If you didn't know, Edgar's not only strives to severe great food but they also strive to serve our community and beyond. It is part of the Edgar's Hospitality Group which has an impressive lineup of restaurants under the group. These restaurants provide hands on experiences for those working on growing their skills in the restaurant business as part of the School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts at Helms College. Edgar's offers tapas style food options. I tried several options thanks to our waiter. He had the most beautiful accent and I'm sure it helped us order more that we had planned but leftovers are always fun! My favorite were the wings. In fact, I enjoyed two orders of them. It was OK. I made reservations for 6pm on Sat. I had a finite window to work with (the boys were at the Y) The entrance is a bit weird. There's one "EAB" sign by an entrance to the building. If you're not paying attention, you'll miss the "Go to the 3rd floor" sign and I think there are like 11 floors in the building. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It was windy when we got there, so we stayed and ate indoors. I didn't really need a reservation. I guess all the St Paddy's people were still out bar hoppin or pre-gaming. They serve small plates, so it's tapas style. For starters: we ordered the "2 for 12 dips" Cauliflower Hummus & Blue Crab w/ ciabatta and vegetable crudites. The Cauliflower Hummus was bland and the Blue Crab dip was salty. Soooo, I mixed the two dips and it was pretty good. The veggies were a bit wet and slightly soggy. The carrot didn't have the crispness that I would expect from a fresh carrot. As for the entrees, the Mrs got the Piri Piri Chicken & Patatas Bravas. I sampled her potatoes and lime-cilantro rice, both were pretty good. I ordered the BBQ Brisket (16-hr smoke, chili-cheddar cornbread doughnuts, texas sauce and slaw). The brisket was good, but you only get 2 pieces. The cornbread could use a little more flavor, but it's edible. The slaw had too much tang. The onions (i think it was the onion) were too strong and overpowering. I didn't finish that. I kept seeing the Wagyu Beef Sliders being carried out, I think I'll try that next time & also venture outside to check out the Lido Deck! read more

The food was sub par. It's was good but not sure I'd go back. They only had small plates to order for dinner, the waitress forgot about us for a bit. I got the mock tail and it had a good flavor but it mostly seemed like juice. Even the ginger Ale seemed watered down. We ordered lunch for a meeting at the office (delivered by a third party). The crab dip I ordered, which was supposed to be accompanied by crudités, came with one gnarled carrot stick and three celery slices, one of which was weeks old and rotting in the container (see photo). Yes, you read that correctly -- a restaurant served me ROTTING FOOD. Their motto is "Come hungry, leave fulfilled". This horrible experience left me both hungry and full of rage. If you have to run across Broad Street to a different restaurant to grab an edible lunch, I think you can classify this as an epic fail. Also, if your kitchen cannot reach "edible" status, I would say success by any measure is not in the cards. On the upside, this has put life into perspective for me. Lately I've been worried about how to combat a mutating virus, but today I realized I should probably put as much energy into avoiding food poisoning. My main meal was the small plate of beer braised beef ribs and I absolutely loved it. The pictures I included are of Viet Cajun Mussles in a garlic butter with lime broth, these are literally to DIE FOR! The beer braised beef ribs are the perfect 1 serving portion filled with an ABUNDANCE of flavor. Yeah! I said ABUNDANCE. The short ribs are paired with candied sweet potatoes, the beef with a parsnip puree and garnished with pistachios. Absolutely mouth watering and PALETTE SEDUCING on all levels of satisfaction. Absolutely horrible! Went and the environment is cool I guess, pretty basic for a rooftop patio bar. The drinks were mediocre. My drink blueberry splash taste like straight soda. The food is disgusting we had the Thai curry mussels. The mussels were slimy, cold, and the curry had no flavor. I asked for hot sauce and they had no Tabasco, Texas pete, sriracha. The only had some Georgia peach hot sauce and some habanero sauce. Which is ridiculous how dont you have basic condiments like hot sauce. read more

I met my friend here on a weekday to celebrate her birthday. We made reservations but I don't think that is really needed right now (either due to Covid or it being a weekday). We arrived early at around 5:00pm and it was quiet, but filled up soon after. The furniture didn't quite seem to fit the lighting and bar, and the outside was a bit closed in because of the cooler weather. I would like to come back and check the place out in the bright summer because it looked cool. The food was great. It is served on small plates kind of tapas style, so be prepared for the amount that comes out. Based on the portion sizing and cost, it could be a bit pricey. My friend and I shared everything so the price was manageable. The scallops were perfectly done, and the cheese grits were done very well too. I enjoyed that dish. The beef sliders I was less impressed with because they seemed a little dry to me. There was something about the chips that came with this dish...they were soooo good! We got the patatas bravas too because who turns down carbs and they were delightful. I did not enjoy the pumpkin spice creme brûlée...I think that was the name? I am not a huge fan of holiday spice, and I think that is more my palate than the dish itself. The texture of the brûlée was outstanding - crispy sugar top and smooth creamy custard. The gingersnap cookie in this dessert was a nice touch. Now let's talk about this apple hand pie. Y'all. Y'ALL. If you like apples, flaky pastries, or à la mode at all...go get into this dish right now. That hand pie is a winner. Also our server Roland was the best! read more

