I had an absolutely amazing experience working with ECHO Salon for my recent wedding on 6/21. From start to finish they were communicative with fair pricing and stellar service. They were able to provide a hair and makeup trial a few months prior to the wedding to nail down the final look and they were able to recreate this again on the wedding day. On my wedding day they were able to travel to our hotel room to do hair and makeup for myself and my bridesmaids. They were able to create the exact look that I was going for in terms of both hair and makeup and all of my bridesmaids also gave feedback that their staff were a joy to work with and they were all very happy with their hair. read more

I came into town for work and my roots were totally grown out and I was looking a little rough...Sandra listened to me and gave me the perfect shade of blonde and even gave me the perfect trim as I was a bit timid on cutting it ! While on vacation in Bar Harbor I decided to treat myself to a mani/pedi. Echo Salon was right around the corner, and had good reviews so I called for an appointment. I was able to book day I called and was very pleased with my experience. The price at $65 for the mani/pedi combo was a great deal. My service provider gave my feet, ankles, and calves a bit of a massage and wrapped them up warm damp towels for a spa type of experience. A really lovely atmosphere overall and quality service. Two things though: 1, you can tip on a credit card which is insane and ends up cheating the staff in the long run, who cares cash? 2. I wasn't totally blown away by the polish selection. It wasn't horrible, just okay. But, if I find myself back in Bar Harbor in need of nail service I would definitely come back here. read more

As a part time resident of Bar Harbor and full time in the D.C. area, I am always concerned in having my curly hair cut outside of my regular DC locale.My concerns were put to rest when I walked out of Echo after the owner,Jefferson, gave me the best haircut I have received in years. Suffice to say Jefferson is a NY/ BocaRaton transplant who knows a thing or two about rising above the stiff urban competition in his profession. The bottom line, I am actually considering making a trip up to NY in several months when he travels to the city to service several customers. Although the place was beautiful and super convenient since I'm in town for a wedding, the fact that the woman behind the bar snubbed her nose at me for -- gasp! -- wanting acrylic nails, and went on to actually scrunch up her nose as she said, "You know, everybody's moving to more organic, natural-looking nails," was bad enough. But then when it only took me two seconds to Yelp a nearby nail salon in the next town over who didn't judge me for my nail choices (seriously?! Is this a thing?), which she could've easily done when I asked her if she knew of anyone else who did do the "A" word, just about sent me over the edge. If I would have had time to get them done in California this week, I would've. But I spent all day yesterday either flying, sitting in airports, or driving to and from them to be here for my best friend. I just wanted to be able to get them done before the rehearsal dinner tonight. And you just couldn't be bothered to even ask. It's called customer service for a reason. I don't expect you to provide all services, but you should be able to treat a potential -- and now, never -- customer with a little more decency than that. Shame on you, ECHO. I had an excellent Experience with Echo Salon and with the Owner Jefferson. This place is first class. The owner is from New york City. The place is a perfect blend of the talent and work ethic of a native NY'er with the peace and tranquility of what Maine is all about! I love the organic product lines. my hair never felt so good. for $32.00 i was given an exceptional blow-dry that lasted me 4 days. The ower even gave me(a stylist myself) tips I didn't know on how to preserve my blow-out even longer! they worked! I really enjoy getting pampered from time to time as one who pampers others 6 days a week and its very rare I get that WOW experience as i have tricky hair to do. i loved this place and will be back. my mother in law also experienced the salon and loved it just as much! I was on vacation and in need of a haircut. I took a chance as a walk-in. They took me right away. This place is immaculate! Alyssa took outstanding care of me. Before she stated she asked how short I wanted my hair cut, did I want the same length, layers to give it fullness (I found my hair came out very limp due to the soft water in Bar Harbor), trim the bangs, etc. She offered me a glass of ice cold spring water, gave me a scalp and shoulder rub (!)along with a shampoo, great cut and blowdry. When she was all done, she wanted to make sure I was happy with the length, style, etc. She offered to restyle it a bit since it was a little different than I was used to. Took almost 3 hours for a men's haircut which was not great at all. Ended up shaving whatever fade the lady attempted off. If your looking for something specific definitely don't go to this place! Very nice staff and very friendly just sad I didn't get what I expected from this haircut. read more

This is a review for an eyebrow wax not a hair cut. First I will saw that the salon was clean and seemed to have nice products, hence the once star but this was THE WORST EYEBROW WAX I have ever received and I've had plenty. The stylist waxed my brows to nothing, there are no sides, she erased the defined arch I had, and waxed the inside edge past my tear ducts. Now I'll have to buy a harsh eyebrow pencil to attempt to cover up this mess. I will certainly not be returning. The salon also charged my card twice for the same service. read more

I went to Echo for the first time today and am very pleased with the way my hair turned out. Sandy took her time throughout the process of applying a full head of foils, and took extra time in trimming my hair and adding layers, which I very much appreciated! She is very talented and knowledgeable about the products they use. I would have given a five star rating had I not been so shocked about the price! I realize they use high end products and the salon is also right in Bar Harbor, but WOW. The cost was far more than any salon I have ever been to. I checked the prices on their website after, and I do see they are transparent about their prices, so I guess it's my fault for not checking beforehand. But it was so expensive that I was unable to purchase styling products from them like I usually do after a hair appointment. That being said, if you don't mind paying an arm and a leg, I highly recommend Echo salon. read more

I just got the best haircut at Echo from Alyssa! She did highlights in two different shades to add volume and trimmed up my layers without losing any length (I told her I was growing it out). She finished up with an awesome blow dry - she stayed late on a Friday (I think) to take care of me and didn't rush at all. I just moved back to Bar Harbor after being gone for almost two years, and my previous stylist never got back to me about getting a cut. I'm so glad that she didn't because then I never would have had the chance to meet Jefferson. Completely disappointing experience. While the salon is cute and the staff was nice the quality of my updo for my friend's wedding was awful and not worth $85!!!!! The stylist did not listen to what I asked for even with pictures as a guide and felt like it was the stylist 's first time because I was in the chair for almost 3 hours!!!!! I did not want to say anything in front of my friend who was getting married- and was running late, so I had to eat the cost while hating my hair! I have been in many weddings and this was my worst updo experience -would never go back or recommend this place for special occasion hair. read more

What I got was more of a blow out - whatever it was definitely was NOT an up-do - and I was charged $95. I didn't realize the difference until I got home and checked my notes. Echo Salon is a fresh new addition to Bar Harbor. On this island everyone tends to typically know everyone and word gets around about anything new that hits the area. I was skeptical at first cause you never know about new businesses. Are they for the season and just a fad? I can honestly say this salon is one to stay for all times. The salon openly accepted walk-ins and did not shy me away at all. I walked into the salon and the atmosphere was just so refreshing. The decor of the salon is just so inviting and soothing that you just want to relish in it. There was a friendly greeting to welcome me into the salon. I was asked politely to take a seat, and might I say the chairs are just so quaint and adorable, while my stylist prepared her station. I was offered a beverage while I waited, I thought that was wonderful because not many places tend to you in that fashion any more. When my stylist was ready I was guided to her where we were introduced to each other. The service was phenomenal and there was so much interaction that the time just seemed to go by. I felt as if I were talking to an old friend rather than a new stylist. Unlike some salons that I have been to the owner was actually engaged and present in the process. Jefferson, the owner, is so personable and caring that he wanted to make sure I was getting the best service possible. All of the stylist in the salon are so professional without portraying that cold blankness that some stylist have now-a-days. I forgot to mention the salon is fully air conditioned, this was a great treat from the warm weather that has been occurring these altering weeks. read more
