateful to have treatments with Kimberly to offset the days I cannot see my therapist because it still gives me an opportunity to make the day for myself and to treat and heal myself in other ways. Not only with acupuncture, but also with nutrition as well! Her knowledge and incorporating nutrition with her treatments is very good information to take with you and see for yourself how better you feel when you know what's going in your body and if certain things need adjusting or replacing with something else that serves you better. (Also water. Water is super important and reminders to hydrate are great and welcomed in my book!) I'm continuing my treatments here and very much recommend Kimberly as an acupuncturist because she just knows where to go! Even if you think something can't be helped by acupuncture, ask! It's amazing to me how much it can help with so many things so please communicate it because it could help you with something you're dealing with, and other than that it's just a relaxing time all around! read more

The worst accupuncture appointment that ive ever had. For starters, i told her that the pain was on the back of my ear. (on the scalp) {the mastoid} She proceeded to needle me on the most UNCOMFORTABLE table . It was the WORST humidity and heat that day and she had this "table" cranked up to 100 degrees in the most uncomfortable position. This burned my arms very bad. I had burning sensations on my arm and neck for 3 days after because i have a skin problem. She did not take the time out to ask me previous questions about treatment, or whats going on with me. but i decided to inform her anyways. I let her know that i had previously been treated for accupuncture many times, and that i had great relief when getting my nerves around my mastoid accupunctured. Instead of doing what i asked for, she put atleast 20 needles in my ear and jaw. This made me extremely uncomfortable and i wanted to cry . I asked her "How come you're not putting them on the area" she told me that she is doing a "distillate" treatment (whatever the hell that means) IMO she did not due her due diligence by asking me enough questions about my medical history. when isee other doctors they take a really long time to listen to you before ever putting a needle in you. The entire experience was extremely uncomfortable from start to finish Needless to say my mastoid is still swollen. NOW ONTOP OF THIS i also now have ringing in the ears, burning in the ears due to her garbage needles in unneeded places. She hurt my jaw extremely bad to the point that it was swollen and hurting. She did NOT fix my swollen mastoid and she did NOT fix my jaw issue that when i bite i feel pain I have been to many accupunctures and have had a successful accupuncture everytime. I asked her why she wasnt doing any down the back of my mastoid or neck and she said "this is a distillate treatment so we effect the points furthest away from where it bothers you" Ive never EVER heard of something like that and WHY WOULD I EVEN WANT IT? I don't know how you can put all the needles in all the wrong positions . Theres probably more im leaving out, but i was left in a worse position then when i started and was extremely upset and angry. Then they wanted to pay a $25 tip... are they out of their mind? read more

After having mostly positive experiences here over the years, I booked a 30 minute facial for my teen granddaughter over the phone. Upon arriving this morning, they were told that there would be no time for extractions, which was the main purpose of our visit. When we explained this to the employee, she replied with "too bad." Then she went on to say that a 30 minute service is an "add on" although the employee I booked with over the phone did not say anything of the sort. Then we were told that "you people" can't make these appointments. I assume she was referring to the summer tourists who come in; however we are long time Southold residents who will no longer be customers of Eastern Sun. read more

Went there recently with a friend. There was no one in sight. We stood there for about 5 minutes. I gently called out hello. No one answered. So I finally started walking through the place looking for a person. I went upstair, there were no signs saying employees only, no one up there. I came back down. at the bottom of the stairs was a window with the most beautiful succulents so I stopped to admire them. At this point a women comes in from a back room and proceeds to speak to me in a scolding tone. "What am I doing over there." I started to explain to her that I went upstairs looking for a person. she cut me off proceeded to tell me how inappropriate it was that I went upstairs. When I told her we had been there about 10 minutes now and were just looking for someone to speak with, she didn't care. just continued to rant about my being inappropriate. I'm a well dressed 68 year old woman being dressed down like a child for wandering about a business looking for someone to help me. I apologized to the woman for disrupting her day and my friend and I immediately left. I felt her behavior was rude, uncalled for and not health promoting in the least. I am a local person but will never go back there. read more

Best massage ever! Ariel was my massage therapist and she was absolutely amazing. Rather than me going in and asking for a specific type of massage, she said she prefers to work on problem areas she feels based on what you say your issues are. Now THAT is the way to go with a massage! She worked out all the kinks, soreness, and tight spots I had. There were areas of my body I didn't even know were there but turns out those dormant spots were what was causing the pain in other areas. All I can say is WOW. What an amazing experience. I've am happy to be a long standing client of Eastern Sun Holistic Health. The staff there is professional and accommodating. The therapists are excellent and the front desk is friendly. I've utilized most of their services and they work well with so many different people. They also offer their space for meditation in the evenings. Short term bookings are often available. The receptionist is warm and welcoming. It's great to have such a good facility in our town. read more

I am appalled at the customer service at this place and the complete and utter lack of care for a person's well being. I am pregnant and wrote to schedule an appointment for acupuncture to treat horrible back pain that I have been experiencing. I scheduled the appointment for 2 days later. The day of the appointment , I arrive at the business and the woman said she emailed me that day to cancel. I looked in my email and there was an automated email cancelling my appointment with no explanation. She explained that it's because their acupuncturist didn't feel comfortable treating a pregnant woman. First of all, shouldn't they have checked with her ahead of time before scheduling me? I am barely mobile and could have scheduled somewhere else and not had to suffer through the holiday weekend. Second of all, the woman at the front desk looked at me with no expression and blank eyes and just offered to reschedule for a week later. She then couldn't seem to believe that I was out of town the following week and kept asking me as though I was a lying to her. How a wellness facility employs such an emotionless human with zero empathy is beyond me. The last time I went here this blank woman was the same and I had a lack luster massage that time but decided to give the acupuncture a shot since that's their speciality. The wonderful facial provided by Renata is a very special treat, and I left totally relaxed and happy. Her lotions, procedures, hand movements and knowledge are excellent, and she includes a full hand and foot massage, as well as neck and shoulders. and the music is quiet and soothing, not too new age. From the outside it is difficult to tell if they are even open. It took many times before anyone actually called back to setup an appointment. Overall itis not too clean or inviting and the staff isn't very friendly. I'd recommend Special Effects or Blue Sage any day. read more
