My teen has had a great experience with Echelon Driving School. His instructor was on time, friendly and patient. Their pricing was reasonable and their office staff courteous. It's no wonder they've been in business 40 years! I found out that most driving schools are summer jobs for teachers, as well as owned by teachers. Sounds good, but once school starts in September, good luck getting a return phone call! So thankful we called Echelon!! read more

I had my daughter use them and she was not happy with the school. They came in an old beat up Dodge Neon and the instructor talked about trains and video games the entire time not really explaining how to drive. The worst was when it came for her scheduled drivers test they were suppose to be there at 10am and never showed. Turned out they had to cancel but never called. We had to reschedule the test a week later. Terrible driving school and would never recommend. read more

My son had an instructor by the name of Jim in 2017. We have no complaints. He says that Jim was very instructive and taught him in a very understandable manor. My son has had his license for a few years now and has had no issues. This to my mind is at least partially due to the instruction he received from Jim at Echelon. We are in fact going to use them again this year for my second born and if everything goes well again in another two years. read more

I got run off the road this morning in Cherry Hill by one of their cars. 20 over the speed limit, no turn signals, a complete disregard for thee safety of anyone else on the road. DO NOT Put your child in a car with these people. Please. read more

I'm truly shocked by these reviews. I did not have any trouble with Echelon. A neighbor recommended them to me. The instructor I had arrived on time and was very professional. I would highly recommend this school. Perhaps these other situations were with different instructors, but not with the gentleman that taught my son and my daughter (twins). I have already recommended them to other parents at Cherry Hill East and will continue to do so. I'm sorry these others had a negative experience, but I certainly did not. read more

I would highly recommend Echelon Driving School. My 16 year old son was never behind the wheel before and had a very good experience with Paul. He was driving on major roads the first time out and did rather well. Chuck, the owner, had matched the instructor up with my son's personality and he had a great time. DO NOT GO TO ECHELON DRIVING SCHOOL!! My 16 year old daughter was assigned Bob as her instructor to fulfill her 6 hour permit requirementt.. I payed him $200.00 when he arrived of which $10.00 went to DMV for the permit card. With the exception of driving around the block a few times with me she had know other driving experence. The first thing he says to her when she gets in is that the car is about to break down and that the owner of the school won't fix the car unless the transmission goes. ( I found out all this after ) or I would not have let her get in an unsafe car. Upon leaving the DMV Bob pulls out in front of a car in which he had to swerve over to avoid being hit and the other driver had to slam on her breaks. ( Oh it gets better) . So finally he lets her behind the wheel and tells her to go down any street she wants and to keep making turns while he's on his CELL PHONE!! He talk to three different people on his phone while my inexperienced daughter was behind the wheel. (hold on its not over yet). Meanwhile, she's driving aimlessly around and eventually goes down a street where an elementary school is. Cars are parked on both sides of the road so only one car at a time can go. She is relieved that no other cars are coming so she proceeds carefully until another car comes around the corner and trys to sqeeze by. She does'nt know what to do so she get over as much as she can but unfortunately the side mirror hits a parked van and rips it off. obviously BOB wasn't paying attention or you would think he would have told her to stop and let the car get by or he could have hit his breaks himself. Needless to say she was a mess. She tells BOB shes sorry and his responce was, "sorry dose'nt change it does it". And never utters another word to her again and drops her off at school. After learning all this I immediatly call the driving school to let them know what had happened and that we would not be continuing with them and that I wanted a full refund. They agreed. After almost two weeks of waiting I called to find out what was up .Apparently, they never even disscussed this matter with BOB about what happened and informed me that they are charging me $75.00 for taking her to the DMV and an additional charge for whatever driving time she had. I cannot begin to begin to tell you how angry I am. I am looking to pursue legal l matters with these idiots. My daughter is now afraid to drive and I owe that all to echelon driving school. read more

DO NOT USE ECHELON DRIVING SCHOOL! My mother-in-law purchased their services for my son in 12/2015. He completed his six hour course but they never took him to validate his permit. We didn't realize their error until I called to find out when his driver's test was. We called the school to find out what happened. We were told that they would take care of the problem and make sure his permit was backdated from the date he completed his 6 hours. Of course, they didn't do that. We had to take him to the DMV only to find out that it is impossible to backdate his permit. He now has to wait an additional five months to get his permit due to their error. We have left several messages for the owner, Charles Snyder, but he has yet to return our phone calls. The manager at the office says he is not capable of fixing the problem. We are being led to believe that he can't handle customer complaints when they, the office, have acknowledged their wrong doing. To make matters worse, his birth certificate and SS card had to be replaced because we never got them back from the instructor. What a frigging nightmare this experience has been. read more

I was quite concerned after reading the reviews posted here. i asked around and confirmed that this driving school and all were relatively the same; you also have to understand and appreciate the person who is doing this job. My daughter was taught by a driver named Joan and i have to say she was great. Polite, timely, called when an issue and had to cancel, treated my daughter with patience and was complimentary(even though I don't know if deserved). Everyone i spoke to who had her has commented the same. Is the place a little gruff?? Possibly, but no more then how a good experienced waitress might treat you at a diner! Might someone smoke who does this job, possibly but that is not a crime and your kid will be okay next to someone who smoked a cigaret and did their job honestly & politely knowing they were't making the greatest amount of money. read more

Well I have just read the bad review about your school and I would like to add some comment. I also took my son to Echelon driving which now was 7 years ago since he is 23 years old now. First for anyone reading this take the time out of your own busy day for your children and teach them the basics by going around the block 1 time or a million times until they are comfortable with driving. Then you turn them over to a Driving instructor to take them on the highways. Echelon Driving School did an excellent job and I would and have sent people to them. My son is an excellent driver due to his parents teaching him and the Echelon driving School. So Thank you. read more

This is the worst place for a first time student they are rude never on time there cars break down and if there not going to show up they don't even call you you have to wait for them to open and call them I could write a book about what I went thru the past 4 weeks read more

This was a great experience for my daughter. The lessons were easy to set up and the instructor was prompt. He really taught her the rules of the road and practiced them thoroughly with her. She was very confident driving after her lessons were done. read more

My 16 year old daughter took lessons from this place. Her Father signed her up for this course, as well as paid for the lessons. The instructor that showed up (came on a day he wasn't scheduled to come and claimed he "left a message with someone") was about 75 years old. Right away, my daughter was uncomfortable. We figured we'd give it a try. According to my daughter, this "instructor" made her drive all the way from Trenton to Belmar (on Interstate 95) and then proceeded to fall asleep while she was driving! This was her first lesson! I really wish she would have told me this right away instead of waiting until the 6 hrs were completed. My daughter is still quite nervous and is in NO WAY ready to take her road test next month. I have been working with her as well to help build her skills and confidence. I called the driving school to let them know how unhappy we were with their service and was told "They were sorry to hear that but I could sign her up for another class - at MY COST of $55 per hour" and "Just because we were not happy with the instructor doesn't qualify us for any free lessons". I really wish that my ex had researched this place prior to setting our daughter up for lessons. Very unhappy with the service and would NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more
