I desperately needed a place to stay for my small family of four so I figured this cheap option wouldn't let me down. Unfortunately I was very wrong. Some reviews say that this place is family oriented and its far from it. I used to work for a hotel, and we wouldn't place two families right next to each other. This place did that. My poor baby was teething and nothing I could do to help. I gave her some Tylenol and still nothing worked. I tried talking to the front desk about switching rooms and they refused. So um honestly its their fault. The breakfast was gross. Nasty flies in the food and juice. The hotel bathroom was disgusting. At one point it even had used needles. read more

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. They were doing renovations and there was construction dust and debris everywhere. The stand on the TV was broken, the remote had no batteries, the deadbolt couldn't be used because the bolt didn't match up with the receptacle. None of the appliances and some of the lamps weren't plugged in and so we plugged them in and they still didn't work. The towels were old and had a weird smell to them. The blanket on one of the beds was stained and the noise from the kids running up and down the hallway went on for most of the night. The security doors in the parking lots that should require a card key to enter were wide open, anybody could have walked right in. The desk staff just looked at me with a blank stare when I tried to tell them about all of this. We would have left immediately but had paid in advance so we were stuck in this place for two nights. I'd give it a zero rating if that were an option here. No way would I ever consider coming back or booking in this hotel ever again and would suggest anyone considering to check other available options. read more

I would give this nasty place NO stars, we had roaches crawling on the wall, burn holes in the blanket plus rips all over it, room smelled moldy, the toilet was broke, the breakfast consist of waffles and soured milk and the juice was so watered down you couldn't drink it, please don't stay at this hotel, the pool is so small that only about maybe 3 people can swim in it, again.... Please choose another hotel, also we have made a trip to urgent care because we had bug bites from this hotel, this hotel was dirty and old and all of this and they still refuse to refund my money!!!! read more

The first time we stayed here, the room they issued us was already occupied. When we brought it to the attention of the owner, she argued that it was not in fact occupied, but she immediately reassigned our room anyway. The breakfast the next morning was clearly leftovers from previous mornings and they watch you like a hawk to make sure you don't take any food to your room. I managed some juice and yogurt and a banana then I went to Mc Donalds and got a real breakfast. The breakfast hours are strange too. I think it was 5:30 to 8am. The second time we booked was about a month later and we weren't able to stay there because my boyfriend wound up in the hospital. We booked the room for the same day, and way after 3pm check in. The cancelation policy states that you have to cancel 24 hours prior to check in. We did call to cancel but since the reservation had been made about 9pm and he was checked into the hospital at about 11pm in a town two hours away, giving a 24 hour notice would have not been possible. After he was released, we noted that we had been charged over 100 bucks for the night we had reserved but did not use. The online price for their room is about 62 bucks a night. Not only were we charged for a night we did not stay due to a medical emergency but we were charged 40 bucks more than the room was priced. We called and spoke to the owner, a lady. She said all we had to do was fax in the medical paperwork and she would refund our money. We faxed in the paperwork. She did not refund the money. We called Choice Rewards. They tried to reason with her. She dug in her heels and refused to refund. So, if you stay here, make sure you don't reserve a room ahead of time unless you are darn sure you can make it and sleep in because the breakfast is not worth getting up early for, but don't sleep in too late because they won't honor late check out no matter your standing with Choice rewards, and check your bank records and make sure you aren't over charged. And if you do have an issue, you might just want to pray about it because there is no reasoning with the owners. They don't bend the policies for common folk like us. That is all. WARNING: do not attempt to stay here. This place was so wrong, so filthy and unkept. We bailed. As my wife went to turn in our keys as I packed the car, another person was ranting and quite upset at the front desk that someone had stolen his XBox from his room. We didn't even get the chance to scan the bedding for the bedbugs (that I just now see reported by other Yelpers!). Hairs in the bathroom, dead bugs and what I believe to be old urine stains on the floor, holes burned in the comforter, rusty lights... YIKES! Was in town for convention, this place was suggested as offering a reduced rate for the convention. First they said yes, there was a reduced rate. Then they tried to bill us the regular rate. In the end, even though we bailed they still charged us for one night even though I wouldn't sleep there in a biohazard suit. Can't wait to see what credit card shenanigans we'll have to deal with later. Ended up going across the street to the Station Comfort Inn. Like day and night difference. Booked online and requested a roll away bed. When we arrived they wanted to charge extra for it after we already reserved it and was never told it was extra. The swapped us to a double bed room and the rates were higher due to a event in town and refused to charge us our rate we had previously booked. When we got to our room there was a roll away bed in it along with the 2 beds. A worker there told me they would refund the additional charge for the roll away bed since wa were not using it and when we went to the front desk to do so the lady refused to refund it. She said the new rate is higher now amd thats what we have to pay. read more

