If there is anywhere to go for a tattoo I would suggest this place-especially if it's your first time as they are confident in what they do and they really know their stuff. All the guys in there look amazing and they have some awesome tattoos! This is also a great place for piercings with an extensive range of studs etc. The design books of designs are pretty amazing but if you have your own idea for a tattoo they'll be more than happy to help you out. read more

Of the many things I like doing, getting pierced is pretty much up there (when I can afford it of course). Having been pierced in 2 different establishments (hairdressers + gun = FAIL) prior to discovering this little gem I did what anyone would do and get a friend to guinea pig it out first :p Since said sacrifice, I've been to Eclipse for 5 of my piercings and 2 accounts of stretching and have to say that I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. The staff are chilled out, approachable and always willing to spend time with their customers and go over your options to help you get what you want. The studio itself is spacious, an extensive range of jewellery to look at for any type of piercing you could imagine and a whole load of tattoos to gawp at while you wait to be called in. Relaxed vibes, metal music, comfy sofas = win. Piercings are done in a room at the back of the shop. Everything very clean, sanitary and the piercer will talk you through the procedure step by step as she's doing it. She's a pretty cool chick as well might I add. Prices are pretty good. I got my scaffold/industrial done on Monday all for the bargin price of £30 which includes the piercing, 2 hoops and the scaffold bar they'll put in for me when it's healed. Having lost the bead to my captive-ball lip ring this morning somewhere to the blue abyss that is my wall-to-wall dark blue carpeting, I needed to find a suitable replacement. After settling on Eclipse, the self-professedly cleanest and friendliest tattoo/piercing parlour with the widest variety of body jewellery on Camden High Street, I got myself on a bus. While the location was, indeed, very clean, spacious and therefore inviting, the selection of body jewellery was not as vast as their website boasted, and after about five minutes of looking around at the tacky crap I didn't want (outrageously pink bejewelled belly button barbells anyone?) no one had said a word to me despite there being two men behind the counter, so I left. No service, no purchase. That's how I roll. As far as tattoo shops go, Eclipse was pretty nice, as it was large, open and well maintained. But, seriously, what's with the loud requisite metal music playing in the background? How cliché. read more

Came here for a tattoo guy at the desk was so friendly welcoming and helpful .Didn't have long to wait till I got called in the tattooist made me feel very comfortable. went through everything with me even though this was my 4th time being inked. Never again am I walking into this shop! NEVER! I came here a while ago and had my Rook-Piercing done which was pretty good even though I was a bit confused about little children running around in this piercing studio and I didn't get any disinfectant and was just told to use salt water... not used to this from my piercer in Switzerland. Nevertheless I came back to get an Ashley-Piercing. First I wasn't even greeted by the guy behind the counter and he kind of ignored me for the first 5 minutes. Finally he asked what I wanted and I showed him a picture and asked how often they do this kind of piercing. He told me that's one of the most common ones and they do it at least once a day! Only because of this I said yes and signed the paper. Now here was already one thing that was weird: he answered all the health questions himself (how does he know I am not pregnant, didn't drink alcohol before I got here or don't have diabetes?) Anyways I signed, payed and was called in a few minutes later. The piercer now used a pen to draw where the piercing should be and when I looked into the mirror I was shocked: It was not the one I wanted! I told her and she said she was told this is the piercing I said. (Hello I showed the picture, how can u go wrong?) Anyway after a huge discussion and being told I am not getting my money back I decided to get the right piercing done and so I did. After that I got the money back and was told that she wanted me to do the piercing here and nowhere else... weird right? Now I went back to Switzerland and saw a piercer here to get some disinfectant. And she told me that the bar was too short, it was a straight bar instead of a curved one and the piercing isn't straigt. Great right! Had the piercing removed immediately and I will never go back to Eclipse for sure! The piercer said she had 18 years experience, but seriously then you should use the right bar and you should be able to pierce straight! read more

