There is a lot of positive energy, top notch instruction, and excellent community. If you like to roll, you will have lots of talented training partners and class sizes (depending on the time) can be large and exciting, but everyone still gets 1on1 attention from the instructors and coaches. People there are friendly and welcoming but still serious about getting better, they take their training seriously but it's a relaxed vibe. The instructors are wonderful, very professional yet personable. High level techniques being shared here. With soo much experience on the mats you have lots of different Jiu-Jitsu styles to choose from. The amenities are exceptional. Nice clean bathrooms, changing rooms and showers. The front desk people are always smiling and helpful when you come in the door. While I haven't gotten to train the striking classes as I primarily train Jiu-Jitsu , they look like a lot of fun and they are training very hard with solid technique. They have lots of quality mat spaces for grappling and striking as well as workout equipment. There are many classes for people to choose from. Giving the most flexibility I have ever seen at a gym. Dropped in from Cali to take a BJJ class while visiting for the week. Everyone was extremely welcoming and fun at all levels. My daughter enjoyed her class and came away with some new skills. My wife and I both joined the Advanced Gi class and were treated like their own students. Professor Alex shared so much knowledge in our one class and we came away better practitioners. If you want the best Brazilian jiu jitsu instruction, Easton's center is the best hands down. The best. Amal Easton trained in Brazil and is high-level with decades of experience. He was the first one on the scene in Boulder and is of the Gracie lineage of higher ranked black belts. Eliot Marshall, Amal's partner, is a longtime blackbelt who fought and won in the UFC. These guys are for real and they not only produce the best students who win tournaments, but they also train UFC fighters. And if you just want to take jiu jitsu for fun, sport, or self defense, there's a place for you without the usual nonsense that goes on in other martial arts schools. This is a great place! Big but gets super tight during afternoon with 3 classes going on. I was in town for a conference for two weeks and needed to keep up my training. Found this on yelp and came to sign up for two weeks. My main focus is Muay Thai, they were super accommodating for me as I train with the fight team back home. I was prepared to eat up the price for a two week training session, and to my surprise the manager let me train for free. The coaches were great too. The altitude kicked my ass and pedialyte saved my life. Didn't have my gloves so rented from them which is $3 per day. I found it interesting to have color coding... I have to honestly say that I don't like that system. I can see the pros and cons but ... everyone has their own ways. It's working ? Then great! All in all, it's a great place. I am impressed with how responsive Easton has been with my feedback about attending to the skill level of new students who have previous experience in Muay Thai or other striking martial arts. Over the intervening month, I've noticed increased attention to promotions to conscientiously move people into the classes that meet their skill level, and I haven't since heard anyone instruct that we pair with "like size and ability." Instead, coaches are either pairing people themselves, or else there's openness and even encouragement for upper skill levels to pair with lower. As a result, classes are more varied and challenging as some classes I pair with someone less skilled, and others more. So each class I get to practice something different - slowing down, teamwork, cooperation or at other times, speed, precision, technique, etc. If you're interested in really learning a fighting skill, whether its Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I haven't found a gym in the past 14 years, through living in Boulder, Los Angeles and SF Bay area, that has the whole package as well as Easton. Easton has excellent instruction (no easy feat, and hard to come by without all the weird attitudes - ala Art of Manliness), but also frequent and varied classes, inspiring instructors, supportive community, amenities, responsiveness, location, parking. This place is a gem. They've always been great at encouraging and training new students, and they have a nationally recognized fight team, so they're great if you want to do amateur or professional fights (Alastair Overeem was training at the gym today during my class!), but now I feel confident in saying, if you're just an experienced student who loves martial arts and wants to keep training, they're good for that too. read more

I have been training at Easton for around 6 months now. The kickboxing and Muay Thai classes got me into the best shape of my life. Easton will give you the resources to become better at whichever martial art you choose, and if you're willing to consistently go to the classes, you will see tremendous improvement in your overall health, self confidence, cardio and technique. The instructors are friendly, knowledgable, and really want to see you improve if you put in the time. I've found all the striking classes to be enjoyable and the other students are always eager to learn with me. Easton has turned my life around and I'd like to share my story in hopes of maybe making a difference in someone else's life. Maybe you don't think martial arts is your thing. Maybe you are too scared. Maybe you don't like being so close to such strong and seemingly intimidating people. This is how I felt when I began my jiu jitsu journey with the Easton family... Warning, the story I am about to reveal to you is a very personal, but I truly believe my story could have the potential to help others. I am truly grateful for the Easton family and I believe that it is worth