But unfortunately that wasn't the case when I hired Brown's: - They didn't do the job correctly, and they left it unfinished without communicating to me. (Causing another contractor to work much harder.) - They showed up very late, then tried to charge more when they had to have other people come help get the job done on time. Then they left the job undone. - They quoted me a rate of $200 an hour on five different occasions, but when it came time to pay, Kelly changed the price to $300 an hour. He knew every detail and aspect of the job ahead of time and lied when I confronted him about the cost difference. DO NOT HIRE THEM WITHOUT AN ESTIMATE IN WRITING. - On top of charging more than he said he would, he added two hours to a five hour job. (I was there for the entire process to see how long it took). When my partner found out I had been ripped off and they had broken their verbal agreement (I was too exhausted to battle it any more), Brown's promised they'd send a check in the mail for the cost difference. After weeks of not hearing anything else, we followed up again and were once again told the difference would be in the mail. It's been weeks again -- and there's no check in the mail. I paid almost double what I was quoted for a job that wasn't completely done, and the part that was done was done poorly. I may not get back what I was ripped off -- but maybe I can help someone else avoid the same experience.

Half the day went by and then we received a call that "maybe I can make it up there at the end of the day IF I have room". We live right off the main highway a few miles. We aren't talking about 20 miles off some dirt road with a football stadium holding tank. We were then also told that the minimum price would be the highest quoted price we were given and even then probably more than that. So they wasted our time, wasted our day, dishonest on price and are undoubtedly completely incompetent. A better waste of your day would to be standing at the MVD line, for fun.

We were given a loose quote of $1200-$1400 for a septic pump. We were in a bind for time and agreed. The job was mismanaged from day 1, and the techs spent hours sitting in our driveway idling the digger and sitting in their truck on their phones. It took them 3 days to finish a simple septic pump and the moment they finished, the tech stood at the front door and berated my husband to pay $3000 immediately. Apparently they charge an $1800 digging fee for approx. 30 mins of digging. We were never told they would demand payment up front, and so aggressively. They left our front lawn in shambles; we had to re-sod and clean it up ourselves. Furthermore, since they weren't finished punishing us, two months later they deposited all of our checks to them at once; completely draining our checking account. The manager was unapologetic, insulted my husband, told him he was raised wrong, "clearly couldn't handle his personal finances," and hung up on him. Insult added to injury. DO. NOT. USE. THIS. COMPANY. Literally get a quote from anywhere else and avoid them at any and all cost.
