If I could give this place negative stars I would, zero stars is too generous. I try to avoid posting negative reviews but I got some stuff to get off my chest, unfortunately. I presented here early April because a form that was supposed to be mailed to me was sent to an incorrect old address. While waiting in a 2 hour line I finally made it into the main waiting room where I was presented with a ticket, and told to wait for my number to be called. Before my number was called EDD had their internal team contact to see if my issue could be addressed over the phone. I explained to them I needed to pickup form DE2525XX (which is basically a doctors extension certification for you to continue receiving benefits). The representative I was speaking to over the phone was kind enough to reprint form DE2525XX for me which needed to be filled out by my doctor. His sage words were "make a copy of the completed form before you mail it in". I dropped off form DE2525XX with my doctor and needed to wait a several days before it would be complete. In between this waiting window EDD mailed me form DE2547D3 which looked similar to form DE2525XX but requested more detailed information. Annoyed because my doctor was already given form DE2525XX I present to EDD again to inquire about the new formed that I received. I waited in line for nearly 2 hours before I made it to the waiting room. Again, I was contacted by an EDD employee via phone to discuss the reason for my second visit. I explained my doctor had a printed form that EDD supplied days earlier but after that form was picked up a second form was mailed out. I specifically asked if form DE2547D3 needed to be filled out in lieu of DE2525, the representative assured me it was just a system generated letter that was mailed because of the address change/update. She stated I would be fine to proceed with returning printed form DE2525. That form was mailed out once completed by my doctor and after waiting weeks for EDD's system to update my information I couldn't wait any longer. I took copied form DE2525XX and stood in line again. After making it to the waiting room, pulling a number, and waiting my turn I finally get called to a window where this rude employee took one look at the printed form EDD had given me and said "we can't accept printed forms here". I questioned her about why I waited in line multiple times to not only pickup form DE2525, but confirm form DE2547D3 was not really needed. She had no answers, worse yet she showed no empathy to my stressful financial situation and was confused as to why an employee from their office would print out an invalid form. She requested I return with form DE2547D3 once completed by my physician and said when I did the information could be input into their system during my next visit. She was clearly incompetent and inept because that information was incorrect as well. I return a 4th time now with form DE2547D3 completed by my physician anxious to have this finally resolved. I wait in the same over populated line, pull my ticket, get to a window, and was told the information although correct couldn't be manually entered into their system but rather the form had to be mailed out. I literally watched the rep stuff my form into an envelope and drop it into an outgoing mailbox . I was told to allow 5-10 business days for processing. Here we are 30+ days later and that forms information still has not been updated. What a joke. Get it together EDD and hire competent compassionate employees, please. read more

There an employee I didn't get his name, but I can describe him.His African-American he wears hand braces on both of his hands and his rude . I get there in the first thing he says do you have your case number? So I answer no but here's my ID. He was upset that he needed to look it up so after I was told there is nothing on the system. I said OK well I have a copy of my application along with my doctors information and he said well I can't take it. You need to wait or send it back again so I decided to speak to a manager. They gave me another number and I had to wait another 40 minutes before I was seen by someone else he was a lot of help. He was really nice and was able to help me with my paperwork unfortunately I didn't get his name. The worker was pretty blunt -- probably because he deals with many people looking for resolutions he can't provide. I came twice for my updated case, but nothing was resolved. It felt like a waste of time; they couldn't even check things properly. It's frustrating trying to get my paid tax processed when they work so slowly. read more

Applied for disability last April and had NO PROBLEM. Applied again in August because I underwent knee surgery. They took 2 weeks to contact me for information. They emailed me at 8:30 PM asking for information. I contacted my employer and tried to give EDD that information but since they are IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of over the phone. They denied my claim. My employer also stated they never received the form to fill out but EDD claimed they sent it and it took 2 weeks for someone just to call me and tell me that.... Anyone know what to do to fight this? read more

