We enjoyed our stay and our room a lot, but do understand that 5-stars for this wouldn't be the same 5 stars you might give a more modern hotel. This hotel has been around a long time, as in I have pictures of myself as a toddler that were taken there and I'm old-ish. Mom really wanted to stay there and some of the more modern hotels were way more than I wanted to pay or booked up, so she got her wish. Honestly, I was worried, but it was only one night. I reserved online and check in was fast despite the stand up routine from one of the other staff that had to kind of keep butting in, but he was just being friendly I guess. We chose a pet friendly room although not bringing a pet because the other choice was a poolside room and I didn't want to be hearing screaming children all night. Our room was on the back side of the hotel, right next to the door where you go in to the pool and the breakfast buffet, so that was really convenient. I know drive up - motels - are not popular these days, but to us, it was really nice to park right at our door and not have to hike with our bags down a long corridor. It was reasonably quiet. There was one little yippy dog that ended up was staying in the pool side room behind us, but it wasn't all that bad. Sometimes when you stay at a place you wake up early when everyone starts taking showers because of loud pipes, but not here. It was nice and quiet. Breakfast was a nice set up. Everything you need to get by. We felt the room was much more up-to-date than the pictures on the website show, so that was a nice surprise. If I changed anything, it would be the mattress. I still wish I'd checked if it was actually a mattress because it was so hard, I wonder if it was two box springs stacked together instead. read more

Crappy experience rented 2 rooms neither toilet worked and the rooms are small my refrigerator in my room didn't work at all!! My husband fixed the toilets by sticking his hand in the back of the toilet!! Breakfast was good and the server was great she was friendly and helpful! The worst Best Western hotel I've ever stayed at! I'm actually surprised the company would want to keep their name on this property. The 1 star I gave is for the lobby. The furniture looks nice but that's about it. The room was dark and musty. The bed cover had a gross stain on it. The towels were old and with holes. You don't need to look at other places to stay in Sedalia. You want to stay at the Best Western. We had a great hot breakfast (included) and coffee was available 24/7. The room was very clean. The inside is nice, with communal places to sit and a swimming pool. We felt safe. John and Joyce at the front desk were wonderful. The Best! read more

There was an older and younger girl working during our weekend stay. They were both extremely rude and when asked for towels for the pool since there were over 30 kid's in the pool we were told that they were understaffed so they couldn't provide us with more towels. Even after telling them the ones from our room were taken by another kid at the pool. Kept just getting told "short staffed" and eyerolling from the young blonde girl at front desk. Not to mention hot tub was cold, hot water in shower was cold, "hot" breakfast was cold. And the hotel is very outdated for the price being charged! read more

I made a reservation online for a king bedroom, a week in advance. I called and let them know due to an event on 4/10 we would be checking in late and asked if it would be a problem for me getting the room I reserved. I was told it would not, that they don't sell their rooms. Fast forward to check-in, and we are told the room we reserved is not available and they put us in a room with a double bed. It was tidy. We decided to try and make due after a long day. the bed was not comfortable and the pillows were flat. And then, the rooms beside us and above us were extremely loud, like, hear every word they were saying loud. We left and went to a different hotel downtown. In retrospect we should have checked out at that point and let them know why. But the loudness of adjoining rooms really was the final straw in the annoyance haystack. We would be staying at any Best Western anytime soon. read more

I am really surprised by some of the bad reviews, but then again, some of them are 6 years old. Whatever *was* the case in the past, it's clear management has gotten its act together. The room was clean and comfortable, the bed exceptionally so, and the morning breakfast buffet was hearty and even had wait staff standing by to assist you. Is it the most beautiful and professional hotel you will ever visit? No. But definitely one of the best based out of a medium sized town in Missouri. Reliable and recommended. read more

