Just like with most things in Gary - I really don't have that much to say! Lol Graduating from…read moreIndiana University with my Master's is what brought me here. I'd always passed the place hopping off of the skyway from Chicago but always thought it looked like a creepy, empty place that could be the scene for a scary movie. The place actually is bigger and nicer on the inside than I thought. Held our graduation well and there was more than enough room for friends and family. Parking was a bit of a hassle but with an event like graduation, what's to be expected? We got ushered out of there quickly when it ended. They didn't want the rift raft tearing down the last recognizable building in the city. *shrug*

It is one of two places in Gary to see a show (West Side HS would be #2). However, I've been to…read moremany shows here with positive experiences. All the big names/concert come here when visiting Gary. The city host their large events here, like MLK, Jr day. Overall the shows here are good quality for the city and the surrounding areas. However, I have also seen the Genesis Center used for major shows, such as the Ms. USA pageants that Trump brought to the city in the early 00's, which was top quality. So the Genesis Center can do really great shows, as the place has been kept up mainly due to the use of the Steelcats team. Yes, you are coming to Gary, IN for entertainment. However, it does not mean that you will miss out on receiving a top ranked experience due to the location. The Genesis Center is more than able to provide a quality show.

They do offer classes which I will take as well and we met one of the owners who was so gracious and he gave a friendly reminder that they do have lessons. We went on Sunday which was gospel skate day from 1pm-330 and it is free to the community. This is every Sunday! Donations are encouraged and if you need rentals it's $3. I think that is a tenfold blessing that they do that! This will be our go to after church. It was beautiful to see families skating of all ages! Loved seeing and feeling COMMUNITY:)

I had a terrible experience at this rink and won't be returning. The location was hard to find due…read moreto poor signage, and the parking lot entrance was through an alley, which I missed multiple times. From the moment we arrived, the staff was rude and unprofessional. The woman at the front had an aggressive attitude, and the pricing was misleading--non-skaters were charged the same as skaters, despite being advertised otherwise. Inside, seating was scarce, the rink had no railings, and the food line was long. My group struggled to find a table, and when we placed food on what appeared to be an available table, the owner aggressively told us to move it. Later on an incident occurred and I tried to get clarity, the owner basically told me to get out of his face, even though I approached him respectfully and waited for his conversation to be over, but he snaps on me-so I walked away and told my girls let's go then I let them and my friend know that I would never be back nor should our org. Even the security guard was shocked by his response. The overall lack of professionalism, poor service, and unsafe conditions made this an awful experience. I regret spending my money here and do not regret recommend this place to anyone. Zero Stars

They cater to children 3-9yrs old and really organize a learning experience for children related to the AA experience and noteworthy AA people throughout our country's history. The staff were soooo nice and gave us a tour even though they had an event going on at the time. There were so many visually interesting things here and my son loved more of the tactile elements. I cant wait until he is a little older so we can come back and really get the most out of this place. Not so humbly submitted, King Michael C.

Their website at the very bottom says that their "museum" is designed for 4- 9 year olds. What it doesn't mention is that if you bring a 2 year old, you will be turned away. I drove 30 min to come this run down building as I wanted to patronize more south side businesses. This was a mistake as the owners are rude and condescending. A 501c3 is not supposed to act as some weird club that can turn away kids because you assume 2 year olds don't have the capacity to do arts and crafts - which is so stupid. This place has been in the neighborhood for years and yet it is always empty and no I know has ever gone inside. This place could and should be more accessible instead of telling people to call around and go to another museum. They had the audacity to try and explain how children's museums work. Maybe take better notes. Oh and they told me to try the children's museum at navy pier - considering it's closer to me and you clearly don't want any customers - I will and so should other people.
