Great waitstaff-always friendly and personable. Restaurant is always clean. Service is generally quick. Unfortunately, over the past 18 mos or so, my family has noted that the food quality has gone downhill from the days when Katie Scully ran the place. Overcooked meat-especially the burgers. I have always recommended Heroes for the burgers, but bot my son and I have each experienced this on our last 3 visits. Loaded cheese fries and plain fries were excellent yesterday, but the Unknown Heroes tasted weird, as if the recipe was changed, and not in a good way. My husband and I have regularly used Heroes several times per year, and we almost always get 1 or 2 liters of the concoction to share with friends or, like yesterday, our grown-up kids. My kids are home from school and requested Heroes for the food and great family memories. Guess what? I really, really used Yelp to find this restaurant. Took our granddaughter to a volleyball camp, dropped her off and needed to eat before driving back to KC. Yelp to the rescue. What a place, down in the old part of town, old old building, in great condition, Menu was complicated, lots of choices and if I had time I would have tried them all. Patty Melt, french fries, onion rings. Wife had a mushroom swiss burger. Concierge was so helpful with the "deals " and seated us with all the info we needed. It had been about twenty years since we've eaten here at Heroes. I recall liking it, and not returning is no fault of their own. This time, at least, the service was impeccable and the hamburger was so delicious it hit the spot. I had been in the mood for a slightly charred burger and, in particular, from a non-chain restaurant in some smaller town or area. So, I suggested that we go to Warrensburg and visit that restaurant we ate at many moons ago. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, so about 5 PM on a Wednesday, and not many people. The only aspect (and this is not the restaurant's issue) that seemed sad was that I mistook a homeless person in the bathroom for an inebriated person from their bar. I later learned that, sadly, Warrensburg receives a small population of these people from Kansas City, which buses them here. Anyhow, that is a side story. My husband ordered the Warrensburger (cute name, btw) and I ordered a Mushroom with Monterey Jack. Both burgers were charred to perfection. He ordered fries, and I ordered a baked mashed potato casserole (I get tired of fries) and unfortunately it wasn't warmed all the way, but it also had way too much black pepper, which I can't have. The waitress wasn't only accommodating and understanding, but made it a point to apologize, and shared apologies from the cook. I told her that there wasn't any need, and that she was very kind. She stepped it up and graced me with a fully loaded baked potato--no issues. Gooey burger? Yes please! Passing by Warrensburg and decided to stop to eat. If you like Reuben sandwiches and gooey burgers the Han Burger fits the bill! Burger was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of kraut and thousand island. I ordered the mushroom burger and couldn't have been more pleased. Burger was juicy and the melty provolone was fantastic. Service was wonderful. Sam was slammed with a large party but remained steadfast in our service. Tuesday night was perfect- quiet with some tables of regulars. We will definitely be back to try the green chili burger!!!! read more

Went to Heroes for a going away party for the hubs. Gotta say we weren't too impressed. The best part about Heroes was the casual atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly, but, not very attentive and didn't time the appetizers vs the main meal well. The food was a real bummer. The chips from our appetizer had an awful taste to them and the pasta for my main meal was extremely overdone and gluey. Everyone else's reaction to their meals was "eh, it's okay." Nice little sports bar in downtown Warrensburg. Staff was friendly and attentive. The potato skins were fantastic, as was the fajita potato, and Monterey Chicken sandwich. Memories. In July I got the opportunity to visit Warrensburg, MO a place I moved out of back in 1986. Heroes was a staple eating place for our family and was the first job I had aside of paperboy ( I was a busboy) so I had to stop by and visit. Heroes has grown in size since my time working there but I was so grateful the French dip was still there and the fries still on point. While there I got to chat with some of the folks who worked there including the current owners who reminded me how special the Midwest hospitality is. I have always been grateful for the memories I have from working and eating there back in my youth. Warrensburg seems to agree with me as Heroes is now working on their fourth decade as a place to eat good food and make good memories!! read more

Ugh!! Met my family for Father's Day lunch today and we were very disappointed!! The French fries and patty melt and onion rings were as always-perfect!! If you are looking for a pub environment with a great burger, the B2 Burger was amazing. Jackson was great and the owner was super nice.

