Food Walks Of Texas - Cute stop along the walk! Tall Paul was so sweet to take our picture!

A wonderful taste of McKinney history! I went with my three friends and we had a great time with…read moreTall Paul in downtown McKinney. All four of us have lived in McKinney for over 10 years, and even as long time residents of McKinney we learned so much about our wonderful city. I'll admit, even though we come to the square often, there were places I had never been to so it was great to try something new. We frequent Cadillac Pizza but had never tried their Goat and Fig pizza, and will definitely be ordering it again. I have to say my favorite stop on the tour was Butcher Board- another one we have often thought of trying, but have never stopped in before. The sandwich at Butcher Board was fantastic and I really enjoyed hearing all about the care and quality that goes into their food. Essentialz is a new addition to McKinney and funnily enough the owner used to teach Chemistry at our alma mater. The Pantry is a McKinney staple and I think it's great that this tour is able to incorporate both the new businesses and the long-standing businesses on the square. Paul put up with all my questions throughout the tour lol and was exceptionally informative. If you are a history buff, this tour is for you! You will hear all about the little quirks in McKinney's history (like why there is a law against bringing elephants to the square) and how the city came to be a bright spot for us in recent years. It was supposed to rain the day of our tour, so we did need to plan accordingly, and it ended up being quite hot/humid (welcome to Texas). There was water provided at each stop and plenty of time for restroom breaks as well. Thanks to Paul for a great Sunday tour for some McKinney residents!

Three of us met Tall Paul, the owner and tour guide on the square in McKinney Texas. When thinking about starting the business,he and his wife attended a school in Chicago on the subject. Evidently, Chicago is known for food tours. Basically, over a 5 hour period(it was supposed to be 31/2) Paul walked us around old downtown McKinney enlightening us on the history of this lovely North Texas Town and stopping in for small bites and drinks. Our first stop at 11 am on Sunday was an Irish pub! I have to think back a long time to remember when I may have been drinking beer at 11 am on Sunday! I bet 100 years ago people of McKinney would have been up in arms over beer drinking any time on Sunday, especially before church! This is the type of thing that Food Walk and Paul made fun to think about. Our tour wrapped up at a great place with oysters and some lovely mixology drinks. I think if you are open-minded and can roll with it, this may be something different that would expand your horizons. I say, Go!!!

Looking forward to returning for their outdoor concerts in the Fall. We did the tour where we also poured a bottle to take home. Flavor of the month is watermelon. Nice that you can also purchase bottles of their vodka as well as merchandise. Afterwards we went a few miles away to "Over Yonder" for delicious food before heading back to DFW.

I had reserved a tour for 3 (I highly recommend that you do the tour and if you choose to do a tour that you make reservations in advance as they sell out) and initially I did 2 with bottle fills and one tour. The tours come with a ticket for a drink so that was a nice little extra. As the tour started Ryan & Diego (our fabulous guides) gave us some history of how the company started and as well as the process of how the vodka is made. We got to mix our bottle (as we got the lemon) and fill our bottles. We also got to put the caps on the bottle and see how the line works. At the end of the tour, we also got to taste some vodka. After the tour we decided to go get our drinks and the staff inside were just as kind as the staff taking us on the tour. There are so many drink options that I wasn't sure what I wanted as they have so many flavored vodkas. I was told I could sample the vodkas which I was grateful for as it helped me make a decision. My cousin got the raspberry cobbler and the Bloody Mary - the raspberry was sweet but good and I don't like bloody Mary's but I'd drink this one! I got the blueberry lemon, the prickly pear and the front porch . . . All were good to me. When we were there they had some guys playing music inside which was a little loud but sitting on the porch, it was nice to hear. They also had a pizza food truck outside and my cousin said the pizza was really good. If I could make a suggestion to the establishment I would ask them to PLEASE sell flights! Please please please as there were so many drinks that I wanted to try but unless I was gonna sleep in the parking lot I knew I shouldn't but I guess it's also a reason to come back!

It is a great way to meet the locals, see the art and architecture of a city, get recommendations, and in general, get the "lay of the land." We are so glad we found Dallas Bicycle Tours! We had an absolutely glorious afternoon with Heather and Heath on their well-tuned and sized bikes, leisurely pedaling around downtown Dallas, stopping to see points of interest, appreciating the many gorgeous murals throughout the city, and discovering new parks and neighborhoods that we want to go back and explore more fully! Heather and Heath are lovely human beings, curious and engaging...though our ages and backgrounds differ greatly, they made it so comfortable and fun with their open and kind personalities. They focus on safety and on tailoring the ride to the desires of their customers and were open to switching things up to fit our interests. They adjusted quickly to our skill levels, and we are confident that they could meet the needs of any group. They supplied everything we needed, even ice-cold water. Additionally, their rates are reasonable enough that we could do any additional, more expansive tour with them if we were staying in town; we'd jump at the chance if we could! Give Dallas Bicycle Tours a try - You won't be sorry!
