Even non-guitar seekers will enjoy stepping in to The Gibson Garage. There's quite a bit of history and tons of craftsmanship in every corner here. The staff greeted us warmly, and it was fun to see all of the models and read the history of each guitar and the musicians who play them. The price tags are steep, even for T-shirts, so bring your $$$ if you are ready to spend.

The Gibson garage is such a cool experience, whether you're a tourist or a local. I'm not a guitar player but regardless, the shop is quite the spectacle. Over 200 guitars are hung rotating around the main shop room, a super cool feature. There are separate areas for custom builds, acoustics, historic and various types of guitars and equipment. The private tour of the vault was so interesting and felt truly exclusive. Would love to come back and check out a show sometime.

Great store, great experience even if you don't play. For those that don't play there is some nice looking merch available too. Yes, you can create your custom dream Gibson here too.

This is a cool place just minutes away from downtown Nashville. We were in town for a concert and had some time to spare, so our guitar playing son suggested we drop in. They sell new guitars as well as used gear. The staff is very knowledgeable. They can help you find the perfect instrument for your price range, or assist with repairs. It was cool that you can try out a guitar. They also offer lessons. There is even a custom shop where you can pick out your wood, your finish, your pickups, and your knobs. Definitely a dreams place for a guitarist.

Came in for a private event and it was a blast! From the moment we entered, I was in love- the literal rainbow know of gorgeous guitars hanging on a belt slowly circling the giant lobby was incredible. The private tour was fantastic as well- we got to see the green room, the "secret vault," and some amazing HISTORICAL guitars worth way more than my house. The staff was so friendly and fun. Go play guitars to your heart's content, watch live acts on the intimate stage, buy Gibson swag, and check out all the guitar brands. Definitely worth a trip here if you're even remotely into music and guitars!

PROS: this is absolutely the BEST guitar store I've ever been to. Inventory was plentiful with guitars and souvenirs along with repair services. You can also play with the guitars CONS: some of the workers there aren't too friendly. They act like they don't want to be there OVERALL: I'm not even a guitar enthusiast and I would go back. So if you do like music, this is the place for you

This place was really cool the fiance loved it and it was awesome to see the guitars on the belt floating around the store! Would definitely recommend going to take a look if your downtown.

If you like guitars....This is definitely a destination you want to visit on your trip to Nashville. Great selection of electric and acoustics. You can custom make a guitar with oodles of options: You want a 59 burst with a 60s slim neck no prob. You can select pickups, finishes...yatta yatta yatta. They also carry mesa boogie which they purchase a while back. I came to see the Murphy Lab guitars. They have their own little section and they are pretty amazing. Seriously even if you don't care much of guitars the place is quite the trip to experience. Tip: If you're guitar shopping start here and work you way to Carter Vintage, Rumble Seat and finish up at Gruhn's......it is basically a straight line and about a mile to walk.

We had a blast here! It's not like your typical guitar shop where you're scared to touch anything or speak too loudly. All of the employees are frieldbly, knowledgeable, and eager to help you. There's really a rock & roll vibe here. There's music playing, a stage, stage lights, a conveyor belt on the ceiling with guitars hanging from it, as well as different places where you can try guitars/amps.

If you love guitars as much as my husband, you will need to stop by here. My husband and kid enjoyed here by trying out so many guitars and the staff here are super friendly. They also have cute and exclusive merch too. Worth a visit when you are in town!

If you are a music buff and/or like (or play) guitars... this is the place for you. Great selection of guitars and paraphanalia. Extremely friendly service.

Metered street parking. It's not expensive but I don't remember the exact price

My personal favorite is the Custom 0 Kenneth Pattengale Special. A few years ago I was trying one out, and George Gruhn himself came up to me and we had a conversation about the guitar. They have a wide variety of instruments, from standard flat top acoustics, to resonators, electrics, classical guitars, and even ukuleles. The staff has always been excellent, encouraging me to try anything I wanted, and leaving me alone to do so. But being available when I had questions. When Kim Sherman took the reigns in 1998, she raised the bar from Richard Cotten's little corner hideaway into a world class guitar shop. Her warmth and Kentucky charm was blended with her vast knowledge of guitars, artists and the know how to suite every player's needs at any price range. That's no small fete. But, she did it by treating every buyer as special regardless of the size of their pocketbook. Placing goodness and honesty over the value of the dollar, her adoring fandom grew. This year, she was able to expand her inventory to include rare masterpieces from boutique makers from the world over by her partnership with London-based The North American Guitar. And, rather than losing the identity of her great shop where genuine warmth and Nashville courtesy always reigned supreme, she carefully chose her expanded staff to ensure her philosophy was not lost. It's still Kim's fabulous corner of the guitar universe, but, bigger and better. To quote Kim, her single goal is "to just do right by my customers." And, that she does, as she has for 22 years, and will likely continue to do as long as there are guitars and players who need them.