The people that help you at the window are very nice, but the rest of the staff have no compassion. I get that some of the people on disability are very obnoxious and needy, but to treat everyone like that is ridiculous. It hurts to stand in line with my disability and sometimes I would sit for a second because I can't bear the weight. They would get all mad and be like you can't sit here ! I just feel like you could be more accommodating to the people in line. Especially when I finally make it in the room and there's over 10 seats available. I don't understand why you would staff employees (highway patrol) when they have no compassion for people in pain. It's like we're an inconvenience to them when we're the ones in pain. Went here a few times to see if my Paid Family Leave could be processed. They cannot process claims, seems at most they can answer questions and help with information and give info as to what documents you may need, and maybe able to upload documents you bring in if memory serves me right . Waited in line for about an hour and 45 minutes just to go sit down in the room and wait some more. By the time it was my turn, the guy told me there was nothing he could do to help me because my identity was stolen, and I should have photocopied everything in my mail which I would never ever do. For someone who's never made a claim and has no idea how this stuff works. I can tell you for sure it's a nightmare that I don't wanna ever have to do again.. in the end, I did file everything by snail mail and eventually got a check for payment. Call first for your needs. I needed a form for my physician and they said they stopped printing these. I waited an hour to be told this in which the screener did not inform me of at the time of sign in and asked the purpose of my visit. I had been at this location before and was not denied a form. I had to go here to get my SDI claim processed. Believe me, I did everything I could to avoid coming here. I had called EDD for weeks and nobody over the phone could give me a legitimate answer as to why it wasn't processing. I even contacted my assemblyperson, who got EDD to contact me, though I missed the call. It wasn't bad! After waiting for about an hour and a half I was able to talk to someone who resolved the issue in less than 10 minutes. Money was released and deposited the same day. The total time in this office was way shorter than the hours I spent on hold, or simply trying to even get into a virtual queue. Some issues: there was no social distancing at all. Some people were visibly ill as well. One guy had no mask, good luck to him during omicron time. You have to pay for parking. It's a maximum of 18/day. read more

I had a missing EDD check and no luck calling the call center so I decided to drive down to the office and take my chances. Yes you have to pay for hourly parking and the parking lot wraps around the two buildings. I did see some free street parking if you go around the back of the two buildings. I went on a Wednesday afternoon around 1pm and the waiting room was pretty full when I got there. I ended up only waiting a little over an hour. The security guard said that the wait was longer in the morning with the line extending all the way to the elevators. As I was waiting, the waiting room emptied pretty quickly. You sign in and take a number and then wait for your number to be called at 4 different windows. The girl who helped me was quick and efficient at resolving why I had come there even while she was training another girl. The parking machine is a little hidden on the lobby floor inside a little nook beside the elevators. Make sure you pay before you leave. All in all, I was very surprised by how quickly it went. Just have your claim ID so they can look you up quickly. :) read more

I love the fact you can go into an office to receive help on claims. I understand some of these reviews can base themselves on their unique situation not necessarily on the office itself. In all honesty I believe standards and the way the office is ran needs lots of improvement and find it very inefficient. Covid standards are not taken in consideration ONLY for employees who are well protected in desks behind thick plexy glass meanwhile the waiting room guests are packed like sardines spilling out into the hallway. Another thing the way they assist you is all the same. Whether you have quick questions, complex situations you really need assistance with, or simply need information on how to do something you will wait hours just to be helped in less than 5 minutes and be sent on your way. Lastly, I hope EDD figures out a way to also get their phone line assistance number actually operational because its not. It'll ring tell you there too many callers try again later. No matter if it says you can reach someone by calling their number that's not true. read more

If you are having issues with your disability payment I HIGHLY recommend going directly to the EDD office. I made sure to be there when they opened. Waited max (5) mins. Haywood assisted me. Which doesn't sound horrible, you'll be in and out in an hour right? Wrong. Try 3-4hrs maybe even longer. There's literally 3 maybe 4 windows helping people. You're going to sit in this horrible place til your soul dies. That is if you get a seat cause you have to wait in line just for one of those. If you thought the DMV was horrible, come here. You may think, I'll just call in and not come inside. Good luck! No matter what you do, the phone line will be tied up. I applied online for Disability benefits after having my baby back in February. I was confused on the next steps so decided to get help in-person since I couldn't reach anyone when I called...I made multiple attempts calling in and received the same message that "currently the maximum number of callers is reached, please try again later" or whatever the automated message said. When I'm doubt, go to the office and get help this way. I didn't wait long and the lady who helped me, Lauren was so kind and patient. She didn't make me feel like an idiot and helped me with the next steps so I could receive my disability benefits. If I ever need help again, I'm definitely going to go here and not waste my time calling in. read more

This was the best decision I made going into this office ! I have called the EDD line multiple times and never get through. I submitted all my paper work through mail and they mailed a letter to mail in a copy of my ID & utility bill no one got back to me and I haven't been paid in month and a half. I'm Went to this office on a Thursday at 8:30am and I waited about 10-15min. It was so fast!! So surprised. Everyone was very nice, Sean who helped me was so kind and got my claims approved & told me I will finally get paid at midnight. This was the best decision I made going into this office. Parking is $1.25 every 15min. I paid $3.75 so I was in there less than an hour. read more