This was the nastiest hotel I have ever seen. The rooms were gross, the coffee pot was growing mold. There was cigarette burn holes in the blanket, water spots all over the ceilings, floors hadn't been swept. The front desk was very unprofessional, unwilling to do anything to rectify any of the issues wouldn't even give a different room. Asked for a refund of points and cash and refused. So I called corporate and the front desk was unwilling to talk to his corporate people to take care of issues. So in the end we just had to leave the hotel and was told to try calling again tomorrow to get the issues resolved. Don't book this hotel you will be very disappointed! read more

I grew up in Sedalia and remember this hotel to be amazing in its day. I wish I could say the same about my stay here. We found trash around our beds, old food around the walls, even a pill at the edge of the bed. I have a severe mold allergy and our room was covered in mold. Rust on every piece of metal, Microwave smelled like a dirty diaper and was dirty, towels that had mildew and rust stains were left for us as our guest towels, ripped blankets, just to name a few things. There was so much chlorine in the pool that my kids had chlorine acid burns on their skin after only a few minutes and my oldest accidentally ingested some of the pool water and started throwing up blood from the high chlorine content. The hot tub water was a yellow green and had a dirty sock in the filter. It was all too much for us. Then to top it off, I woke up with huge bites all over my face and neck on our final morning there. A week later, they are still there and infected. read more

0 STARS I can't say anything good about this place, but I believe you pay for what you get. We were traveling on the Katy and our last stop was Sedalia. We chose the hotel closest to the places we planned on visiting that day, which was this one. *Parts of the building had fire damage because they allow smoking on one side of the building. *We were in a non smoking area and we still smelled smoke seeping through the walls. *When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was several stains (honestly, they looked like sex stains) and multiple cigarette burns on the decorative bedding. WHY WOULD YOU REUSE THAT!? Trash it. Have some respect for your establishment and image. *The bedding smelled like sweat and it was all stained with lord knows what. *The bathroom was disgusting. The racks that held the towels were rusted, the tub was black and stained. There were red spots by the drain, who knows what that was. There were ants climbing on the toilet. *They had shampoo that included conditioner, but not separate bottles. Who does that anymore? I'm assuming they have new ownership as this hotel was not nearly as bad 5 years ago. You can tell the owners are cheap asses and don't care about their image as owners. read more

DO NOT STAY IN TRUMAN HOTEL!!! They have an infestation of bed bugs!! The hotel is very dirty and they have horrible reviews and a lot of reviews complaining about bed bugs and roaches. Also we had dirty sheets upon arrival and they replaced them with old stained sheets and wouldn't give me any clean pillowcases. Management was extremly rude, and said that they didn't have a bug problem. She also refused to look at the video and pictures I took of the live bugs. We were rushed out of the room and told to immediately check out so they could Rent the room because they had someone coming in!!! It was a nightmare and don't want anyone to experience what we did at 5am this morning. It was NOT a few bed bugs... It was a few hundred and a couple dozen nest. The manager wouldn't even come up to the room to see how bad it was. She refused to look at all the pictures and video we had as proof. This hotel is disgusting and the management doesn't care about it. She told me to hurry and check out because she already rented our room out. PLEASE DO NOT CHANCE IT. read more

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I should have checked the reviews before I even attempted to stay here. Made the reservation through priceline which made it even more of an issue. I flew into KC and got in around 9pm and had to make the 1hr and 40min drive to Sedalia. Took a little while to get to get the rental and I finally made it to Sedalia around 1150pm. I was tired and just ready to sleep. I walk in and smell smoke, and knew this was going to be an issue. I wanted to give it a a chance so I checked in and headed to my room. The room was blistering hot as the AC was turned off. There were bugs on the window pane and it smelled like smoke. So I leave 15 min and tell the staff member my concerns and I told him to cancel. He did it and told me I should be refunded. Wrong, never got a refund. Called and spoke with a different staff member and was told I cannot get a refund and was shocked! I did not stay there and went over to the Hampton Inn instead. The staff member shows me the receipt and it shows I checked out at 732am!! Lies again! Tried to get a hold of the manager multiple times. Called Priceline and they tell me it is at the discretion of the the hotel to refund me. Called Priceline one more time they finally get a hold of the manager and they deny me a refund for both days! So I call the manager upset and she yells at me saying I was offered another room, which was a lie and I tell her why would I stay there with the condition of the room? Her and I go back ans forth and she hangs up. I call again, staff tells me she left and that I need to stop calling, so I tell them I was going to complain they said go ahead! No customer service and now im out money! People who posted about the rooms are spot on! It is not clean and it smells like smoke! Avoid this place as they will lie to your face! read more

