Their shaved ice is like a fine snow that almost evaporates on the tongue, leaving a huge burst of tasty tasty flavor. And speaking of flavors, you won't find the rainbow assortment here. Honey's has less than a dozen, I'd wager. But in addition to the usual standbys, they have several "organic" flavors, made with cane sugar and natural flavors. I actually broke with personal long-standing tradition and passed up blue raspberry for the organic peach flavor, and boy howdy was I rewarded. Major peach punch-the-face with evaporating snow iciness. Delicious. Add to that, the cutest food truck ever, although you probably shouldn't call it a truck. Honey's is a bright yellow converted Bajaj auto-rickshaw. Easy to spot, but if you're not sure, look for the fat man running after it like a kid to the ice cream truck. That would be me. Oh, and they don't have marshmallow fluff, so don't even ask. But if you're partial to that, you're hating on me by now anyway.

However, Quality Snowballs opened in 2019 in Hampden, just before the pandemic hit and became an outside comfort food go-to when we badly needed an outside social event to uplift us. They have a classics and specialties list and the usual fun toppings. Service is good from their dolled up open storage container--and the whole point, still, is the social aspect of standing online with others of your species in thrall to one of the food mysteries of modern times--the snowball! Anyhoo, I'm a purest and always go for traditional before I try anything new. So I ordered a watermelon and strawberry flavor combo with marshmallow. It was just what I needed on this hot summer afternoon as I wandered around Hampden. Mural Bonus: Check out the Hon-Rat mural nearby. Definitely a destination spot for snowball and mural aficionados!

The locals said egg custard was a classic choice and it was delicious. My friends got key lime pie, and the other got the creme brulee. Sure you have to take it go, but Hampden is a nice place to walk around, hey you might even bump into John Waters.

It was delicious, and absolutely large enough for two. It was loaded up with toppings and even had another layer of the toppings at the bottom. Amazing dessert, would definitely return for another bingsoo and to give their lunch menu a try!

Toppings in the bowl include mochi, mango jelly, and mango cubes. On top is some mochi, mango slices, and a scoop of passion fruit sorbet. There is mango sauce and condensed milk throughout the bowl. The staff spent a lot of effort to make the bowl pretty and did a nice job of mixing the ingredients so that you don't have toppings on top only. The shop seems cute and there seems like there would be more things available when the owner is in. They have lunch boxes that look good. They also have takoyaki on the menu but the machine is currently down. One thing that I didn't like is that the item was different from the menu description. I was expecting mango snow and mango ice cream or sorbet. It's not the end of the world but I picked this one in particular because it was supposed to be mango snow. While the bingsoo is large enough to share, I also feel it is priced a bit high for what it is. Might be because there aren't many other laces like this in the area but bingsoo is usually bigger or less pricey. Overall, a decent stop for dessert if you want something a little different. Street parking was not that hard to find when we went.

There was live music and dancing which I think was part of a kids program or class. You can play pool or just chill under the tent and watch tv. There was a baseball game playing when I went. The checkered spot was there serving brews as well. This is a dog friendly environment as well as kid friendly. When I got there they had just taken a break. Probably to clean the equipment and refresh the supplies. So although I did wait a long time on a very hot day I can't say it was because of bad service. The staff was actually pretty nice and kept apologizing for the wait. Prices are average. They offer custom made syrups which I will try on the next trip. This trip was to get the rainbow that I saw in TikTok. The snow ball itself was really big. What I didn't like was the container. Although it was perfect to display my rainbow, I feel like it wasn't big enough to hold the contents. And my snowball melted fast so it was a little soupy in the bowl. Silver lining is that the container is eco friendly. Parking is difficult here. There is a tiny lot but only 5 cars can fit at once and it seems tightbto get in and out of there. I did get lucky and found street parking very close. But if all else fails, there is a parking lot across the street if you don't mind paying or plan to be in the area a while.

We decided to get two small snowballs; one egg custard and one grape. They were $3 each. At the time of our visit, they were only accepting cash and the young lady informed me that the electronic pay options should be active shortly. Our snowballs were ready in no time. The small size was just enough for me. The snowball's ice texture was enough for it to melt upon impact, which I liked. The flavoring was sweet and did not taste artificial. After the snowball sat for a couple of minutes, the flavoring still held up well to the melted ice, which I also liked. All in all, a decent snowball and one stand I would return to the future.
