La Compagnie - Dinner served Newark to Paris.

Why wait to start your vacation until you land. La…read moreCompagnie is a treat itself, from the moment you board until you land! Loved the whole experience, the all business class seats where so comfortable and the service was great. This review was overdue and given the opportunity, I will definitely fly with La Compagnie on my future trips to Paris!

This morning I was greeted by an email from LaCompagnie with the following included:…read more "This summer, book it and breathe. Ready to make it a European summer? Fly Business class to Europe for $2990 r/t, and if your plans shift, no problem. modify your ticket with no change fees up to departure." If this is not an example of misleading advertising, then I don't know what is. For the past two days, my husband and I have been attempting to "modify our ticket" because our "plans have shifted," to use the language of the advertisement. While we may not have encountered "no change fees," we have instead encountered a surprisingly hefty fee that cannot even be explained to us by the various employees in the reservations department. FI've days ago, I sent the following to customer care department (to which I have yet to receive a reply): I have been a customer of LACompagnie since its inception, as well as of its earlier iterations L'Avion and OpenSkies, but my loyalty is waning. Your website makes it seem that changing a ticket only may involve a fare change, but this is deceptive. My husband and I have tickets to and from Paris for which we paid $7372. To change these tickets to a later date essentially means we incur a penalty of $1600. For example, the same itinerary on 22 Nov with a return on 02 Dec is $7012.14 on your web site; on 14 January with a 06 Feb return, it is $6418.14. BUT to change to either would mean we would have to add $1600 to the $7372 we have already paid. No other airline we have ever flown (and we are intrepid travelers) has charged us MORE than we originally paid for an itinerary that is LESS. In fact, checking AirFrance for the November itinerary, I see that we would pay less for their business class than if we added $1600 to the $7372 already paid, coming to a hefty $8972 versus $8118 on AirFrance, which also has the advantage for us of gaining SkyMiles. While we do appreciate the convenience of flying to Orly, this does not outweigh the ability to preserve the value of a ticket but instead be gouged with what amounts to a hidden surcharge. I have since perused various travel websites with forums, such as TripAdvisor, only to discover that others have had the same experience of being misled into believing that tickets can be easily modified. I believe that In the interest of retaining customers, LaCompagnie needs to follow the best practices of other carriers and treat its customers in an ethical, transparent manner.

1 of 2 Yelp reviews…read more Quality/Quantity - Huge airport, 4 terminals. Too bad the terminals do not connect. Especially since our lounge was in terminal 1 and our flight was in terminal 4... But we were able to get into the Prime Class lounge; see other review. French Bee - First time (and maybe the last time) using. The experience was below average, think Spirit Airlines, the one that just closed with little to no notice... French Bee - Because we got here too early, they were not open yet. The employees (the manager, actually a very rude manager) told us to get in the WRONG line. And then the other employees would NOT honor our place. So about 6 of us had to get back to the original line we were at before being told to move. But of course, we are not last in line... Such bad service. The actual service on the plane was NOT much better. Nothing is included, you need to pay for everything. There was one amazing employee, and I wish I got her name. Ambiance - No frills for French Bee. Because we got here so early, getting through everything and the processes and getting to the gate was okay. Service - None. Well we had to go through security a few times, immigration, etc. Longer process than we expected so it was a good thing we got here so early. Price - $600 a person for our flight. We only chose this because it was one of the few direct flights available at the time of booking it a year ago. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

If flying out of Paris to international destinations (ie UK) Orly is a seamless experience. They…read morehad a line for baggage dropoff that should have closed 90 minutes before flights, but in classic Parisian style, everyone in the flight arrived a few minutes before cutoff and there was no rush or need for last minute dropoffs since everyone was in line together. Baggage dropoff for Vueling was in Terminal 1, just to the right of the small and line-free tax free customs refund office which is located centrally. Customs took about 15 minutes to complete. Baggage line took about 30 minutes. Security and customs and departure for Vueling is in Terminal 3, a 15 minute walk to the left. Security will take 10-20 minutes, and then you arrive at customs. Customs line moves relatively quick, with a 5 minute wait, but the customs officer is definitely one of the most detailed I've seen, so don't be surprised if they spend 10 minutes checking page of your passport. Thankfully, the D gates (starting D12) are right behind the customs gates, less than 30 feet away. There's a Paul cafe and toilets right by gate D14. Passports and flight tickets will be checked at least 5 times during this process, but otherwise a seamless and relatively efficient process.
