Ed Galloway's Totem Pole Park is a really small but nice spot to stop by. It's pretty cool getting to see the world's tallest totem pole up close it's definitely something unique you don't see every day. The grounds are simple but well worth a quick visit if you're in the area. They do have a cute little gift shop, which adds to the experience, but unfortunately the service wasn't great. I had my 2 year old son with me, and the woman working there told me it's not a place for kids, which felt pretty off putting. Overall, it's a neat and interesting place to check out, just maybe be prepared for a less-than welcoming experience in the shop. read more

a trip on Route 66 wouldn't be complete without a stop here just off Route 66. You pull into the parking lot a you start your adventure with 14 acres to explore they have 11 unique structures and 1 building to amaze you. The first thing to catch your is the world's largest concrete Totem pole walk inside and look up. Each of the totem poles are one a kind. Once you get you fill of Totem poles head over to the fiddle house yes fiddle house inside you will find some of Mr Galloway's hand carved fiddles and more like the totem poles being unique so is this building 11 sided to be exact. This National Register of Historic Places site on Route 66 is home to The World's Largest Concrete Totem Pole created my Missourian is an intricate piece of work! Bright colors help enhance the tribute to Native American portraits, symbols and animals of the Haida and Tlingit tribes. Also an arrowhead with tribute to Five Tribes of Oklahoma. There's other concrete art pieces in the park as well. Using the QR codes you can read up on stories. The Fiddle House is a gift shop with stories on Mr. Galloway and the Totem Pole Park! Don't forget to collect your Route 66 stamp as well. Gift shop worker was a pleasant lady, very helpful! There's also structure where you could picnic and have a small gathering. read more

We drive by here almost every weekend and we've only stopped briefly with some out of town guests back in June. We did not stay long enough. This past weekend, we stopped by to have a picnic lunch. Besides the artisan tables you see from the highway, there are two different covered picnic areas in the back. After our lunch we really looked around the place, walking inside the giant totem pole and visiting Galloway's workshop (open most days). The volunteer working was so informative and I will stop again just to revisit this museum. Galloway was definitely an eccentric and creative genius. This is a great place to stop with pets (even though they aren't allowed in the workshop/museum. There is a large area behind the park for running. read more

Today we did a short sightseeing trip and went to see the Blue Whale in Catoosa as well as the Totem Pole Park. I was impressed with the totem pole park. There were numerous tables with benches for seating. All the totem poles themselves were in very good condition and all looked like they had recently been repainted. The colors were vibrant and sharp. It was a very interesting visit, and I'm glad that we had the opportunity to see it. read more

Don't go expecting much..,. And you will be surprised how interesting the large totem is. Definitely newly painted beautifully! Take time to really see all sides and talk about the designs. Our favorite is one that looks like it's smoking a cigarette. An open pipe is sticking out looking like it's coming out of the mouth. Not to ruin the surprise....... But on the bottom is a turtle! I always love turtles. It does have a few others but they are in need of repainting. There is a little building, gift shop, but it was closed when we went. Grass mowed nice and one area had some picnic tables. Grandson loved this stop on our route 66 drive. read more

We set our sites on this place and arrived as the only people and vehicle on site. Got our little dog out of the vehicle and older lady yelled 'dog across the road' I did not know what she meant and then realized no dogs must not be allowed to walk around the totem park. We wouldn't have taken him into the museum and I would have carried him had she been more friendly. Instead I took a pic from our vehicle and we left. Make note there is no way to get back on I 44 east once you get off at that exit. read more

This was truly an odd place to stop. I had heard about this stopping point on "The Mother Road" old Route 66 so we HAD to stop. Sad to say I was disappointed, but I am sure back in the day this might have been a hoot for people during the 50's. Here is a little of the history: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and claiming the title of the World's Largest Concrete Totem Pole, the park features a 90 foot totem pole that towers over the park in a vivid array of folk art colors. Ed Galloway built the totem pole over an 11 year period from 1937 to 1948, utilizing some 28 tons of cement, six tons of steel, and 100 tons of sand and rock. His tribute to the American Indian features 200 carved pictures, with four nine-foot Indians near the top each representing a different tribe. The centerpiece totem pole, rising from the back of an enormous turtle, sits in the midst of a beautiful nine acre park. The park also features Galloway's eleven-sided "Fiddle House" that previously housed his hand-carved fiddles. Artifacts made by Ed Galloway and visuals of the park development are also on display in the museum. Throughout the park are numerous of colorful totems that display a variety of Indian Folk Art. read more