all of the sweat, blood, and tears. There are some trigger warnings with my story, so please read on at your own discretion. When I was a child I was abused and had no way to defend myself. When I was in college, again I was abused and assaulted on multiple occasions. The police did nothing. I was told to keep quiet. I was crushed and felt abandoned. To top it off, to this day I am being stalked by an anti-social psychopath who refuses to respect a protection order I have against him. Throughout all of the abuse I went through, I had no way to defend myself and my self esteem was so small you had to search for it through a high-powered microscope. I was severely depressed and was plagued by anxiety. I was extremely overweight and felt like I had nowhere to go and no confidence to stick up for myself and be who I truly wanted to be. Here is where my life turned around for the better because of my Easton family! Easton helped me build my confidence, my self esteem, and my inner strength. Jiu Jitsu is a close-contact martial art. Believe me, I had to face my inner daemons to overcome some serious flashbacks I encountered when training jiu jitsu. The close proximity to big burly men made my mind go to dark places and my body froze. To be honest, I thought about quitting many times because of the pain I forced myself to endure with these flashbacks. I can tell you, it was worth all of the effort in the end! My Easton family supported me and encouraged me to keep on trying, to keep on pushing myself through uncomfortable situations. My teammates, coaches, and professors were there every step of the way. I have been training jiu jitsu for almost three years now and I no longer have those horrible flashbacks. My depression is starting to subside and my anxiety is slowly simmering down to nothing. Because of all of the support and encouragement my Easton family gave me, I have the confidence to stick up for myself. My coaches and professors encouraged me and supported me in ways they can't even imagine. Not only have I been able to overcome my fears, flashbacks, and depression through training jiu jitsu, I am now in love with the sport. I lost over 40 lbs and have become strong and more confident then ever! Jiu jistu is my life. My Easton family taught me that I can deal with any setback life might present. My Easton family has taught me to endure and to be strong. Teammates, coaches, and professors, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for turning my life around. I started training at ETC as a complete beginner and trained for almost a full year. Last August I moved to Oklahoma for personal reasons and have been trying to fund a Muay Thai gym near me. With the rise of the "McDojo" fight centers at every strip mall and corner store, it's difficult finding a fighting center that warrants as much discipline, encouragement, respect, and fighting know-how as Easton Training Center has! In my experience, ETC does a wonderful job balancing education with exercise, ESPECIALLY during the beginner kickboxing stage, when building fundamentals is so important. I COMMEND Easton Training Center and their amazing staff of friendly, courteous, and encouraging coaches on teaching me to appreciate the fundamentals, discipline me to work hard every day, and to exhibit self-control while sparring/demonstrating strikes! I'll start off with the elephant in the room -- no one has commented on the price. It is not published on their website nor will they answer your questions about it until you come in for a "free introductory class" so I did so (at their Boulder location). 179/month regardless of # of classes attended (more on that later)! The class itself was great. Coming in as a nidan candidate (1st level black belt) in Japanese karate (a Shotokan derivative), I felt that I was well-prepared compared to the other 4 newbies that were testing out the BJJ class with me. The purple belt "coach" was clearly knowledgeable and a great teacher over all. After the class us newbies received what amounted to a sales pitch from their membership coordinator. She quoted the $179/month price and offered 1/2 off their enrollment fee of 100 if we registered right then. Now... I have 11 years of karate experience in San Diego (a more expensive city than Denver) and I NEVER paid anywhere near that rate. I trained 3x/week, taught children 5-15, attended summer and winter camps and did all the other things that come along with a full-fledged karate membership. Are people really satisfied paying almost 200/month to train? All I see if 5 star reviews! I will be going back for an intermediate fundamentals class on Thursday (offered for free as well), but I don't think I will be continuing after that. day 25 of my american life i just got done training 3 days at easton brazilian jiu jitsu. it was amazing. the weather was so cold i didn't end up doing much else but training 2 times a day, about 4 hour or more hours a day. i would go there at noon. eat, hit the sauna, eat, sleep, go there again, and eat and sleep haha. in high school they called it two a days. did it in wrestling and football. felt great to just live that jock life again. i feel great in some ways, like i got cardio for days cuz of the high altitude training here but my body is banged up from traveling all over the country and training. every place i go to, when they hear what i am doing, they all say, man i want to do that or i wish i could do that. so when people ask me why i am doing this, more important is the question, why aren't you? this placed proved a theory i had. people in the suburbs or small towns are much much tougher than people in the city. people in the city are lazy yet think they are tough. all the sports stars, football wrestling, even fighters like boxers and ultimate fighters came from towns like these. very few come from the city. in the city its more posturing. every had a farm kid grab you? he has iron grip from working