Most of my sessions have taken place in Midtown Manhattan at a very professional establishment originally from Taiwan, with offices in Asia, Queens, and Manhattan. But traveling into Manhattan for a one hour session has just become too much. Traffic, crazy expenses other than acupuncture, and the quality of life...ugh! So I looked into Wellspring of Life Acupuncture in Riverhead, Long Island... 45 minutes by car from my house. Of course, just as the treatment center in Manhattan, they couldn't take my insurance. Anyway, I decided to give it a try. Melissa Peters has studied Chinese medicine in NYC and California for years. Her office is in a small strip mall off of Old Country Road, right across the street from Target. It is a pleasant office and the treatment rooms are clean, modern, with piped in New Age music, and very comfortable. Naturally I am a little wary of acupuncture therapists who are not from China. My first treatment was an evaluation session. What kind of therapy was eventually decided upon...and I must admit, after three once a week sessions I feel much better. Much better. To be 100% honest, the lower back pain has gone from a pain scale of 5 to....2 . My energy has increased dramatically. My knees are much less cranky. I am very pleased, and highly recommend Wellspring of Life Acupuncture.

I have been in pain for 4 days and now with a throbbing back I have to wait until my next appointment... incredible. I have had adjustments before. I know my body. All I needed was an adjustment. I am young and healthy with no history of injuries. I spoke to Stephanie and all she tried to do was to sell me a brace for another 75 dollars. They should have their license taken away

They told me it would take 24 to 48 hours to know if I was approved. After 3 days of not hearing back, I called them and they brushed me off saying they had not heard back. I tried again in five days with the same result. After more than a week there was no word, so I called them a third time. Their response, "Oh, you were not approved." So I asked why didn't you call me? "Oh, we just heard." What a bunch of BS. I told these people that I had recently moved to the area and they were recommended by someone. I also told them that I was in pain and needed to see someone. They did not care in the least! They never offered that I could pay cash for my first visit while they run my insurance. They just hung up. I have never been treated this way by a medical office. Luckily, I found another provider and my insurance was approved within the hour.

Both Carol Sigler and Julie Sigler-Baum treat on a level that not only fixes what you came in for, but boosts the system so that you look and feel many many years younger. A level of vitality returns that you either forgot or did not think was still possible. Also, for 6 months Carol Sigler treated me while I had to have chemo at Stony Brook hospital and I had far less side effects than others whom I got to know. No nausea, I was eating and able to walk an hour a day. At the end of the chemo I was treated for 2 months to put me back together and detox and after only 6 weeks I was energetic enough to begin interviewing and go back to work and have a normal life. I cannot recommend these highly skilled, kind and caring people enough. They are the essence of healing.

To say I am pleased with my experience here is an understatement…read more I've been learning to heal and sit with my mental health for 4 years now and as I've had to pause my talk therapy, I've been searching for other ways to combat the anxiety and depression I've been feeling. Thankfully I was (and currently still am!) in phenomenal hands with Kim as my acupuncturist. She listens and hears me with what I'm coming in with because sometimes it's not always the same problems. It could be menstrual issues, it could even be back pain as well. Tying in different points to treat multiple things at once, and it's so gentle I never have to worry about needles or the placements at all! Thankfully I'm not very fearful of needles, and of course I had my reservations at first as everyone does because it's something new and scary at first, but she showed how thin it was and again: minimal to no pain. Minimal could be due to anticipation or the energy the point gives off, it's actually a super cool sensation! After that it basically feels like a nap, or if it's during a time I come in with hyper awareness to my feelings, it's a good moment to sit with what I'm feeling and focus on my breathing. The waves of fear/anxiety or energy shifts with in you feel similar to me so one of the biggest things about acupuncture that I learned to love about it is specifically that: learn to sit with your discomfort because it cannot take power over you. I'm grateful to have treatments with Kimberly to offset the days I cannot see my therapist because it still gives me an opportunity to make the day for myself and to treat and heal myself in other ways. Not only with acupuncture, but also with nutrition as well! Her knowledge and incorporating nutrition with her treatments is very good information to take with you and see for yourself how better you feel when you know what's going in your body and if certain things need adjusting or replacing with something else that serves you better. (Also water. Water is super important and reminders to hydrate are great and welcomed in my book!) I'm continuing my treatments here and very much recommend Kimberly as an acupuncturist because she just knows where to go! Even if you think something can't be helped by acupuncture, ask! It's amazing to me how much it can help with so many things so please communicate it because it could help you with something you're dealing with, and other than that it's just a relaxing time all around!
