I'm admittedly just getting back into playing again, but man there is an incredible selection here. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable and pointed us in the right direction. It's a tight, cozy building but I think they were talking about moving soon (don't quote me on that!) Best of all, their whole selection is online so if you have non-buyer's remorse and want to buy something you tried in the store, you can have it shipped to you for free. (Great for out of town visitors like us.) Absolutely will be stopping back in here when I start playing more and I'm back in town. read more

EMS is everything you could want in a music shop! They have a fantastic selection of gear that changes weekly with a down to earth and knowledgable staff that makes you feel right at home! Their selection of guitar pedals is amazing and will encourage you to try them out. Last time I was there they let me make experimental space noise for about two hours all the while feeding me different pedals to explore! I took a chance and ordered from this store for the first time. Apparently, it's not possible to reach anyone through either of the 3 email addresses available. I tried to setup a return (the day I received the item) and still haven't received a reply. When I called the store they said I was past the 3 days allowed for a return......WTF? I was also told the manager would be in touch with me about my order, this also did not happen. Needless to say, this was my first and last order through this guitar store and I will definitely be taking my business back to a reputable store in the future. Lesson learned I guess. read more

I'm a drummer trying to pick up guitar, so when I say I know nothing about pedals, I know..nothing. Luckily, EMS is the place to go. Josh helped me pick out the Caroline Guitars Météore to add to my setup and took the time to demo a few pedals explain how the internal electronics work as an introduction. A great store run by great people! They seem to work really hard on getting gear (especially pedals) you don't see or hear about in most of the other stores in town. Its a small little shop with a limited selection as far as guitars, but everything they have is unique and of absolute quality. I picked up a Fender Bassman 4x10 combo and a Bondi Effects "Sick As" Overdrive and let me say, it was a sweeeeettttt deal. I haven't used their guitar techs yet, but I plan to take both my electric and acoustic in for a set up relatively soon. I will deliver my next experience! Visited Nashville recently. Just being in the same city where giants in country music shaped our American audioscape makes you want to be a part of that. Went to this store to see what kind of secondhand acoustic guitars they might have for a middle aged novice. We arrived 30 minutes before posted business hours and Blair, the owner, graciously let us in. The acoustics he had available were geared toward the more serious musician. He did have a couple lower end electrics but I had my heart set on an acoustic. Even though I didn't purchase anything, he was patient, kind and helpful. They stay open later which is also geared toward the serious/ professional musician. If you're looking for a guitar, def make a stop here. East Nashville, like many small communities, is making a resurgence and we want to see these areas thrive. Therefore, we need to support the small businesses that anchor them. I took a kauer daylighter in for some electrical work that needed to be done, and couldn't be happier with the work or the turn around time.