I had a tattoo done here at a reasonable price, because it was only tiny I managed to wrangle the price. The staff were really friendly and supportive, holding my hand the whole way along. I also scrutinised their hygene skills and they are very good. I got an ear peircing here too, the whole procedure went well, literally walked in and out, was only about £8. What a great place this is in the London district of Camden. My girlfriend and I both decided to get a tattoo while in London to celebrate our great trip and to add to the many great memories while here. You walk down into the place, and it was surprisingly nice, modern, and a clean place. I immediately knew this would be a great and legitimate place to get our tats. Tons of artwork along the walls to look at from the various artists. Very friendly staff, despite their intimidating appearance, and ready to help with great customer service. These people know their stuff and they want to help you find and make the best decision. We chose the same artist, and he was very informative about the process as it was my girlfriends first tattoo and she was still quite nervous. The back rooms were clean and sterile, and all proper precautions were taken to ensure sterility with all equipment and tools used. I felt very comfortable in this place and look forward to returning for another one on our next trip to Camden. Tattoos turned out great by the way, and I was very impressed with his attention to detail, with very clean, sharp lines on the finished piece. I guess the only reason I did not give a five star is because I felt the price could have been just a tad lower, but in the end I don't regret paying that much for such a clean and professional environment, and even tipped him very nicely afterwards. read more

The guys at the desk are friendly however they won't ask or talk to you unless you talk to them first. My piercer if I'm not mistaken (Peter) was super friendly and nice. I got a dermal anchor piercing on my wrest he talked me through it and it was super fast. I also got my rook and anti-Tragus done at the same time. Got great care tips from him and it worked great for me. The first time I went I got a forward helix. Super fast and easy didn't hurt and the lady was nice. However she had a guy who was training close the piecing and that hurt a lot as he didn't know what he was doning and kept pulling at the piercings and my ear. read more

One of the worst tattooists I have ever encountered! I went to Camden town over the weekend with the intention of adding to the 3 tattoos I already have. I only wanted something small that would have taken no more than 30 minutes and I would have been on my way. I walked into three different parlours to scope the place and get a quote and decided that I liked the look of Eclipse and the front of house girls were very friendly and welcoming. I explained to them what I wanted and they spoke to the tattooist to get a quote. They told me that the ink would smudge if I got it in the size that I wanted, so I was happy to go a bit bigger but explained that I didn't want it too big, as I was getting it on my forearm and wanted it to be quite discreet. After about an hour (I was told I would be seen in 20mins!) I was called in and introduced to my tattooist (I think his name was Carlos - he had long curly hair and spoke with an accent). He had done a stencil which he transferred onto my arm. As soon as I saw it I said it was too big as it took up half of my forearm. He got defensive straight away and said well if you want that tattoo then I can only do it this size because the ink will smudge. I again said that I was happy to do the tattoo bigger that the picture I had given as a guide, but the size he wanted to do was too big. I suggested different options like shrinking the template, using a smaller needle maybe and he simply said "well i've already opened the needle that I'm going to use." Something that he had already done before my consultation by the way...I've never had a tattoo done where the needle wasn't opened in front of me! Anyway, he had such an attitude about that whole thing, huffing and puffing like I was making his life so difficult! He agreed to do a smaller template but when I asked whether the ink would smudge or the tattoo would come out the way I wanted it, like the picture, he said "I don't know!" I asked why it wasn't possible to do the tattoo in the original size because the picture I was using was of a tattoo, so surely it was possible to do it? He just ignore me. I had had enough by this point. I went to speak to the girls on reception to see if I could get my money back as they make you pay up front. To be honest this should have been a warning in itself as i normally pay for tattoos after being inked. They tried to suggest that they don't do refunds and mentioned that the needle had already been opened but I stood my ground and said I'm not getting a tattoo from someone who doesn't seem to be happy about doing it and quite frankly he was not filling me with confidence that I would have a tattoo I would be pleased with by the end of it! The girls eventually agreed to give me a full refund and I left with no tattoo. Not a great experience to be honest and if you ever decide to go there, I would suggest speaking directly to the tattoo artist before agreeing anything and certainly don't pay anything up front! read more

They were really helpful and managed to sort of re-pierce it and open it up again - they charged me £10, which was to buy the piece of jewellery they used to do this. I was incredibly grateful! Probably one of the most highly rated tattoo studios in London - with prices to match. To be honest the designs that I've seen in there as no better than anything produced at Flamin' 8 10 minutes walk up the road and nowhere near as pricey. When you walk in it's a long walk to the front desk so it can feel a bit intimidating going in there unless you are covered in head to foot in tatts (which I'm not). Staff are bit a too cool to help you which can be annoying as I really love it when there is someone to talk through your designs with and really help you define your ideas a bit more. read more

