This was my first visit to Waterfront Grill and I brought my out of town guest…read more We got to sit out on the patio and enjoy the views. I had the Newport Beach Salad. It had greens, rotisserie chicken, bacon, Romano cheese, trail mix with a champagne vinaigrette. All the ingredients went well together. My guest both ordered the steak with a side baked potato. A few minutes after placing the order, the waitress came back and said that they were down to only one baked potato left. OK, no problem. One of them ordered the fries instead. A minute after that, the waitress came back and said I am so sorry, but we are completely out of baked potatoes. We had a good laugh about that. It happens. We're flexible.

We were seated right away and our waitress was super prompt, we never went thirsty. They only carry Pepsi products so I tried one of their seasonal cocktails instead and it was actually really good. My boyfriend got the Tillamook burger and I would come back just for that alone. I ordered the ribeye, a little fattier than I prefer but still really flavorful, and the mashed potatoes were perfect with it. We also tried a sushi roll and as someone who is picky about sushi, I was pleasantly surprised. They do have a lot of rolls with cream cheese which I'm not into, so this one was an ideal choice. It was fresh, a little spicy, and really well balanced. Service was quick, food came out fast, and eating by the river made it feel like a great easy dinner spot. Definitely coming back.

One of the things I've learned over time, is that we kind of all go out for a couple of reasons…read more Most importantly, we want to just enjoy something that isn't at our house, something that presents differently, an elevated level. This place had this element and more. We went into the bar for relaxation and fun. We enjoyed the beef Wellington pastry, the fried green tomatoes, and the wedge salad. All of those kind of sound simple individually, but in truth, they each elevated our eating experience to a level that I was very happy to enjoy. Now let's take it to another level when I critique the atmosphere, this is the kind of place, you felt like you walked into and you can dress casually, but you can also dress a bit more special and you wouldn't feel out a place. How you're treated as a customer is very important. We were treated like the kind of customer that you hope to be treated like, like you belong. Our bartender tonight was Marlon. And we will come back many more times because his service was warm, inviting and approachable. I hope he enjoyed our interaction as much as we enjoyed our time with him. We will be back for sure.

But with that said everything else was perfect with clean, comfortable beds, large modernized rooms & the front desk personnel was very professional & helpful. One other note, the Mayo has an extensive history & a number of Movies/TV shows were filmed inside including Sylvester Stallones "Tulsa Kings" Next time passing through Tulsa we will absolutely stay at the Mayo again.

I asked to switch rooms, and while the front desk initially said there were rooms available, they later said they couldn't help and that the hotel was full. The way this was communicated felt dismissive and unfriendly. There were also maintenance issues: the safety deposit box was broken, the shower splashed water everywhere due to a poorly designed shower head, and the lighting in the room was inadequate. I needed a desk to work and asked to switch rooms again, but was told no in a way that felt unwelcoming. Overall, not a great experience. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

They definitely have their own twist on things. The sweet potatoes were good but a little heavy on the nutmeg. They tasted like a mix of apple and pumpkin pie. The mac and cheese was really creamy. I really liked the horseradish coleslaw. I'm not a big fan of collard greens but I still tried them and actually thought they were pretty good. For our mains, two of us had the brisket and one had ribs. Both were super good. There were 4 different sauces. I recommend trying them all. I wanted to try the sausage but they were sold out. I guess you need to get there earlier than an hour before they closed. We finished with a couple desserts. The banana pudding was probably the best I've had. Their seasonal cobbler was blueberry and very tasty! I was hoping for peach. Maybe next time. Yes there will definitely be a next time. It was a lot of food so we had plenty left over that ate for lunch the next day. The atmosphere is super friendly and really clean. Like most barbecue places I've been to there is no table service. You order and pay at the counter. Then depending on how busy they are they will bring your food to your table or have you pick up at the counter. For me the cherry on top is their pay it forward meal. For $15 you can buy a meal for someone in need. They hand you a receipt that you pin to a board. Then when someone needs a meal they can go in and grab one off the board. They offer them their lunch special. While I was there I saw a very grateful individual come in and get a meal. The staff were super nice and treated them just like any other customer. Great food! Great service! Great value! Do yourself a favor and try this place!