My wife and I stayed at the motel Oct 18, 2013 while attending a wedding anniversary party in Sedalia. I had forgot there were still a few states that permit smoking but most motels know that the majority of their guests are non-smoking and when making a reservation they generally ask your preference. Unfortunately that never happened here and as I said I forgot the state has no anti-smoking laws, so I guess "my bad". The room smelled so strongly of smoke that even most smokers would feel violated. The room should be condemned and if this hotel cared anything about their guests they would never place a non-smoking person in these rooms without asking beforehand their smoking preference. I contacted the desk immediately and requested a room change and they rather curtly said it was not possible, the motel was sold out. I know it was sold out but not everyone had checked in and it would have been possible to still make some accommodation, however their response was essentially "tough". Many of the rooms here have entrances from the outdoors, so besides my wife we also had the insects and blowing leaves in the room, never take a room here on the ground floor outside! We stayed the night but in the morning we called the Comfort Inn to see if they had a room for the next two nights .... right after saying yes the desk clerk asked our preference, smoking or non-smoking. How nice and courtesy, asking the guest their preference. Our experience here was 100% better than the Best Western Our second unfortunate experience with this Best Western was a day later when we attended a anniversary party breakfast . What appalling food and service. We arrived at 9:30 and they had a "breakfast buffet" that I'd estimate about 75% of the food was gone, the chafing dished were for the most part empty. We questioned our serving attendant and asked if he expected us to accept these conditions, he was apologetic but also conveyed by gesture/looks that he knew the kitchen manager would balk at preparing more food. There were 20 persons sitting at tables with no food. Eventually the kitchen staff grudgingly agreed to bring freshly prepared food. The food by even the most optimistic person could be graded at no better than just edible. My Army basic training mess hall from 50 yr's ago had food that was superior in quality and preparation to anything I ate at this breakfast. The staff at this motel all seemed to be on the "young" side, it wasn't that they were incapable of better service but my impression is they knew ownership/management would not change anything, kind of "whats the use", nothing will change anyways so why do more than the minimum. The staff on the kitchen side also seemed understaffed, we had one server for 20 persons and the kitchen was a good 100 ft away, so any special order by the time it reached your table would be lukewarm (if it even left the kitchen hot). I advised the young man that he needed to ask for additional help, again his expression was, I'll try but I don't think it will happen. This motel is a converted Holiday Inn Holidome, I know it is close to 50 yr's old, I'm pretty sure it was built in the 1960's . The best thing they could do here is take a bulldozer and clean the it off the earth. My opinion is this poorly run establishment in asking guests to come stay here is just this side of "criminal, fraud and misrepresentation., take your pick. read more

The hotel price was descent , but the quality was not great. Unfortunately we were traveling to the west and needed someplace to stay. Our room was small and the thermostat was broken. It was 85 degrees in the room it felt like a sauna. when we went for breakfast all I could smell and taste was the chlorine from the pool. Who ever thought it was a good idea to put the pool in the same area as the dining area should switch careers. I will probably never stay at a Best Western again.. I would prefer Quality Inn and Red Roof. read more

This was probably a popular motel in it's day but it's day has passed. The rooms are small, the bedspreads are worn, 2 regular beds in the room instead of queens. The saving grace is breakfast which was decent with eggs, bacon and sausage and etc. Priceline sold us this as a 2.5 star hotel but they exaggerated in my opinion. I thought it was a two star but in all fairness, my husband gave it a 2.5 star because of the breakfast. read more

My first clue should have been the stale moldy smell when I walked in the room. The carpets appeared to not have been vacuumed in quite some time, lots of lint & other debris. The sheets were worn to the point they had holes. Bed was hard, it was like sleeping on a board. Towels were new but appears never washed as they had NO absorbency. The hair dryer was from the 70's and took forever to dry my hair. The outlets were so loose they couldn't hold my cell phone charger without falling out. Lost all power in my room on the 2nd morning while drying my hair, I finished getting ready by the flash light on my cell phone. I left a note and a $10 tip for Housekeeping and asked them to change the sheets, vacuum the floor and replace the towels, I got new towels and that was all. It does not get a 5 star as the internet did not work. After sending Best Western itself a feedback, they came back to say some swtich was off. I give Best Western as a corp a 5 star they give you a survey after you check out to fill out and they follow up on any issues. The other thing is they were remodeling and the construction workers were hanging out by one of the fellows truck and gib gabbed outside our room well into the night. Other than that it has a fantastic breakfast buffet and the room you eat in is like a lodge its huge it was great. I definitely would stay in this hotel again the people at the desk are wonderful. Another case its the people that make the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean no kleenex the dispenser was empty as it was in the outlaw best western in rock springs ,wy. however that is no issue just an oversight. I see the last post was from 3 years ago. I didnt see any of these problems here. I loved it. The room was not huge but roomy enough for my husband and I and our dog. Our dog even got his own bed!! I did not go to the breakfast bar, but I heard it was really nice. There is a hair dryer, laundry service, pool and other amenities here. The rooms have flat screen TV, easy access WIFI and the bathrooms were clean!!! My husband said the shower wasnt designed for tall people, but I had no problems. The biggest bonus for dog parents like us...there is a fenced in dog park right down the road!!! So it gave our pup a place to stretch his legs!! read more