I walked into this place and it was like "Scarface meets The Shining." Could not believe the staircase and carpeting in the lobby. Maybe once it was a nice place, (30 years ago?) but now just a tired old hotel repurposed for the bargain conscious. The friendliness of the staff, $60 room, and relative cleanliness, for me, saved it from a 2 star rating, not to mention the hilarious staircase, and decor. Tony Montana must have cousins in the Air Force, because 80% of the artwork on the walls was simply framed USAF posters of rockets and fighter planes. Talk about surreal. I got the added bonus of some type of what smelled like a kitchen fire filling the hallways with acrid smoke that stung my lungs and made walking from my room to the lobby difficult, plus a nice 2am wake up call that sounded like some amphetamine-juiced (hooker?) screaming profanities at some guy named "Wayne" right outside my room for about 10 minutes straight. Apparently it's because of him that she "isn't clean and looks the way she does." Good to know. read more

The staff is friendly, but the overall condition of the hotel is GROSS! The lobby is old and dated, the breakfast area had dried-on food on the serving surfaces, and our toilet had mold in it. The towels in our room were stained and some were even damp...one had a black hair in it(and we are all blondes). The sheets were terribly wrinkled, as though perhaps they had not been changed between guests. There are many other options in Sedalia-choose a different hotel! read more

Bottom of the barrel. The room was gross and I walked on the carpet barefooted......discussing! The shower curtain had mold all over it. We has a kingsize bed hard as a rock....when leaving I noticed it was a pillow top mattress they had flipped the pillow top down! My daughter wanted an extra blanket....it took an hour to get it. The. Breakfast was almost unfit for dogs. Our air conditioner would not regulated..it would get so cold even on the warmest cold setting. If the air was off it got hot and stinky. Meh...in the land of enclosed pools, (seriously, there only 2 outdoor pools...Liberty Park public pool and up at the old Ramada) you can do better. Maybe once a nice place, now just tired. But, our real issue was the door....it was an ordeal to open as the keycard sporadically works and takes a good 5 min to open (even after getting new keys multiple times....) The tv did not work--just static. Tiny pool. Best Western is in the same price range and a lot nicer. Oh breakfast on weekends is done fairly early, well before 9.30-am. BE CAREFUL when taking a shower, whatever they clean with, makes it very slick when floor is wet!!! Does have a great little work out room. Wifi is a little slow front desk people very nice. The front desk workers (possible owners?) were some of the rudest people I have ever experienced. I am 9 months pregnant and felt absolutely terrible during our stay. My husband and I had just PCS'd to Whiteman AFB here and TLF didn't have any availability for us so we chose to stay here in the meantime while waiting. One of the workers confronted my husband in the hallway that we had the "do not disturb" sign on our door and they hadn't been able to clean since we got there. I was SO sick and did not want to smell chemicals or be bothered and since we're paying guests I thought having the sign up was our decision? Apparently not here. The breakfast was SICKENING. They had warm milk sitting out in an open pitcher. The room smelled like puke from the moment we walked into it and the sheets had stains all over them. I used a blanket we bought to cover up with. I highly recommend staying absolutely anywhere but here. We checked out early and slept on an air mattress and it was much more peaceful than this joke of a place. Rude. Nasty. I was in Sedalia for a 2 day conference. I've stayed at EconoLodge before so I knew what to expect... or so I thought. The room was clean and did have internet access, though it was somewhat slow. This is a large, sprawling motel and I was sent to the far back 40 for my room. There was an ice machine in the general area but no vending machines. There may have been some up front but walking across the street to the local WalMart would probably be closer And make sure you have good springs on your car, they have huge speed bumps in their parking lot, about every 40 feet. The front desk worker greeted me in a mater-of-fact manner that could neither be termed friendly or distant. After a decent night's sleep (the walls are somewhat thin) I drove around to the front of the motel for the included hot breakfast. The parking lot strewn with empty beer bottles should have been a tip-off, but I went into the "Breakfast Room" only to discover their interpretation of a "hot breadfast" consisted of cream gravy, sans meat, and biscuits...oh, and the gravy bowl was empty. Or you could make some toast. I saw no pastries or any of the other items I've come to expect when staying at a facility in the Choice Hotels chain. In summary; the rooms are decent and no vermin shared the room with me. But if you expect more than just a room you will be disappointed. read more

