I recently came to House of Shine to attend a junk journaling class. The environment was friendly,…read moreinviting and the space was beautiful. Before the class starts, one of the staff will discuss the vision behind House of Shine and ways to get involved. They have a yearly rotating exhibit with interactive activities throughout the space. Amanda the founder of DFW Junk Journaling Club was our instructor. Amanda provided information on junk journaling, showed examples through her own journals, provided supplies and answered any questions we had. The journaling classes are low cost ($10) and they have ample parking available on site. We were encouraged to bring our own supplies for junk journaling which includes receipts, stickers, pictures, cards etc. The class was casual and you could come and go as you pleased. There are meetups throughout the year for those interested in junk journaling discussed on their Instagram page or on linktree. I left the class inspired and look forward to expanding my creativity through journaling. I look forward to attending another journaling class in May.

Reached out to them in desperation as I was living in my car and they reached out next morning asap eager to provide any assistance they could. I had been calling 20-30 homeless shelters and organizations a day trying to seek immediate shelter, and this ranch is the only place that stepped up to take me in . The owners are generous beyond words, just unconditional love and support every step of the way. Their cause is noble, their hearts are boundless, and they truly live by example. Could gush over them for days for all the help they've given me. Amazing housing accommodations- literally fully stocked cottage with the most tasteful decor and well thought out necessities already provided. If something wasn't there, they were eager to provide it asap. The farm is just adorable; all the animals are well taken care of and are such a pleasure to visit. It's quiet, comfortable, peaceful, and you can tell how much care was poured into putting these places together. Just all the little touches they've added. There's a full-sized oven/stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, washer and dryer provided, a place to shower, storage embedded for me to squirrel away belongings as needed, too lol. Roku TV was installed in my current unit today. Free and good Wi-Fi. Keurig for coffee. Even a water purifier! O_O Seriously what homeless shelter does that?? None. None I tell you. I've been there, lived in a shelter for 6 months, and this ranch blows every other place out of the water. Especially on purses, shoes, and furniture. A lot of it felt wildly inflated, even compared to Goodwill. I kept browsing out of sheer curiosity and couldn't wrap my head around some of the tags: used plastic shoes priced at $40+, a worn out Michael Kors bag for $30. The clothing section seemed more reasonably priced, although I didn't notice any higher-value brands to really justify a comparison. Overall, this place feels very hit or miss. You might stumble across a decent find, but anything with a recognizable name seems to be marked up far beyond what it's worth.

And I think "upscale" is a bit of a stretch for the name. It's a nice thrift store, not really upscale at all. My dog just had his first dental cleaning today, and the entire experience was seamless and incredibly AFFORDABLE. The Process I started this journey at the beginning of the year by calling to inquire about costs. The staff was wonderful--they were very friendly and answered every single one of my questions without rushing me. A few days later, they followed up to get us scheduled and handled the deposit over the phone. It was very organized from the jump. Drop-off & Staff When we arrived for drop-off, I'll admit I was a bit nervous because the line was quite long. However, the TCAP team is a well-oiled machine! They were so quick and efficient that the line moved in no time. What really touched me was how they handled my dog. He has some anxiety, and the friendly staff went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable and calm before taking him back. It's clear they truly care about the animals, not just the procedure. Pick-up & Aftercare Pick-up was just as smooth. They provided thorough after-procedure care instructions and the necessary medications so I knew exactly what to do once we got home. We were back to our day in no time! Bottom line: If you need dental work or wellness services for your pet, TCAP provides professional, compassionate care at a fraction of the cost of a traditional vet. We will definitely be back!
