I just had such a pleasant experience at Eddie's! I went in on a whim because I needed something done quickly and they are located near me. I had a dress with a minor hole on the seam that I didn't notice when I purchased it. The gentleman that greeted me (I assume this was Eddie himself) stopped what he was doing when I walked in, assessed the hole, fixed it in about 20 seconds and then wouldn't let me pay (he told me to have a wonderful day instead of charging me). I understand small businesses need to earn a buck but there is truly value in recognizing when it is ok not to charge a person, especially for something so simple. I have some things that need REAL alterations in the near future that will require more than 20 seconds of work and Eddie's just earned a customer. read more

These people are miracle workers. I took a bridesmaid dress there this week that was altered terribly by another tailoring shop and they reassured me over and over again that it would be okay. Eddie ripped my dress into pieces in front of me which did scare me a bit, but was only to show me how bad the previous work was done. I came in for a fitting today and the dress looks 100x better, it's not even recognizable how much better it looks. They had to remove a bone in the dress and remove an addition two inches from the first alteration, the dress fits as it should. They do amazing work here and are super fast. Eddie has on more than one occasion, mended my denim jeans and each job he completes is done with precision and great care. The best example to date stems from an experience i had wearing a pair of trousers for just over a year. Eddie is the best deal in town for alterations. He is so fast, that most of the time I drop off jeans to be hemmed with the original hem put back on and he says I can come back in 1 hour! I just go on Saturday and run to the farmers market for a few. He has even finished jeans for me immediately. I went out to the parking lot and made a 20 minute phone call and he was done! He is so nice, and so is his wife who works with him. If he asks you when you want your alterations done (depending on how complicated) you can tell him the same day or the next day if you want and he will do it. He has never made a mistake on anything I've given him either, which is really nice. I've been to plenty of tailors that have hemmed my jeans unevenly or just haphazardly sewn something I've asked to be taken in. You can definitely trust Eddie! read more

INSANELY OVERPRICED! I went here with a bridesmaid dress that needed about an inch hem at the bottom and maybe a quarter inch taken in on the straps and the guy quoted me $120!! Saying that it would be a lot of work.. I took my dress down the road to EXPRESS ALTERATIONS right on catalpa and main and she charged me $58 for the exact same job. I went in this morning with a pair of pants and a dress to be hemmed. I didn't have to try the dress on because it was just a repair to the hem. By the time I had changed in and out of my pants for hemming, the dress was done! I was shocked! I didn't understand why he was handing it back to me at first! He then said if I wanted to wait for 5 min the pants would be done. Since I'm short, I often have to have pants hemmed and I have always had to wait at least a few days to a week to get them back, so I was very impressed! However, I think it was a little pricey..... $25 for the two items. And it took him maybe 10 minutes. Not sure I'll be back. I'd rather wait and pay less. read more

Eddie's. There is no better alterations business around! He is fast like lightning. He knows how a suit should fit and he makes sure it is done to make you look perfect in it! For those who have complained about pricing, they have no idea what time and skill is necessary for a real, quality tailor to do work. His prices are reasonable for the work that is done. He altered two Michael Kors suits my son had purchased at a local store. Yes, it was pricey ($175 each, purchased for $149 each) to alter them, but they looked like $1000 suits when Eddie was done working his magic on them! They were pure perfection. Everything needed to be altered on those 2 suits. It was totally worth the money. I grew up with uncles and aunts who were tailors (great ones) and Eddie is right up there with all the skilled ones who know their craft and know it well! Bravo, Eddie for your skill and expertise! I have always been scared to get jeans altered because they never look quite right, but I had to have these jeans, and I read great reviews for Eddie's here. So I went in on a Friday at noon with my six month old daughter in tow, Eddie was so quick I had two pairs of jeans marked and I was back out the door in minutes! When I asked when I could have them back, he smiled and said "you are the one who is going to wear them when would you like them back". At five that same afternoon I had two perfectly hemmed pairs of jeans that you would never know i had altered, and for only $28!! Eddies Alterations is AWESOME ! I have been going to Eddies Alterations since the late 80's when he used to be located on 11 Mile across from McDonald's. I started going to Eddie when I was a waitress at the Ram's Horn and had to wear those "Green Pickle Dresses".....when you purchased the dresses they had an elastic waist and hung like a potato sack! I had Eddie take the elastic out and cut off the bottom area and make a waist band on the dress with that material that would now tie in the back. Eddie would then put two long darts down the back to give you a custom fit! The uniform ended up being tailored and cute and before you knew it all the other waitresses were taking their "Pickle Dress" to him and doing the same :) Since that time I have taken EVERYTHING to him to have ANYTHING done from hemming jeans to my Best Friend asking me to be her Matron of Honor and purchasing a size 14 dress that Eddie turned into my size 4.....It was gorgeous! (She bought the last dress available and wanted it that bad...but WELL WORTH it since my daughters have since used it over the years following for special occasions.) My youngest child has a fond memory of going to Eddie so much with me to have alterations that one day when she was 9 years old she actually rode her bike to Eddie with her own purchase and had him do an alteration on the article of clothing!! To this day she now is a young adult and continues to use Eddie for everything and anything she needs done. Eddie and his wife have always remembered all my children throughout the years and continuously ask about their well being. Eddie recently transformed a 90's style leather coat for my friend Honey (who is 84) into the new style coats. Honey was ecstatic about the result! Honey shopped and shopped and shopped for a new coat until I convinced her to just take it to Eddie and have him work his magic! What a beautiful perfect fit , new style, but with the great worn in leather that Honey had enjoyed and now is able to continue to enjoy with a new modern look. I got my white coat tailored here. "Fast Eddie" is fast. He quickly marked my coat with pins and gave me a quoted price. The price was too steep for me, but he was open to negotiate pricing with me. The turnaround time was lightning fast. Overall, the coat was done nicely. He did not fix the shoulders, but simply slimmed down the arms length and body length of the coat. The coat was not even steamed to take out the wrinkles. I just figured that for the price I paid, the little details such as steaming out the wrinkles would be done. I went on a Thursday and they asked when I wanted to pick up the pants. I replied tomorrow and he said ok. They were ready the next day. I don't know if it was Eddie, but he was very nice. I had a dress that I needed altered. I paid about $150 for it and he charged $225 to do the alterations. I ended up going somewhere else and regretted it afterward. You get what you pay for...
