If you've read my other reviews, you'd know Hubby and I have had more than the average number of lessons, and we do go out on our own at home in San Diego, but we'd like to get a lesson at any new beach when available. And thank GOODNESS we did here on this particular day. The other two students both have surfed only once with a lesson before, and it seemed everyone loved the experience. Nick took the time to understand our abilities first, then assessed the surf and decided on the best spot for the easiest time paddling out. A bit of a work out just carrying the boards a good quarter mile down the beach. It was incredibly choppy that day, so he instructed us to paddle out right in the riptide, then cut across the sand bank to the line up. It all worked out beautifully, and I got some amazing waves with Nick giving me a push and telling me exactly when to pop up, even rode in on the super intimidating overhead ones I normally probably would be too scared to try. However, when I took a break on the beach, the second time paddling out was exponentially more difficult. Nick was able to push my board, with me on it, past these crazy waves, because I was about to turn around and give up. Another student had an emergency, and he was able to go help her, then come back and continue to push me past the breaking waves, so that I could get one more ride back to shore. I absolutely trust him to keep everyone safe and still make sure each person have a great time. Overall, probably top 2-3 surfing lesson across the 20+ we've had! Equipment was fairly new and in good shape. Changing facilities were basic but serviceable.

You just take the ferry (every 10-20 minutes) from Circular Quay by the opera house then walk ten minutes north east to manly beach from the ferry terminal at Manly.

Definitely a fan!…read more The last time I picked up a bow and arrow I killed a wild boar. I was 15. Twelve years later and still strong. The weather was heaps good and had great company which made the experience even better. $26 for group events having your own section for 1.5 hour is not bad if you ask me. At first while waiting for the rest of the gang to arrive I thought to myself, awesome! Can't wait to hold Hawkeye's bow ... 15 minutes later and ended up with a wooden bow and arrow - fail. Little did I know the first section were the professional players training for whatever they are training and we use the amateur bows haha. Not sure whether all the staff there are like that or not, but the facilitator we got was pretty dull and boring. Seemed like she hates her job and just needs to be there for the sake of it. But doesn't really matter who's there to be honest, you don't really need to speak to them anyway, just listen to when to pick up the arrows and when to shoot. Can't wait for round 2!

We had such an amazing morning ride with Andre today!…read more Visiting from the US, we wanted to get a bit of park/nature exposure but weren't sure where would be safe and open during the wildfire disaster. Seeing that Glenworth was open for business, however, it seemed like a fun way to get out into the forest. The ride went well beyond my expectations. I've been on a few guided tours, and they can be a bit of a snore, especially if you've got any experience riding previously. Not here - the trail had a lot of variation, which was fun, and we got to trot a bit and practice going beyond a walk. My husband has never ridden before, and it was amazing to see him standing and trotting like a pro at the end of the ride. Great teachers certainly help and I'm sure the riding instruction here is great too! Our guides were all super friendly and personable and clearly know the horses very well. They have a lot of animals here but the staff know them all by name, and know who their friends and family all are, which was really fun to hear about as they chose which other horses to line up next to. We saw wallabies and goanas along the track, and just had an amazing time. If you've got a car with you and don't mind about an hour there and back from Sydney, it's a wonderful way to get a breather from the hustle and bustle at a very well fun ranch. Thank you!

Imagine a ditch that is in pathway but is hidden by over-grown grass ! Very dangerous and accident-prone. The worst thing is that the management knows about this and do not take any ownership or responsibility to fix this. Their attitude is like 'we have a big site....we cannot take care of or sign-post every hazard.' It's an appalling attitude by management. Certainly this is not a campsite to go to unless you want to risk injury or getting your vehicle damaged. A minus 10 score from us (thumbs down for this over-glorified site).

As in we have had a couple dozens of lessons across Hawaii, Southern California, Costa Rica, and now Australia. We've tried going out on our own with friends to a new spot before, and nearly drowned. So since then, we've decided to always get a lesson first in an unfamiliar beach to get some local insight, and, well, try not to die, plus maybe just get a tiny bit better at catching a few waves. We got 10 students to 2 instructors, not a bad ratio for a group lesson. Lenny and Fred were super laid back and friendly. It was 2 hour lesson, but we spent over half an hour of it just stretching and doing introductions. For another half an hour, we learned about how the waves are formed, the areas to avoid, where the riptides are, etc. All important information, don't get me wrong. Just know that 1 hour of active time is more than enough for most beginners. Our instructors were great at pushing us into the waves at the right time. Every time they gave me a push, I popped up with no problem. When I tried on my own, it was more failure than success. They gave me only a couple pointers as to what I could do to improve, but understandably they were busy with everyone else. I believe every single student had a good pop up by the end of the class. The only thing I was disappointed about was that we stuck to white water only and did not go to the line up for some green waves. However, we came back the next day on our own and rented boards from here at a very reasonable price (A$70 with wetsuit for 2 hours per person), carried it over to the beach, and I actually paddled out and got a great session in! At home, we still use foam boards, and there are signs everywhere on the beach that said foam boards only, I guess for safety reasons? Intermediate to pro surfers, I'm not sure if you'd get the same enjoyment out of Bondi, but maybe try Manly instead.
