We wanted to remove a wall during our kitchen remodel, and Engin provided the necessary engineering plans. He was very friendly and professional. The plans were completed promptly and, at least to my untrained eyes, appeared to be of high quality. Anyway the house didn't collapse so I guess he knows what he's doing. Engin also helpfully made himself available during construction when the contractor had a question about the plans - he showed up in person and talked the contractor through the issue. For my specific project he handled all of the structural work for the seismic retrofit and when my architect had a melt down he even stepped in and took on that responsibility too. I retained him to take a look at my soft-story job in SF. After reviewing the drawings and doing a walk-through of the building, he determined that my building may actually be exempt from the soft story requirements. Without making any promises, he said he would look at the drawings further and get back to me. Within 2 weeks he had obtained an official exemption from the San Francisco Building Department. Engin's services included providing blueprints and construction drawings, making renovation recommendations, obtaining city building permits, and assistance with passing all inspections by the city. Engin did a masterful job with our 4th floor addition. Our original engineer ran into complications with the lateral load and wanted to reinforce down to the ground level which would have cost a fortune. Engin was referred to us by a neighbor and he was able to solve the problem with ease. I joined him at the building dept when applying for the permit, and he was able to answer their questions and walk thru his engineering calculations with clarity. They tested him on granular details and he passed with flying colors. During construction Engin was consistently available and onsite with the foreman when questions popped-up. The contractor said we "like working with Engin, he makes the building easy." Which is what we heard from his other references. He comes from working closely with contractors and designs structures in a straight forward and economical manner saving his clients money.