I went to Eclipse Tattoo when one of my friends wanted a tattoo on her arm, and I must say, I was very impressed by how professionally and skilled the work was carried out. Though located in a basement on the high street, Eclipse Tattoo is not too difficult to find as there is always a guy standing in front of the place holding a big sign or handing out flyers. As far as I am concerned, this is pretty much the best place to go and get tattoos or piercings, and it is not even one of the pricey places. read more

I was in London for the Christmas holidays and my friend decided to pay for a piercing as my Christmas present. After some Yelping I decided to come here - the place is really clean and the staff quite nice. I decided on a rook piercing, and after signing all the usual forms (legal stuff and aftercare) and paying (£26 for the piercing and a curved barbell, which is extremely reasonable) I went to a back room with their piercer Delilah. Delilah is a pretty amazing piercer; the piercing went on really smoothly without much fuss and she kept on chatting with me throughout the process. I have my lobes, septum, a helix and a scaffold piercing done and this is probably one of the more painless piercing experiences I've had. I wish I actually got to tell Delilah how great she was with the rook but I was feeling the post-piercing adrenaline rush and sort of just tottered out of the store. So if Eclipse staff happen to be reading this - thanks Delilah! I'm definitely visiting again if I happen to be in London some time in the future. read more

Personally I don't think you should get a tattoo at any studio that has to flyer it's business. The main pull of Eclipse is that it is near the station and therefore looking to drag in punters getting impulse tattoos or confused European tourists looking to mark their trip to London. Hence, though it may look fancy the place is overpriced and though the artists are OK the prices by no means match their skills. The lady on reception is a complete tool with no social skills and too many pet dogs running round and the same sentiment of being a rude plum applies to most of the staff. Had they seen how many tattoos I had up my arms I don't think they would have been quite so patronising. To conclude...complete charlatans. EDIT The owner very charmingly can't take a bad review and has decided to go as far as sending me a couple of snarky messages on here. More reason to avoid them, no? Great place! My mum randomly decided she wanted to get a tattoo, so we walked round a few parlours and asked if they did walk ins. Got in here about an hour before closing time, asked about a smallish tattoo, we had to wait for around 10 minutes, then the artist came to get us, had my mum done up in about 15 minutes, the tattoo came out very beautifully, the guy clearly knew what he was doing! Very clean and professional, way above the standard you'd expect from a walk in basement in Camden. read more

I went here yesterday to get a septum piercing, the man on reception was very rude and abrupt and more absorbed in his mobile phone than my questions. He was dismissive of my questions, and wasn't interested in my concerns or queries. He actually mocked me when I asked for a septum holder instead of what I now know should be called a septum retainer asking me if I was 'making it up', though the other piercing parlours I went to knew what I meant. Overall just very unfriendly staff, and to make matters worse, wanted to charge me ten pounds more than everywhere else I looked for a septum piercing! They quoted between 35 or 45 depending on the ring. I got it done at the next shop down (with friendly, helpful staff!) for just 25! read more

Got my septum pierced here recently. The piercer insisted on not using a clamp and when I expressed my concerns he assured me it would not be crooked, low and behold it was incredibly crooked. I expected more considering it is slightly more expensive than other places. A lot of the staff were very rude and the shop had a generally uninviting atmosphere. read more

The first time I called this place to ask some questions, the guy on the phone was really rude and unhelpful, and nearly put me right off. But I went there anyway cos my friend had recommended it to me. It's in a basement by another shop, so easy to miss, but just a few blocks from Camden Town underground station. The entrance is quite small, and usually a tight squeeze cos of the number of people milling around looking at the tattoo art or jewelry range behind the glass cases. The atmosphere is quite relaxed and laid back, but I still found some of the staff really offish and bad tempered. Not to put you off though, cos the actual piercing artists were very friendly and professional. I got my ear cartlidge pierced and was impressed by how quick and easy it was. Prices not too bad compared to the other studios in this area (of which there are many) and definitely the best in terms of professionality. read more

He was friendly, regularly told me how far through we were, and the quality of the final tattoo was brilliant. Well I've read a few reviews on google to find people don't like their attitude, find them rude etc, I can't speak for tattoos as I've not had any there but I had an industrial there recently and found them friendly, chilled out, knowledgable, informative, no hard cell. Cool really. The piercer was amazing. Magic hands, I barely felt a thing and my pain threshold is average. Not high, but ok ish. I couldn't believe it when he said It was done! It was very nice. Good placement. Short really but perfect for my anatomy. He even told me what bar I should get length wise once healed and offered yo change it free when it was settled in a few months. Good aftercare info was given, though I've got lots of piercing I do know, but at least they bothered. Atmosphere was fine. Don't know what everyone's complaining about. I'd certainly come back to this place for piercings. ( not tattoos but that's only because I have a regular guy I see for my ones) read more

