The house manager Jules, is an angel. She truly fights for each clients rights and wants the best for them. The clinicians Kate and Isabelle are AMAZING! Kate was my therapist and she is so intelligent and empathetic that fueled my healing process. The whole house staff was amazing as well.. no words to describe the superior level of care I received. Along with the connections, education and support I received I have never felt so much kindness in my life by everyone during my month stay. It was bitter sweet out processing but thankful for this investment to my trauma healing journey.

I was shocked and…read moreappalled to be berated by Cabaret who would lecture me about what "real pain was" telling me "people in wheelchairs" knew "real pain" - the funniest part is that my mom's twin is a quadriplegic so telling me that people in wheelchairs are the only ones with real pain was rich coming from Cabaret.... I started bringing a family member with me at all times to appointments just because the way he spoke to me was so unprofessional, and they all agreed witnessed how he would berate, speak down to and invalidate anything I said, because to Cabaret since I didn't have a physical handicap, my pain wasn't valid to him - even though I had several autoimmune conditions with chronic pain as well as severe rheumatoid arthritis and degenerative disc conditions... After ~2 years of this I stopped seeing him altogether: I couldn't deal with graveling for help for months and receiving treatment here or there while enduring being talked to and treated in such a horrible way. I actually gave up on pain management docs for ~8 years because of experiences here... I powered through pain for so long I ended up with an TLIF spinal fusion with disc replacement due to severe central canal stenosis after going to ER for back pain, I was put in an ambulance for an emergency spinal surgery on a Sunday to prevent paralysis (I was riding my motorcycle through the pain of severe central canal stenosis that required ambulatory transfer and emergency spinal fusion surgery on a Sunday). I was fortunate to finally receive compassionate care from both a neurosurgeon and pain management doctor as recovered (located in Ventura). About a year after my spinal fusion: I needed a facet block and MBB RFA due to nerve pain that never resolved after the surgery. My quality of life is so much better - I feel like I am part of the living again. I hate medications and the side effects of them, but sometimes they are necessary, and sometimes injections or surgical procedures are also necessary for relief. Thankfully, now I see physicians who are compassionate and listen to both visible and invisible pain and will work to find the root cause of it - all while treating me with decency, like I'm a human being.

Not only does Dr. Cabaret do traditional pain management with epidural injections, medication, and physical therapy; but Cabaret looks holistically as you as a person, and wants to hear your mental, emotional, and spiritual pain. Dr. Cabaret is a big supporter of alternatives including CBD, Acupuncture, and Massage Therapy. If you are a patient that is also having issues with addiction to opiates or pain medication, Dr Cabaret also assists with medicated aided treatment for opiate dependence. His background, experience, and professionalism make him a solid provider for this life saving service. What I admire most about Dr Cabaret is he takes accountability and ownership in your pain management. Dr Cabaret will do everything that he can to help you ease your pain, but it takes two (you the patient and Dr Cabaret). If you are not ready to put in your work to help improve your pain management, this is not the place for you.

But at Omnia there is an amazing community and they give practical advice on how to live life after treatment ends, which is a huge part of what is missing elsewhere. Another downside, for me, is that when they order any kind of test, the order has an expiration date in a week or two. I'm a senior, don't drive, and suffer from fibromyalgia with severe fatigue. All the orders from my independent drs are good for 6-12 mos! I'm guessing that large medical corporations serve a wider variety of clients, often across the entire country, so some are unreliable and do things without discussing with their drs, ergo the corporate CYA policies. Ok, but that's not me, and the independent drs I've always seen know that. Computers do not. I'm now 65 and the doctors I was with for 25+ years straight are retiring sadly. Or going "concierge" style. I got a phone message saying that my dr won't be in the day my next appt is set after all. AGAIN!! ! Each time it's ANOTHER 3-4 months before they can fit me in. Because of my fatigue added to being a lifelong "night owl", I can only do afternoon appts. I can't get to sleep until at least 3 am most nights. I also had to change my phone's "do not disturb" settings because UCLA calls at 7 am. All my life I have been taught it's rude to call others at home before 9 am. So I never get to talk to the office or person that called, since when I call back it's routed to that call center. Extremely impersonal. No one there has ANY medical training, not even receptionist level, all they do is look for open spaces on a computer screen. No empathy, and zero offers of any other way to schedule an appointment or ask a question- you have to push for any of that. When I use the app, I can interact directly with my dr's office, but it's still a series of steps from who reads my message, to a nurse or other medical assistant, to the dr, then back to me. This leads to very poor information sharing. I prefer a much more individualized approach.