The service was very lack luster, barely anyone in the restaurant and hardly checked on us. Asked if they had military discount as they printed the receipt, and the guy crumbled the receipt with an attitude and walked away, as we were leaving we then overheard them talking negatively behind our family members backs not realizing we were behind them. We were visiting in town yesterday. I got the chicken sandwich. It was put on the bun full of grease which made the bun completely fall apart. The fries were cold and mushy. This restaurant was recommended to me by my hotel and overall it wasn't bad, but some aspects were better than others. I started off with buffalo wings which were very good followed up by a BBQ cheeseburger that is served on a pretzel bun. The burger was recommended by the friendly staff and was also very good, but the fries leave something to be desired. You can tell they are fresh-cut but are not crispy which is what I prefer. Since I didn't eat anything all day I opted to try the brownie for dessert after my meal which was the first choice I regret. The brownie was small and tasted bland while being served with two big scoops of vanilla ice cream. I ended up leaving most of it on the plate which was a shame because I love chocolate! Service: I went and tried this place for the first time. I called in a order and went to pick it up. I looked online and it showed a burger special for $6.99. When I called and tried to order it, they said it's not valid to call in. No where on the website does it say in store only. So I got charged for the $9.99 burger. Burger: It's a 8oz burger with some seasoning. A little over cooked but it was warm. It comes with a big kosher bun and the regular fixings. The fries it came with were house made but good. I've been coming here for a year now. The service is always incredibly good. The students and locals who work there are friendly, hard-working and make the experience there amazing. The food is fast and good. Their pastas and salads are my favorites. Their brokkoli chicken pasta is very well made, it has good spices in it, it is not blend at all! Their starters are really good too. I usually get starters and then a salad. Their salads are loaded! Even their half salads/ side salads are so filling. Their cocktails & shots are pretty good. The 'Unknown cocktail' is their speciality. I highly recommend it. It's delicious, not overly sweet and will get you in a good mood. The selection of drinks and shots are fantastic. I recommend for dine-in or sitting at the bar. There is never a long wait for tables. The music there is all time rock/hits. I like that they play alternative rock a lot. Their Tuesdays is happy hour and it is the place to be. I will certainly miss this bar once I graduate. It is the best bar to go to with your friends on any day honestly! This is a tough review. We had a bad experience eating here, but it was handled very well. Still I don't know if I would return. That is a real shame because they have good food. One of the best burgers I have had in a long time. I don't want to go into the details that created the bad situation, but I have to give huge kudos to the staff for how great they handled the situation. This place does not look from the outside like it would be gluten-free so I was pleased to find the "bourbon basted salmon" (See picture). For some reason, they gave me eight pads of individually wrapped butter. Perhaps to fill the negative space left by the absence of the side of bread? Why not throw a tomato on there or sprig of parsley? The salmon was cooked aldente, which I suppose is the correct way to do it, though I wish they would've caramelized the bourbon on it instead. Was the baked potato baked or boiled? I really couldn't tell you. I'm giving it only three stars because when I go out to eat I expect the food to be a little better than what I would cook at home. After waiting for about 45 minutes our server came back by and noticed that we were still sitting without food. It was evident that she did not actually input the order. We ate twice here on our visit from Georgia. Good service, good food and clean facility. Zero complaints.

A small-town college-vibe dive bar co-located with the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Service was pleasant. Greeted promptly and with a smile and seated right away at a table with, seemingly, church pews for benches. My church pew bench was rocky and wobbly. Seemed weird. Our server was a college student but very friendly and provided attentive and prompt service. Good attitude. Was never offered a refill on water and I always think that water should be topped off at least once during the meal. Gives the server a chance to provide table service, clear debris, empty dishes etc. I ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad, which was probably a mistake because this joint isn't known for their healthy options. My counterpart ordered their signature B2 Burger Combo - which looked really awesome and fatty; just the way a burger should be! It was piled high with two parties, fried onion rings and a ton of cheese with accompanying seasoned home fries. My buddy also got their signature drink called "The Unknown." No one other than the bartenders who work there know the recipe, allegedly. I find this kind of hard to believe due to people having allergies or wanting to know what they are putting in their bodies. But the menu had nothing but prices. I don't find that alluring, I find it off-putting. My salad was disheartening. And it was weird that they had a few pieces of cold (a little undercooked) penne pasta incorporated within. The chicken was flavorful but room temp, in other words, not freshly cooked. The romaine lettuce was served well, not wet and watery, but it wasn't really fresh either. It was an overpriced chicken salad... But in Heroes defense, you don't go here to eat healthy. $1 beers for happy hour, 2-4-1 drink specials, and $0.75 wing nights -- mile-high burgers and American comfort food is what this place is about, catering to the college scene. The food came relatively quick after ordering on a Sunday around 3pm. It wasn't that busy. There were a few flies that bothered a few times during my meal, but that's to be expected in Missouri during the summer. The bathroom cleanliness was above satisfactory. I expected a dirty bathroom, but I was pleasantly surprised. It smelled clean and was clean. Overall, I gave 3-stars because I wasn't really impressed with the food or ambiance. It was loud, the church pew bench that wobbled was weird, and I was kind of weirded out by "The Unknown" drink. The redeeming quality was the friendly service. I won't be returning anytime soon but if I ever decide to grub a huge juicy delicious burger with home-style fries and cheap beer and wings, I'll know where to go. read more
