When we finally were told to board, we were yelled for not having our passports ready, even though it was a local flight and we were not told previously to have them out. We were flying business class, and the seats did not even have extra leg room. It was a short flight, but business class amounted to sitting in front and receiving a snack and drink. Then we arrived in Madrid, where after 90 minutes, we started to ask, and an employee told us they were coming and we just have to wait, but we hadn't even given him our flight number yet! The next person we spoke to confirmed they were lost. They told us that we could buy replacement clothing and essentials and we would be reimbursed. Over the course of 3 days, they never contacted us, forcing me to call them repeatedly for updates, only to be told to go buy more clothes. The only instruction we were given was to avoid "luxury items" which we did. In the end, we sent in all our receipts to be told that they were reimbursing less than half our expenses because "only 2 of 4 bags were delayed for 2 days.." When I corrected them that 2 of 2 (all) bags were delayed for 3 days, they said that did not change their reimbursement calculation. I will avoid Iberia at all costs in the future and recommend everyone do the same.

Weeks before my actual flight, I got an email saying that I could "upgrade" my itinerary by choosing "priority boarding". I did for like 8 euros and I am glad I did. During boarding I got into Zone 2 and I got lot of overhead space for my roller board bag. No issues there. The crew was friendly, the only thing is you have to pay for anything...water, soda, drink snacks...nothing is complimentary. We left on time and arrived on time. Good experience.

Upon weighing the 3rd bag, the agent told us we would need to pay for it which I expected. What I didn't expect was that it would be $80! I later found out that bags are priced by weight, so the agent could have charged us for one of our lighter bags. I also found that we also could have openned up the app right there and paid another $15 for a 3rd bag. So I'm pissed that we got a sh!thead agent who knowingly charged us more than she had to. This is certainly cultural for the airline where they do not instill in their employees the need to take care of their customers best interests. Honestly I would probably fly them again if it was really cheap but only because I know better about their baggage scams and crappy customer service.

Finally arrived 5 days later and I picked it up from the airport literally in the nick of time to head to a cruise, where my luggage never would have found me. Rude employees at the airport, useless employees regarding lost luggage and now, I can't make a claim for the replacement items I bought because their system won't recognize the booking code on my ticket. Had to write corporate offices in Spain and will sue if I have to.

This may seem like a given, but if you fly a lot then you know delays happen constantly for a myriad of completely reasonable reasons. However, no one likes a delay so this is a nice selling point for Iberia. My main issue with the airline on my flight was their internet was so frustrating. I paid 24 Euros for one way access on my trip, as I always try to get work done while I fly and their WiFi was so unreliable. It didn't connect well and I couldn't get much done which for a 12 hour flight was driving me mad. Also, it's a big shame that I purchased a 4500 Euro ticket for Business/First Class and the internet is not included, as it's usually included on other airlines. Now I realize this is a champagne problem so I'll reserve my further anger on the topic~ haha! That aside, I thought service and all the little extras were cute. We got little travel bags full of amenities like a toothbrush, toothpaste and socks for the flight. The food was subpar compared to other airlines I've been on but it got the job done. I also love when first class seats lay completely flat for sleeping! Long live pods on international flights - it's the best! The flight to Barcelona was nearly 12 hours and home from Madrid was 11, but both were pretty painless aside from the internet.

While on the plane service was pretty standard was provided with a welcome drink, amenity kit, nice dinner, tons on movies onboard, comfy seat, nice flight attendants. Galway through the flight we were given ice cream and prior to landing sandwiches which I got an extra one since they were good. It's my airline to fly on out of Spain hands down.

I have flow with AirEuropa about 5-6 times, all connecting through Madrid. I specifically chose…read morethem since they are a SkyTeam partner, and they offer pretty cheap fares. You're able to bring on a personal item and carry on baggage (they also don't seem to weigh carry on bags, unlike budget carriers). Notably, as a SkyTeam elite member you get a free checked bag and seat selection for regular seats on a basic economy ticket. Pretty good benefits, when things go right. Well the drawbacks are that AirEuropa has been late on half of the flights I've been on, specifically the Madrid-Barcelona route on their Boeing 787 (Flight UX7703), which seems to have a bunch of mechanical problems. The times I've been on this route, it's been delayed due to mechanical issues. Other routes I've been on (Malaga, Lisbon, Frankfurt) are on their 737, and I haven't had as many issues with those flights (if any, a very minor 20-30min delay if any). When you factor flight time, going to the airport, security, and then add on top the delay, it's definitely faster taking the train vs flying MAD-BCN in the experiences I've had. Even though AirEuropa is considered a "main line" carrier, its domestic European routes do not include any amenities (eg no free snacks or drinks). But this is to be expected as it is part of the growing trend of lowering costs by the European air carriers, to be competitive with budget rivals like Easyjet, Ryanair, and Wizz. Now this begs the question? Would I fly with them again? Yes, but not on the Madrid-Barcelona 787 route. I don't recommend this route. I have had too many big delays on this route, that in the future I would prefer to avoid it. But other routes? Definitely, if the price is good.

I checked in but then the item was queried by airport security, i showed them the 'saw was dry and all electrics disconnected and they passed it for dispatch. Air Europa airstaff then refused to load the chainsaw and it was retained by one of their ground crew in Montevideo with the understanding they would get it to me at a later date. 2 months later, I have still not received it. Air Europa response has been that I can go to Monetvideo airport and collect it, I live in Portugal! They have failed to explain why a permitted item was arbitrarily refused by the aircrew and provided a satisfactory solution to returning the chainsaw. It seems none of the supervisory organisations have any sway in these instances so AirEuropa are basically stealing my property with impunity. What a bunch of unreliable, unhelpful people inhabit all corners of their customer service (sic!!) dept. I have a high level frequent flyer status with the Flying Blue group which AE belongs to but this has left a sour taste in my mouth.
