1-Star Review - My Place Hotel, Huntersville, NC…read more I chose My Place Hotel because I was in town for work and specifically booked a room with a kitchenette. The hotel's advertising says, "Bring your groceries and cook your favorite meal." Based on that statement, I purchased groceries for the week expecting to be able to prepare meals in my room. When I checked in, I discovered the kitchenette contained no cookware, dishes, utensils, silverware, cups, bowls, pots, pans, or cooking implements of any kind. There was literally nothing that would allow someone to cook or even eat a meal. I've stayed in many hotels with kitchenettes over the years, and I've never encountered one advertised this way that provided absolutely none of the basic items needed to use it. If the hotel expects guests to bring their own cookware and dishes, that should be clearly disclosed. In my opinion, the advertising creates a reasonable expectation that the room is equipped for meal preparation. I spoke with the front desk, and the employee was courteous and professional. Unfortunately, she explained that the hotel simply doesn't provide those items and had no solution. I then asked to speak with the manager, Meet Patel. I explained my concerns and even quoted the hotel's advertisement. Initially, he insisted the advertisement didn't say what I was describing. After I read it to him verbatim, the conversation became dismissive and unprofessional. I want to be fair and acknowledge my own part in what happened. I became frustrated and said things I shouldn't have. I sincerely regret that and take responsibility for my comments. However, I also felt the conversation escalated because of how dismissively I was being treated. When I told him I intended to contact Corporate Guest Services regarding both the advertising and how the situation was being handled, he essentially responded that there was nothing corporate would do. He then canceled my reservation and ordered me to leave the hotel immediately. During the conversation, I explained that my wife was staying with me because she suffered a second stroke that left her permanently disabled and requiring 24-hour care. We specifically needed an accessible room. Rather than showing any compassion or attempting to resolve the issue, I was told that our situation wasn't his problem and that we needed to leave. When I continued expressing my concerns, the manager hung up on me. A short time later, four police officers arrived and escorted us from the property. The officers were respectful and understanding, but they explained they were required to enforce the hotel's request. Being forced to pack up and find another hotel on short notice was incredibly stressful, especially for my disabled wife. The entire situation could have been avoided with a professional conversation and better customer service. My complaint was never about getting something for free. I simply wanted the hotel to acknowledge what I believe is misleading advertising and address the issue respectfully. I hope Corporate reviews both the advertising and the way this situation was handled. Guests deserve accurate expectations and respectful treatment, especially when legitimate concerns are raised. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had at a hotel, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend staying here.