This place is a joke! I went on Tuesday morning and was directed to the check in window. There was an Asian employee with a beanie looking down on his cellphone as I stood in front of the glass window waiting to be helped. He had me wait until he felt like it. I almost thought he was sleeping as he didn't move his head from looking down at his cellphone for so long. He had no interest to help! I let him know that I was there to get assistance with Paid Family Leave. He handed me a yellow application and advised to fill it out and drop it off later. I informed him that I already had an application and I showed him the form (red and white form). He asked me for my ID and he asked me to wait for my number to be called. I waiting for about 1 hour and witnessed most people ahead of me not get the assistance they hoped for. They had 3 employees taking numbers. The Hispanic female lady at the far left was rude and condescending to the clients. I was happy that I didn't get called by her. I was called by an older Asian man who said he could not help with Paid Family Leave and sent me away. I was upset that the check in window told me otherwise. Don't expect to be helped by this place. They have incompetent employees that just sit there and don't care to help. People who are there and in need of financial assistance and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect! This place needs to be investigated as they are not delivering the assistance needed by the people. read more

I received a notice online to call the DI number at 800-480-3287 to explain what my job entailed prior to disability. Odd but ok. I have since returned to work so calling during their office hours are also my work hours and I have a very busy job that does not allow time off to make calls. Yet, I tried a total of 27 times in one week at different times and days. I was never able to get through or even leave a message since the recording states each time, "The maximum calls has been reached. Please hang up and try again." Not sure why they asked me to call in if the office is not able to answer any of my calls. read more

PRO- Actual process: I went on a Thursday and arrived around 10:30 and was super surprised at how efficient it was (comparatively to other state department systems). I only waited about 25 min. before I was called. The girl I dealt with didn't seem to stoked to be there but she got the job done which is really all that mattered. CON- Location/ Parking: initialy I wasn't sure if I was in the right place because it's one big nice tower of multiple offices, but it's the right place. Also, as people have said, parking is $1.50/15 min... which is bizarre that you'd have to pay for parking considering the fact that people are here because of financial difficulties. However, it's a small price to pay when getting through to the office via phone is virtually impossible and here you can actually talk to a real person and get your issues resolved within an hour... so yea. Moral of the story- Go to the office. read more

The office is currently closed due to covid, but security downstairs was able to give me a copy a form DE 2501 for disability insurance benefits. Here's the whole story: I was able to fill out Part A of the form online. EDD encourages having your doctor fill out Part B online. However, my doctor is old school and wanted a paper copy. EDD has a PDF copy of the form online, but it is useless, as the forms aren't blank - they are filled in with sample data which can't be deleted. (I suppose someone who has Adobe Acrobat Pro could delete that data, but that's more trouble than it's worth.) So the only option was to get an actual paper copy, and going to the office was the quickest way to get it. read more

So after several attempts to get a hold of EDD by phone and email, I finally decided to go into the office this past friday around 1pm. I waited about 25/30 mins before being called and when I spoke with the representative, she told me that EDD sent me an address verification and they needed a copy of my ID and a utility bill. I had no idea that was the only this missing and online it doesn't even tell you. I would've came in sooner if i knew that was the issue. Luckily I was able to take care of it. It wasn't long to see someone but I arrived like at 7:10. I dropped off my paperwork hoping it would be expedited but nope. The lady had me take a picture of my paper work and said it will be processed in 7-10 business days, that was on August 10th and it still has not been processed it is September 15th. This happened on 4th of July. I have tried calling and every time too many callers and it says to call back later. I have requested updates and I swear they don't read what I have sent cause it just says it hasn't been turned in or processed. I'm about to get a darn lawyer because this is ridiculous!! read more

The EDD office is located on the 4th floor (i.e. Suite 400). Signage will direct you down a hallway into the main office. As you enter, make sure to sign-in and the clerk will give you a numbered ticket for your spot in the queue (there is a digital readout on the wall indicating what number is currently being helped). If you have a claim number, make sure to write it on this numbered ticket so they can help you faster. If you are visiting the EDD office in order to obtain a hardcopy SDI application you don't need to wait in the queue. They actually have a shelf with original documents just inside the door to the left (look for a pastel green bi-fold leaflet). read more
