I've been down this street in the summer and the scenic views of the St Lawrence are quite majestic. A really different feel in winter as there is quite a bit of ice on the shoreline with some larger boats passing by! Onto the food! For my meal I had the spaghetti with nordic shrimp on the table d'hôte menu! This came with a nice soup that was a puree'd veg soup which was quite nice! The spaghetti with shrimp was really nice! It had a nice creamy sauce that had a mild shrimp flavour which was so nice! it came with a dessert (carrot cake) and coffee! This place has a lazy bistro feel. We ate in the bar but there is a very nice dining room as well! I can imagine how hopping it must be in the summer!

I've always thought it was overpriced for what they serve, and never quite "it". Their salmon tartare is ok, but not great (and had way too much lime juice in it) the last time. They have good ideas for pizzas, but the ingredients don't quite do it for me... Its catering for an "in between" crowd; between the fast food places and the upper end restaurants that require reservation and charge through the roof. By the way, change your music track please... its not a "disco" bar... the incessant "tsk tsk" of the track is making me crazy!!!!

We decided to drop in for a tour here on our second visit to Quebec City, mostly just to try…read moresomething new. The tour was about an hour long and our tour guide's English was great. Plenty of jokes and interesting descriptions about the history of the place. This building was originally a jail when it was built, intended to reflect the ideology of a British man who was set on reforming prisons. Like many countries when faced with an influx of immigration, the population housed in the jail were disproportionately made up of immigrants being punished for minor offenses. It was later converted to an English-language college that didn't last very long. The building finally wound up becoming an English-language library that now serves as the English-language cultural center of Quebec City. The library is filled with artifacts as well. And that old library smell is heavenly! The tour was a little boring, but not terribly, which is the only reason I give it 4 stars. I would have liked some more photographs from that time to be displayed throughout (even though I know they're probably incredibly rare). I did find myself checking my watch, but probably because we came in starving. If you're a history buff, library nerd, or jail hobbyist (lol), definitely try to check this place out.

The staff were warm and friendly, which made the experience even better. We also loved exploring the souvenir shop with so many unique local items. The maple syrup on ice was a highlight, fun to watch and so tasty to eat. There was live traditional music as well, which added a special atmosphere. A great place to experience authentic Québec sugar shack culture!

They ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your booked time and this is so you have the tour and history of maple farming. It was worth it as we learned a lot. The dinner is in a building next door, large long tables and you dine family style and as much as you want. We enjoyed this as we met other people, both local and from another country. There was also this night a large school group. They were well behaved and we enjoyed watching them when the entertainer who was playing music got them all up for a line dance. The food was delicious and when you add maple syrup to anything it did taste wonderful. We loved it and it was an experience we are happy to have done.

Aren't we all members of the human race? Yes, and at this port they treated me that way. The place is clean, fast and professional. These rooms are large spacious rooms with a Queen bed, jacuzzi tub, sunken living room with fireplace, and private balcony overlooking the St. Lawrence river. The other building is the main lodge. We had a beautifully decorated corner room in the main lodge, which was spacious, had 2 walls of windows, and access to a shared balcony. Each room in the main building however is different. The hotel sits high on a hill with spectacular views. There is a fenced in pool at an upper level. We had breakfast included, which was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had. Buffet table with danishes, croissants, fresh fruit, etc. You can, in addition, order one of about 12 egg or crepe dishes off a menu. Food is not only tasty, but is presented beautifully and creatively on the plate. Dining room has 2 parts- one is more casual, and one is more formal. There is also an outside patio with (an electric) fire going in a fire pit, and an outside covered area with wicker furniture with cushions where you can gather for a drink. We used this area, while waiting for preparation of our desserts. Dinner is fantastic. 5 course meal (table-d'hote). We liked it so much that we chose to eat here a second time during our 3 night stay. Would recommend this restaurant even if you are staying at a different hotel in the area. Hotel is run by a family, and service is friendly and warm. Very helpful in giving advice regarding and booking activities. For those who visit the area, we recomment the following: 1.Baie St. Paul- artist colony with lots of galleries, restaurants 2.Iisle aux Courdres- take free ferry across. Rent bicycles- tour the island in about 2 hours. 3. Hautes-Gorges Provincial Park- hiking, biking, kayaking and canoeing on the Malbaie river, boat tour 4. Whale watching (amazing- saw lot of whales!) 5. Magnificent golf course overlooking the river
