My room. Seems fairly clean. I'm glad there is no carpet. No coffee maker.

The room is bare bones. There are two vending machines out front, but neither one works. The lobby has an odor like old cigarette smoke on the furniture or carpet. The woman who checked me in was nice.

Great value for the price! We will come back and stay here again…read more I would love to give this place 5 stars but there were a couple of items that prevent that for me I would give it 4.5 stars though if Yelp would allow me to. Lots of positives: * Clean rooms (I could smell the clean in the sheets). * No strange smell in room. Many places have rooms with a mustiness smell, but not here. * The beds were clean and comfortable, but (Negative) squeaked whenever you moved. * Quiet. Even though it is pet friendly (which we like) , and low cost, we didn't hear a thing; * Fan/heater worked great. We like to have a fan run constantly to help drown out any potential outside nose, and most places don't allow the fan to actually run at a constant speed, or without big noises going on and off when the heating or cooling engages. Here was no problem. It ran constantly. It held the room temperature perfectly. * Low Cost. They advertised $92 for the night and we were able to save another 20% by booking thru Expedia. Unfortunately when we called the hotel directly first to see if they'd beat or at least match the Expedia price (to book directly thru them), they were not able to, so we had to do it thru Expedia, which worked just fine. * Very friendly staff. * Great location, just off of I-35. BUT you do need to drive thru the rear of a large truck stop to get there (it's worth it). Office was on the far side. * Big Parking spaces, and you could pull up right next to your room. * Pet Friendly, and they don't charge extra for it. We like both points as we often travel with our small dogs. And the rooms did not smell. * Warm Breakfast. Freshly made pancakes. Scrambled eggs, sausages, biscuits and gravy, boiled eggs, plus the other regular stuff. Negatives: * Squeaky beds. The beds were clean and comfortable! But the springs squeaked ANY time you moved. The mattress is on top of a metal base spring which unfortunately squeaks easily. * The metal base bed frame has metal legs at the corner edges and at the middle edges, so I stubbed my toes on them couple of times. Conventional frames have their legs recessed so this doesn't happen. * The blanket was very thin. They had a sheet, thin blanket, and then another thin blanket on top of that (I'm sure for easier and sanitary cleaning). But it was very light. It could have used a thicker blanket or comforter. And the blanket portion was a bit short sheeted. * Strange way to get there. You had to drive through another businesses parking lot to get there. This is not a big deal, but I wasn't expecting it. * Although the room was clean, the bathroom could have used an extra bit of attention. Hard water stains on sink, toilet could have been a bit better cleaned, and the top wall (between 6 and 8 feet had spots on them). Still clean over all, but when you looked a bit closer, you saw missed stuff. * Coffee is from instant coffee machine dispenser. Not the best strength or tasting coffee but it is free. We will gladly come here again! Great value for the price. I think we will just ask for an extra blanket when we check in next time.

Adequate for an inexpensive overnight stay…read more Updating this review after coming here for a third time. Now there is a story behind "The Rag." Maybe I was a bit harsh at first. (First two visits included a mystery rag on the sink with "The Rag" written in black marker, but now there's a sign with its backstory) Apparently it's a Midwestern tradition for some hotels to designate old rags for reuse, instead of trashing them when there's some utility left. With that said... Every time I've stayed here, it's been a good deal. The rooms come with a fridge and microwave, the rooms have been recently renovated and the beds are fine. However, there's been a problem with bugs and/or flies each time. I understand it's summer, but these rooms seem to attract them. Also, the was no hot water with my most recent stay, as it was only marginally warm. 3-stars for being cheap and the fact that the staff are friendly...

The area is very quiet. They have free coffee. This is my second stay here and everything (hot water, air conditioner, tv, mini fridge) worked fine both times. The mattresses are very firm, which I prefer. Did I mention that it's inexpensive? Had to mark them down after my second night. The pillows were rock hard. I asked if I could switch them out and got little response from the front desk staff. Eventually, I asked the cleaning staff for a switch (seriously, the pillows were awful) and she was really helpful. Also, the office closes at some point at night and doesn't open again until seven.
