Protect our community by ensuring this doesn't happen to you! Context: We sold our home last year and the buyers settlement company did not follow through on their agreed part, dropping the ball on a final utility bill. Instead of doing right by the customer after admitting their mistake and speaking with us for a solution, they instead sent their FIRST correspondence to us and it's a threat to be sent to collections AND pay legal fees. Totally blindsided by this!!! The owner, never introduced himself and lied in attempt to cover his companies mistakes! You can imagine how surprised we are too, never having missed a bill! More so, heartbroken at how this company spoke with the townsman, our real estate team and communicated this with us. There was zero professionalism! read more

We started our search for title companies after the contract was accepted on our new home. We are first time home buyers, so we were anxious to get started. Eastern stuck out as they had the ability to obtain an online quote and they were rated so highly on yelp and google. Josh called me the night I received the quote to ask me if I had any questions and was very pleasant. I called to ask some follow-up questions the next day, and Christina Hungerford was again, very pleasant and helpful. Then, something, unknown to me still, changed... We selected Eastern and let our team know to move forward. The lender, unbeknownst to us, tried several times over the next month to obtain documentation from the title company to no avail. The lender also stated that Josh and Christina were both very rude to him. When they finally sent us some paperwork to sign, my boyfriend/co-buyer emailed Christina, who asked him to call her. He left 3 messages over the course of a week, with no return phone call. He is in a sales job, so it's not easy to take time out of his day to call people outside of his sales appointments. I called Josh directly the following week to explain that my boyfriend had been trying to get in touch with Christina, who had not returned his phone calls, and that I'd like to setup an appointment for her and my boyfriend to speak. Josh responded in an irritable tone, almost like he was inconvenienced by talking to me... or like I was disrespecting Christina by stating she hadn't called him, but he did agree to the scheduled appointment time. Josh, not Christina, called my boyfriend 10 minutes later than we had agreed, and again, spoke in a very hurried, irritable tone. When asked to describe what the survey is, Josh responded with a very short, "ya, you're gonna want that", then again, my boyfriend asked him WHAT it was, and Josh repeated himself in the same tone, "ya, you're gonna want that". We fired Eastern the next day. It's extremely disappointing that they acted this way towards us. I don't know how you can treat people so badly in general, let alone people who are going through one of the biggest, most stressful times in their life in buying a home for the first time. My boyfriend and I, as well as everyone on our team, will be sure to mention this terrible experience when anyone in the we know is considering a title company. read more

I did my refi with them and it did not go as planned. The guy doing the paperwork Peyton was good but the upper management delayed it and I almost lost my rate. The upper management there is horrible, incompetent, and do not know the business at all! I am doing another refi in a few months and I will definitely not use them! This company was horrible to work with. The person who bought our house used this company (my husband and I used a different company for our new house). The title processor assigned to our closing was Dayene Ribeiro from Eastern Title. She was the absolute worst. We knew for 30 days we were closing on both houses the same day. By law, both title companies are supposed to provide us closing disclosures days before the closing date. First, Dayene provided a disclosure agreement that had all inaccurate figures on it (wrong purchase price etc). When my husband, agent AND loan officer tried to contact her about this, she refused to return calls or communicate on what's going on whatsoever. Several calls were made over the course of a week to her and she did not return one call. THEN, ONE Day BEFORE settlement, we have yet to get a correct closing disclosure from her. We tried contacting her and we FINALLY received it AFTER 5pm BUT there was never any word from her on when we would get it. We were stressed ALL day wondering if we were going to have to postpone both closings the following day. Our new house would not allow us to do a walk through without the agreement from this company and the purchaser of our old home who was using this company was going to charge us a security deposit AND rent if we weren't able to close due to HIS title company not doing what they were supposed to do. Settlement day comes and we were scheduled to close at 1pm. Us and our agent, the buyer of our house and his agent all show up at our house on time for closing. The title person doesn't show up until 2:30pm. We had some communication with them that day saying they would be late because the title person that was coming to closing didn't have all of the paperwork from Dayene Ribeiro yet. So we waited an hour and a half before they finally showed which THEN made us late for our 2'd closing that day on our new home. To make matters worse, the title company wouldn't transfer the funds to the new title company timely and was "holding them for management approval". Maryland is a "wet settlement" state so they were being unlawful holding those funds. We waited over an hour after signing all closing docs with the new title company and sellers before any money was released. Horrible horrible horrible experience. Steer clear of these guys. read more

We had the unfortunate experience as a seller to deal with Eastern Title & Settlement. Not only were they hard to get in touch with (don't even try email, just stick to phone), but they were more expensive then their competitors in the same market and would make mistakes on the final closing numbers up until settlement, including forgetting to add allowances in the contract to the final closing disclosure papers in amounts of above $10,000 USD (aka, make sure you double check their numbers). The only upside I can see to this company is they seem to be fluent in Chinese and are very polite to the buyers. read more

What can I say, excellent staff all around. Timely settlements, always updated on all new regulations. They provide classes for realtors on new updates in the industry as well as continued education for their licenses. They accommodate your closing anywhere in the tri state area. I have been using Eastern title services for the past 7 years and not once have I had an issue.