What better way to experience a new restaurant than having the whole place to yourself. I had the privilege of dining during their new breakfast, lunch, brunch hours. The location is absolutely perfect. Honestly the venue reminds me of a few of my favorite restaurants in Austin, TX. The menu provides a nice variety of breakfast, lunch, and appetizers. The rooftop area is spectacular. It's not too high and offers a wonderful view of downtown Augusta. The staff is five stars all the way around. My gracious server told us the fascinating story of Edgar Helm and his mission to educate, employ, and provide opportunities in the CSRA area. I was truly intrigued learning the dynamics of Edgar's Above Broad, Goodwill, Edgar's Grill, and Helm's College. Great space for a restaurant, you can sit indoors, outdoors, listen to live bands play giant checkers or just people watch. I got the mussels - The mussel sauce was very tasty and the portion was very big. However they overcooked them, so I ended up with small rubbery mussel meat... They served them in a large bowl but gave me a tiny plate to put my shells (only able to fit 4 shells on it) - Where did they think I was going to put all the mussel shells from such a large bowl??? They should have given me a bowl of the same size to discard my shells. Drama Drama Drama - the staff is very unprofessional and there is whispering glaring and dirty looks between the staff, obviously talking about other staff members... Keep it in the kitchen and out of the dining area... I don't want to see one waiter do something and the bartender roll their eyes in disgust... I don't want to hype this place up, and yet I do. Listen I've been to Nashville. There's a standard set when it comes to rooftop bars/restaurants. Gorgeous view, quality menu (food and cocktails), a full bar that truly is full (i.e. the bourbon offerings aren't single digits), live music, a team that makes you feel like you're seated out on your back porch, and throw in a couple of games just for kicks (can you say massive checkerboard?). Cue Edgar's Above Broad. I attended the soft opening, but as I soon found out there is nothing featherweight about this place. The entrance is a photo op waiting to happen, the indoor seating is a mix of fine dining and business casual, but the coup de grâce is the outdoor seating. There is the covered patio area (for when it's sunny or raining), with the full bar to your right. As you continue walking, you see the checkerboard straight ahead and the bocce ball court to your left. Least you wonder where you'll set down your order, fret not. Standing tables, lounge and Adirondack chairs, as well as picnic tables all await. Oh, if the main bar is full just continue to the old school airstream...because it's a bar too! But enough about the atmosphere (though I will mention that a local jazz ensemble was performing that night-could have stayed for hours). The menu is what I would call Southern with a flair. You'll find Cajun boiled peanuts, shrimp and grits, and down home desserts calling your name. If I had to mention one item that stood out (though I haven't tried it yet) it would be the pork belly nachos. A nearby table apparently ordered it and it took everything in me not to take a picture. It will be on my list when I visit next. The back of the menu is the bar list. Wines to gins, bourbons to whiskeys, beers to mocktails, they have you covered. Drafts, cans, cocktails are there as well. So if you're looking for a place to eat, grab a drink, have a fun time, take in the sunset, or all of the above you now know where to go. I attended a soft opening showcasing the place to Pinnacle Club Members. They offered a small selection of their signature cocktails, small bites of delicious food, and live music. It was an intimate showcase of everything that Edgar's now offers. The atmosphere is great for friends celebrating, a family outing, or a business lunch. It's intimate, lighthearted, and fun! I can't speak on the food as much, as I've only had the food offered at the soft opening, but I will say that what I did have was perfect! This is the place you take a date that you like. This is the place you take your friends from out of town. To me, this place embodies Augusta. A collaboration between the Pinnacle Club and Helms College, Edgar's Above Broad has nailed it. Art Deco vibe decor, amazing outdoor space with an Air Stream camper as a bar. Adult games like giant checkers and corn hole with regular live music. For dinner we had the patatas bravas, nachos, and sliders. We really wanted to do the skirt steak too- but we will get it next time! Food was very good!! We did the donuts for dessert, and were disappointed that it only came with two donuts! Finally made it to this newer eatery in Augusta. It has a nice setting outside. We had reservations for 6pm for my birthday dinner. We had a nice seat under the awning. Perfect evening to partake in some pretty food tasting tapas. We ordered alot. We had the shrimp with picked onions & okra(pretty good with flavor), scallops with grits(so so good) tuna tartar(not bad it's made with avocado) oysters on a half shell(can't mess up that. The migionette was delicious) I ordered the wagyu beef sliders...sadly not very tasty..I mean perfectly cooked but lacked flavor. I had asked our amazing server Rose if the chef could put goat cheese on it..guess not but that probably could have helped with the overall flavor....we also ordered the trio of sips...blue crab,hummus,& guacamole...my overall favorite was the blue crab..thanks Rose for the suggestion. Service was great. I do suggest that they could make a small dance area for slow dances(a song came on & it was perfect moment to dance) lol Also maybe an outdoor pool table. Good fun on a good day/night. I read about the bar a while ago and came here today finally. The rooftop is really pretty and relaxing. Though we had to sit inside, the bar is still structured like an inside/outside bar. So you still get the breeze. We had live harp tonight. The artist was wonderful. Now talk about food and drink. Everything perfect and delicious. The portion size is right for bar food. Don't let it fool you, it's not your typical bar food. How many bars serve Wagyu sliders? Really well made food and drinks. This is a great concept for a restaurant. I love that students are working there and that the menu shifts from time to time. My visit was a bit later in the evening and I sat at the far side of the bar. It definitely felt like I was in the corner. The staff was having a good time interacting with one another and especially the guests on the patio. Unfortunately, I felt like a bit of an after thought. I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed my food. The oysters on the half were fresh and flavorful and the sauces served with them were a great complement. I just don't get it. It's been an entire year since I was here last and they still have the same issues. I had previously thought it was a fluke or a response to coming back from the pandemic. But sadly no, not the case. The location is amazing. The rooftop is gorgeous--bocce ball, giant checkers, cornhole and live music. They offer a variety of outside dining to include reserved tables, open picnic table seating, Adirondack chairs, etc. The issue is the staff. While our waitress was friendly, she's just not on top of her game. Nor was the other waitress serving the table immediately to my right and directly behind me. While we did get everything we ordered (both drinks and shared plates) the poor tables behind us didn't receive several of the small plates they had ordered and asked them to be removed from the bill. The other family never received ANY of the food they ordered after 20-30 minutes of waiting and decided to cash out immediately to just cover their one round of drinks. To be specific, this was a two top and a three top so it wasn't like they had ordered massive amounts of food. This scenario is what happened to us during our last visit as well. We heard our waitress and the other apologize for "the kitchen being backed up" or "the bar being backed up." I'm just not sure what the cause of the problem is or if it's really just a multitude of things. It's really such a mood killer and I hope they figure it out because it's such a lovely space!! read more

