You know how the internal conversation goes with yourself; uuggg.... "I have to hire a contractor for XYZ", schedule site visits, get quotes, follow up questions.... by the time you've had 6 companies come to your house, you just want it over with. Last year we started our adventure of getting a new fence installed. I called the "big 2" fence companies in the area (you know who they are). I had to re-read the quotes several times. Simple 6ft vinyl/PVC grey fence with post caps and spring hinged latching gate. I asked "would the fence be gold plated? or does this price include the rest of the neighborhood?" Niether thought I was funny. Late winter this year (2026) we decided to contact medium size/ more local companies. Every estimator we met was personable and knowledgeable. But Fabio from Fence 101 (owner) came prepared with samples, booklets, and the most important thing.... time. He and I walked around my yard, assessed what I had, gave suggestions, showed me options, discussed materials and we talked about family/kids etc. It was like talking to that new person you meet, that you immediately have repour with. He is really a quality gentleman. (I have a Gibbs gut that says so). All the quotes we received this year were within a hundred bucks or so of eachother. Price was not the major factor in our decision to hire F101, but their price the most economical and competitive. The install crew arrived when they were scheduled and worked ALL day; of both two days. They didn't bang out at 2pm like most contractors, these guys were gettin' it done. When I asked them questions about panels, post depth, wind resistance, yadda yadda, they stopped working, took the time to fully answer my queries and were happy to engage. These guys were hard working, strong, accurate and respectful of my small piece of the world. And they were having fun. In two days 95% of the job was complete. The gate and post tops came on a separate order. The gate arrived at Fabio's shop the wrong color. He contacted me right away, and informed me he already had the correct color on order. It was being delivered the next day and would be installed ASAP ... on a SATURDAY! SATURDAY? Really? I was impressed. Fabio himself and (what I believed to be) his lead field person, installed the post caps and gate before I got home from grocery shopping. (my wife being away on a trip) They had it complete by 10:30 AM. Boom! It was done. Seriously 5 stars . When the Queen returned she was blown away! She was stunned as to how awesome it looked. Fence 101 asks for half down deposit, which more than resonible. They have a bunch of colors available with different posts caps and hardware. Materials are USA local NY. Price includes install and material warranty. They also took my 40 year old stockade fence down for recycling. Fabio followed up with us after the job to make sure there were no issues. I'm including some pictures and videos (from my security cameras) of the work; his crew removing the old fence, installing the new, etc. One vid clip is Fabio on the phone with me discussing which way the gate should open/close/swing/latch. And check out his dancing moves! I will be following up with Fence 101 to purchase gate handles, that I forgot to add to the initial install. His price was not the lowest I got but seemed fair and he seemed confident and knowledgeable. We signed a contract to remove and replace my dilapidated wood fence with a new horizontal panel wood fence. I was so excited since I had been waiting years to be able to afford it. He scheduled me in and showed up as expected. There were a few hiccups along the way - which truly should have been an indication that this would not end well but it was too late by then. He seemed understanding and did redo the issue though I still felt uneasy because it wasn't good, just better than it had been. Sadly it just still isn't up to par as the tops of the posts aren't level so the top of the fence has peaks and valleys that just make it look sloppy. The posts are spaced so unevenly- some 8ft others like 4-5 ft which he claims is because my yard was hard to dig in and assured me multiple times that once he was done you wouldn't see the posts at all. That was because he was planning to put the good side facing into my yard... what kind of fence professional would do that without asking- I had to have him change it around and thank god I did otherwise you'd see this monstrosity from the street. He used 5x5 posts (that I can't be sure are even fence posts, they look more like landscape timbers) but the top rail that's supposed to make it look finished doesn't cover the whole top of the post and since the posts are unlevel there are big gaps between them and the top rail, that I imagine will cause issues (trap moisture/ debris/ cause warping). The gate that Jose built is absolutely huge and absurdly heavy, it was sagging within a couple days after install and he had to come back to make adjustments. I asked for more heavy duty hinges since the gate is just so huge. It's about 48" wide, I don't know why- I never said I wanted it wide (normal size to fit my trash barrels thru would have been fine). He did put much bigger hinges on. The top of the top hinge isn't attached to anything/ sticks up over top of the fence). Unfortunately he stripped most of the screws and used mismatched ones- others he never installed. Well the gate already started sagging again, wobbles the entire run of fence it's attached to everytime it's opened/ closed and you have to jam it to shut. I sent a msg to Jose (fence has been up a couple weeks now and I really tried to not complain again but it's just that bad) he did not reply until I have him a 2 star review on Thumbtack where I hired him. He came back again and claimed he would rebuild the gate and switch the side it hangs on at my request. I asked him to make the fence level- like am I using the wrong word or something... because he said to do that it would be 6ft on one end and 4ft at the other. Umm I just mean have the top straight and not waving up and down. He also had a very emotional response when he came back- like sorry if your feelings are hurt but I don't think expecting decent workmanship is unreasonable. He was acting like he did me a favor and I should just be grateful. Bottom line is he did shoddy work that I paid almost 7k for. And now I have to have a real fence company come fix his mistakes which will cost me who knows how much more.

They felt like a nice local operation that I was happy to support. I was very happy with the work. It took a day and a half to get the old fence removed and the new fence up. They did a great job of clearing all the debris and not damaging any plants. I met with Mr. Cunningham who was very polite and professional. I gave him the dimensions of my gate and asked him to make sure the with of the gate was 46.75" wide. He stated he would and the gate would be ready to be picked up in Plymouth the following Wednesday. I paid $395.00 plus tax and drove back to Mattapoisett. I called the following Wednesday and was informed that the gate was not on the truck and I would have to wait another week to pick up the gate. After waiting another week I called your Plymouth location to see if my gate could be picked up. Didn't make the truck again!!! I was informed that the gate was in Stoughton. Now waiting 3 weeks for my gate I told Mr. Cunningham, I would pick up the gate. Picked up the gate and drove back To Mattapoisett to install the gate. The gate was manufactured to 45.75" wide and looks awful installed on my beautiful fence . Mr Cunningham made a note on the work order that " MAKE ACTUAL WITH 46.75"-THIS IS IMPORTANT. This was not a good experience. After posting this review I was contacted by the owner ,he gave me is personal cell number and he offered to replace the gate and personally deliver it to my home. Reliable Fence is not a good company…read more They didn't have a foreman at the site. The crew couldn't communicate with neighbors and didn't know the property lines. Crew put their installation equipment on my fence without even asking me. The police had to be called since they had no staking of property lines. Reliable doesn't respect property lines of neighbors or do any due diligence before installing the fence. They rely on a their contract to have no accountability for important issues of property lines and permits. When I was shopping for a fence years ago, I didn't pick Reliable Fence since cheap fencing material. They broke the noise ordinance and worked 2 hours past the deadlines. Reliable Fence Management was not concerned about breaking the rules. Just as they were not concerned with ensuring property owner staked the property boundaries. Reliable Fence Management had no concern for their staff and sent them out to work in a storm with 20 to 50 mile hour winds with large trees near the installation area. Reliable Fence was reported to the department of labor for their unsafe work practices. DONT USE THIS COMPANY. Worst Fence Company with lack of accountability. poor quality of materials, and no oversight of the workers.