all his life. he would punch a hole through your head. amal's guys have great wind from training their and he really pushes your endurance with the warm ups and drills. the instruction is super detailed as well. hes a perfectionist in proper technique and you have to be when you are fighting, a slight error can cost you everything. the school is very large and they also have a denver affiliate. lots of browns, purples, and black belts. currently tyrone glover is also training there. they offer muay thai as well as conditioning classes. boulder is a hot bed for sports. i don't know how many sports specific gyms i saw from cross fit, to specialty gyms that get athletes ready for any sport. it must be the air, but they breed champions here. i loved the chance i got to train. everyone was nice and friendly and i didn't run into any spaz's training to tear my head off, well never say never cuz only a sith speaks in absolutes. read more

Visited the Easton Boulder location while traveling through the area for work. I love to get in a boxing/kickboxing class while I'm on the road and this was super convenient to my hotel. I took a Tuesday 6:30 am kickboxing class with Terrence the morning before he left for Thailand (now that's commitment!). He knew I was new to his class so took some time to walk me through the combinations he uses. A welcome primer as it was slightly different from my gym back in DC. He's an extremely attentive instructor, always providing feedback and demonstrating appropriate form to the extent you're comfortable. The class attendees are extremely friendly and very welcoming to new comers. I'll definitely be back when I travel through again! Glove/wrap rentals are reasonable as well. My only complaint is that lack of information on the website about the locker room amenities and general pricing. But 5 stars otherwise! read more

I have been going to Easton Training Center for the past few months and it has been great! I have been taking kickboxing classes, ETB 30 and Crossfit classes. This is not your typical gym. It is more of a community of people who enjoy exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. I have gone to other gyms where I will go in and out without talking to another person, but here we chat and get to know each other. As for Crossfit and ETB 30 (a 30 minute HIIT class), the instructors here really care about you using correct form while executing the exercises. We done a fair amount of time warming up and doing dynamic stretches before starting the workout. Each exercise is always demonstrated and we never use heavy weight until we have shown that we can do the exercises properly with no or light weights. The classes are hard and you really feel like you get a good workout every time. I always leave super sweaty and energized to continue my day! As for kickboxing, it is also a really good workout and they always walk around the room to make sure people are throwing their kicks and punches correctly. The kickboxing instructors have all had a lot of training and I know many if not all of them have trained in Thailand and they definitely know what they are doing. I have enjoyed all my classes a bunch! read more

One would think that with a two-hundred dollar a month membership fee, customer service would be a priority. I have been training here for over two years and I love everything about this gym!!! I have done many different kinds of work outs and sports and I can tell you nothing gets you in shape like BJJ. Not only are you working every muscle in your body, but you are also using your brain to figure out your next move! This is my new favorite place to be!! I just started kickboxing about a month ago at Easton in Boulder after wanting to learn for 14 years. The staff were so welcoming and encouraging when I first came in, and Coach Terrence's classes and Coach Alyssa's classes are amazing!!!!! I went from not exercising much other than long dance running after having my two kids to getting killer 60-minute workouts from these coaches and learning true Muay Thai kickboxing 4 times per week! Easton is a really great space which fosters discipline, respect, and fun, and these coaches really get you to challenge yourself to learn the technique and be the best student and person that you can be. They have class times to fit early morning risers like me, plus 12pm for lunch time workout, and later in the afternoon, as well as weekend classes too. The place is toxic--literally. They clean the place with chlorine and Pinesol shortly before the little kids come in for afternoon class. It reeks such that you can hardly breathe because the chemicals haven't had time to evaporate and the ventilation system in not adequate to dissipate the fumes. My son had been going there for 1.5 years when they started doing this. My son and I are extremely chemically sensitive, so I asked them if we could find some less toxic way to clean the mats. The first representative I spoke with was openly hostile and admitted to me that he was hostile to making any changes. Eventually, the owner got involved and, while personally more civil, continued with the same passive aggressive behavior of not responding to emails until I wrote a second time or responding without actually answering my questions or addressing my concerns. Ironically, the owner's own mother is extremely chemically sensitive and also cannot go into BJJ because of the fumes. This dragged on for over 6 months, at which point, they agreed to get the cleaning done earlier so that the kids and parents don't have to breathe in the toxic fumes. That day when I went in, it was better. Then it went right back to the same old thing. When my son insisted for the milionth time that he wanted to quit, I simply could not defend them anymore, so I let him quit. So my opinion is, go there if you don't care about your child's or your own health and you don't mind being treated with incredible disrespect. read more