No stars, POOR customer service! Front desk staff lie, and seem AFRAID to call the manager, trying to handle issues on their own. They all cover for each other, East Indian family owned and operated (last night's clerk was the nephew he inadvertently admitted, sweet kid). Bob and Priti Bhakta, you truly need to make sure that WINNIE understands that it is unacceptable to ever SCREAM, or even yell at a customer, just because Winnie is frustrated. She (front desk staff) IS the first impression of your hotel! My sick little girls, and my exhausted husband and myself, with our newly blown headlight, did not need to drive an extra hour to explain this. Winnie, you are a coward! Not only did you take off, but switched shifts with another young lady this morning, to avoid speaking to me face to face! I hope you get written up or made to work in the back for the way you treated me last night over the phone. You have NO BUSINESS in customer service, being the face of the Truman Hotel, with the way you almost immediately lost your patience with me. I never yelled at you, and I was frustrated too! I could hardly understand you with your thick accent!  My issue is also with Choice Privileges, but this could have been handled at the hotel customer service level, had you known how to handle a basic customer service dissatisfaction, at 9pm. By the way, Priti (your boss, the manager on duty) told me, you never tried to call her, you liar. I knew that, and that's why when I "accused" you, you got irate with me. Shame on you! read more

The experience started with RUDE front desk attention, followed up by filthy room that looks like they got the furniture from a goodwill store and bugs on the floor. Then cigarette burns and stains on the comforter in a nonsmoking room. The breakfast was sooooo bad we ate at McDonalds and it was better. This place smells, and it is so dated it is SAD. I tried to get another hotel offering to pay 3 times their going rate and not a free room in town during state fair. This place is disgusting and that's all I can say. I read the reviews and thought- 'eh, I'm not fussy'... But, seriously- no. I stayed at this hotel because they are pet 'friendly' ($35/night pet fee!) and have a pool. The place looks impressive when you walk in.. Ok, I'll try and be nice, but this may be the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. I think the staff are doing the best they can but..... dirt everywhere, greasy alarm clock, empty beer cans under the bed and ........ blood on the sheets (maybe leaking up from the mattress pad). Room smelled of chlorine because it was across the hall from the pool. Free breakfast dining room floor was extremely sticky, truly disgusting. Key cards had to be programmed multiple times and there is a hole in the door where the real lock used to be. Can't believe this used to be a Ramada Inn. read more

I have stayed at countless hotels across the country ranging in various price ranges, but have NEVER had an experience like this. Before arriving, the front desk staff was very unfriendly and uninterested in helping over the phone. After arriving we realized breakfast was extremely unsatisfactory, the bed spread had burn holes in it, the room was not particularly clean. All those things I would have shrugged off however, after the first night I started seeing bug bites on my arms, did not think much of it. After the second and third night and having as many as 30 red bug bites. At this point I did some research on bed bug bites. Unfortunately, the pictures matched my bites exactly. Since leaving the hotel I have had to wash, sanitize and dry clean all of my personal items before bringing them into my house. On top of that, I have since looked at my credit card charges and I was not charged the original booked price. I had 3 different transactions on my credit card totaling $40 over the original nightly rate (plus tax.) I travel to Sedalia, MO each year for this event and know many others who stay at this hotel. I will not be returning and I will be sharing my experience with the event coordinators. read more

This place has not been updated since the 70's, including the bathrooms . The toilet seats are cracked, the floors are dingy & peeling, the tub has rust stains (I was scared to look under the bath mat). The linoleum on the counter top was pealing, the carpet was gross & thin, towels are thin and stained, bedding was stained, mattress was gross, AC did not work at all...walked in the room was 90...finally cooled off to 80 by morning (sarcasm). There were cigarettes scattered throughout the room from the previous occupant, no washrags or hand towels were in the room. The staff was friendly and helpful, but because of language differences extremely hard to understand. The breakfast is gross, skip it & go to McDonalds, Also Items that you leave in the room come up missing & when confronted the staff in the front says "we don't steal". OK so it was there when I left the room & when I came back it was gone...was it magic? Do not stay here, ever. read more