Eclipse is extremely poor, first of all they are very expensive, (£100 for 6 small-medium sized words). But stupidly I thought that a high price meant that I would be paying for quality. I am left with a very bad tattoo as the tattooist clearly went too deep with the needle and the ink has dispersed under my skin, the tattoo now looks blotched, blurry and shadowy. During the tattoo, I was trying to point out that he was spelling something wrong and he became irritable telling me, he had not finished yet and I had to tell him he as spelling it wrong, although it should have been 'too' not 'tee' clearly lacking in basic spelling skills. Once the tattoo was completed he went over it again, (i'm no professional, but maybe this caused an overload in ink). The tattoo actually looked ok once it was finished, however began to disperse during the healing process and some of the letters have faded out. It's actually really embarrassing. The customer service is really poor, some of the guys are really rude and have horrible attitudes, one of them even suggested that I may not have looked after it properly during the healing process hence why it looked the way it did. They even stated that the tattoo artist (named 'Yan' I believe) had never did a bad tattoo and this was the 1st they had ever seen and didn't understand what had happened. They did however offer to fix the tattoo, but kept passing the buck, sending me on a wild goose chase to speak to the 'boss', I was then told that I would need to wait for the tattoo artist to return from his 4-6 week holiday, to correct his work and that they would need to pay other artists for their time. (I do not think that this is my problem, considering they are a business) I wasted a lot of time and petrol going down to the shop (as requested) to be told that the 'boss' would need to see it, on one occasion I called and asked if she was in, I was told yes, I arrived and was told that management are in, but the owner needs to see it, they sarcastically told me 'there is a difference between 'boss' and 'manger', after kicking up a bit of a fuss, a week or so later they finally booked me in for an appointment to have it 'fixed' by another artist, but I happened to be passing the day before, so asked the man at the reception if there was anyone available to do a tattoo, he was enthusiastic stating 'of course, you can be seen within 10 minutes' (Clearly only interested in money) I stated that I had an appointment for tomorrow morning and whether I could change it today, considering there were free slots. They looked in the diary and noticed it was a correction of a tattoo, the man stated the name of the guy that would be fixing it, the man pointed to a guy (miserable looking),sitting in the chair the guy stated he was busy and couldn't do it, the guy got up and asked to see the tattoo, I showed him and asked how he would fix it and he rudely responded that he was busy and didn't have the time to tell me how he could fix it and that I should wait until my appointment tomorrow (Although he had been sitting there doing nothing). Please note I have been to various tattoo artists, showed them the tattoo and they have stated that it's pretty impossible to fix it and that the words should have been much bigger and that I should either get laser treatment or get a cover over tattoo as you cant get rid of the ink that has bled under my skin and the writing is too packed together. I decided I wouldn't go to the appointment for the tattoo to be 'fixed' as they clearly don't know what they are doing and offer a really bad service. I have now decided to get a cover up. I really wish I had done my research as it would appear that I am not the only unhappy customer. I should go to a small claims court. Avoid at all costs!! After reading alot of reviews on this site i was very prepared when i walked to eclipse for my tattoo, I was getting a tattoo repaired by Richard so didnt know what to expect on any level. I must say however my experience was very different to most others on here, i was made to feel very welcome and my artist was incredible, professional and was the definition of "get on with the job" he worked on my tattoos for 7 hours 15 mins with only a 10 minute break and rather than finishing at 6 worked till nearly 7. all the staff were very complimentary of my work, walked to the shops to get me coffee during my tattoo and there is nothing i would change about my day there. I think to be honest if you go to the shope realistically knowing what you want and dont waste time you tend not to get a bad reaction, however there was no sign of the "fat guy" mentioned on the front counter. The ameican guy mentioned seemed very polite the whole time i was there and even throughout a difficult moment with a customer which sounded like it may turn into a dispute he was very calm and patient and the customer was happy. So from my experience yesterday i would say, if the stories are true that they have turned things around and i will definately be going back again.
