Four years we've used Eddie is for work alterations and I are home alterations of our closing. The price is great the work is excellent and we have had no complaints with over a dozen alterations done. Eddie's has been around a while has a good reputation and is a part of Royal Oak. The cottage industry that exist there hopefully, will remain a part of our city for a great time to come. If you need any alterations done two dresses, pants, shirts and blouses, etc., Then I recommend that you at least stop by and get a quote at this excellent establishment. We have used them for five years and we will use them for five more. It's true, he is a true craftsman of threading. I read the reviews and decided to take Eddie two pair of pants, one jean and one suit. He measured and marked the pants while I wore them and gave me his opinion (too much material in the crotchal region). Before sending me on my way he gave me the bill and I was surprised at the high price (never had a single alteration done before, anywhere) but Eddie assured me that it was worth paying that price as he is doing a "major surgery" to the pants. He did them both in a day and called me up to come try them on. I was so excited I went there straight away. I know everyone else who writes a review here says this but Eddie really is a superstar! I am very skeptical about taking my clothes in to get altered or repaired...Im just worried they won't come back as the clothes I love. So I came on Yelp to find a place that had little to no bad reviews and found Eddie's Alterations. I will definitely be going back, even if I have to drive for hours, no one but Eddie is touching my hems. I took in 4 pairs of jeans to get hemmed, just a fold-up alteration (read: the cheaper hem option) at the bottom, and he was so quick at measuring them I got a little worried but when I went to pick them up today they were perfect, like I had just bought them from a store! Ive seen many a friend with the fold-up hems and they looked no where near as good as Eddie's...he even put a tan stitch line around the bottom to make them look like the original hem. I also took in a prize possession of mine: a bag I bought with a bedazzled logo from my University on it. Being a recent college grad I am very attached to this bag but it was a little too big for what I carry now so I asked Eddie if he could make it smaller, I showed him what I wanted and presto- today I picked up the best little tote bag in the world! He is a genius at what he does. Great customer service, great price ($12/pair for the jeans and $10 for the bag) and excellent alterations (not an unfinished stitch in sight!). read more

I have been going to Eddie ever since a friend recommended him 10 years ago. I recently lost a lot weight and lost 7 inches in the waist. I did not want to get rid of my expensive clothes so I took about 10 suits and 15 pairs of pants to Eddie to alter. Needless to say Eddie took care of all my needs. Most of my items had complex cuts and linings so it was not cheap but it was fairly priced for the amount of work involved. In all the years of going to Eddie I only had one item he had to taken in a little more after his initial alteration. I never had to wait more than a few days even when I brought in over 12 items! This has been my go-to place for all of my alterations since I moved to Royal Oak a little over a year ago. One of the downfalls of being short is that all of my pants/jeans need to be altered. So, as you may have read, I'm to be wed soon to the lovely Meredith R. As you may not have read, I am also in the United States Army Reserve. For my wedding, I've decided to don my high-speed class A uniform, 1. because it looks hot, and 2. it looks hot! Lol. So I had to have my newest rank sewn on the sleeve, as to look proper for the big day. I yelped, and since this place was highly ranked by two fellow Elites, I decided to give them a try. I went in, and he had me try on the coat to gather the measurements, which was fine. He seemed really professional and nice, despite his broken English. So, I asked for it to be done for pickup on a Tuesday, having dropped it off on a Thursday. Well, I ended up needing it on Monday, and I called Saturday, and it was done! I was so happy. So I went and picked it up that Saturday. I walked into the store, and he welcomed me with a friendly "Hey Greg!" He had me try on the coat again, and it looked perfect. I took it off, and said "Alright, what's the damage" to which he replied, "Don't even worry about it" I wasn't shocked, but definitely taken a-back. I said, "no no no, what do I owe you" to which he replied "you've already given enough" Well I didn't know what to say, or even think. It turns out Eddie is a veteran of the Iraqi army, and has a huge respect for American soldiers. He was telling me about when he served, and how crazy it was back then, and how happy he was here in America. Well, not only was the work on my coat perfect, but little did I know that the whole experience would leave me with a story, and perspective that I otherwise would have never known. Soooo awful. One they don't press anything...how do thy know if it is straight? Second, they got grease finger prints all over my dress, two huge oil spots on the back and water drips down the front. I should have known it wasn't clean when I walked in with food every where. When I saw the dress they refused to reimburse me. They charge so much and don't own up to anything. I've been to Eddie's twice now. The first was just for a fairly routine suit alteration, so while everything was done very well, and I was impressed by the speed with which I was measured and sent on my way despite it being a busy day, nothing really stood out. The second time was a little more complicated. I brought in some jeans for hemming and tapering. Again, I was in and out quickly, which I appreciate. But what really stood out was the taper job done on the selvedge jeans I brought in. I've had selvedge tapered in the past, and usually you lose the decorative look of the selvedge on the outseam. You can taper jeans much more easily if you don't worry about retaining that. Eddie's, however, managed to hem my jeans without destroying this decorative flair - a much harder and more time consuming operation. I'm very impressed by the attention to detail exhibited by the tailors here, and definitely will be coming back and referring others in the future. read more

this would be the 2nd time i have used eddie's to get my wife's pants fixed. both times they were easy hem? jobs. i was out in minutes! in previous posts i too was shocked at how quick they were. I thought i might have to come back later or another day. Today was special in that I took my year and a half son in with me. The woman working fell in love with him. Wow is all I can say! This is the second time Eddie has literally saved me from last minute alteration nightmares! Last time he fixed my size 10 bridesmaid dress (I was a size 0/2 at the time) and rushed it to fit me in 3 days! Today my husband tells me 3 days before a rehearsal dinner he needs his pants hemmed.