We had a party of 6 celebrating 2 birthdays and she handled it with ease. The atmosphere is great and the drink choices are fantastic but if you're going for a robust menu then you won't find that. I am glad to see a roof top bar and restaurant in the Augusta area. Edgar's is a hip, kinda surreal area with modern and art deco vibes. The airstream of the roof was really a cool eclectic sight. It's a visual eyegasm. The food is beyond terrific. I was amazed at the quality, not the quantity as the portions are small. Reminded me more of tapas than entrees but in this kinda atmosphere it just works. The drinks are swanky as well, the bar is stocked and ready to serve up your favorite libations. We sat inside near the entrance and that was the only mistake we made. The constant influx of people brushing against you is very annoying. I just couldn't understand why people can't learn to side step. In my opinion the only reason to stay inside is inclement weather. Go outside and enjoy the views from one of the hippest places in town. Don't procrastinate, just go.......enjoy! read more

This place was great! I went with my sister on the 2nd night they were open. We started with a couple of cocktails . I had "Background Noise," their DELICIOUS version of an Old Fashioned. My sister had "No Big Dill" which she enjoyed. We both loved the "Skyline" cocktail.Its a tapas restaurant with amazing roasted scallops, red snapper ceviche, and the dips (we had the crab dip and smoked eggplant) were off the chain. We also had the nachos which weren't great, but still tasty. Our server Britt was awesome! She was very friendly and genuine. You can tell she loves working there. The manager Eli was great too. I saw him bussing tables, getting refills and supporting his staff. Then we had a few rousing games of Bocce which was a blast! Overall a great experience! It was my first time there with a couple friends of mine. I ordered a Moscow mule and it was such a strong lime flavor that the bartender noticed I didn't like it. She remade it, but the flavor was still so unpleasant that I didn't drink it. I don't know what it was made with, but it didn't taste like a traditional Moscow mule to me. $11 plus a tip for it. In all fairness, the bartender tried to make me happy, which I appreciated. My friend didn't finish her drink either. On the plus side, they had plenty of heating outside and playing corn hole was fun! I don't think I will be back though. read more

We went here for a little midweek date night and I will say the vibe of the restaurant is awesome! The wait staff were also really good. Our drinks were perfect and I must mention they have a pretty robust drink menu. But the food was meh at best. The nachos were good, but for me the meat on them were a no go. The pork belly was very sweet and not my favorite but the rest of it was really good. It had freshly made pork rinds and I delicious cheese sauce on them honestly the best thing I had. The ceviche was weird. Very oniony and the "shrimp crackling" is just disgusting. Firstly the name is misleading, it's not a crackling it's like a shrimp met a rice cake and became a baby taco-adjacent shell. The picture will really put into perspective what I'm saying. But if you remove that shell even with the heavy onion flavor it's not bad, but it's also not $15 good. I ended up eating it with my chips from the nachos and it was definitely better. We had two dips the Gouda pimento and hummus both were meh. They weren't really good or really bad just pretty regular. Finally we had a poke poke bowl. Would recommend getting it maybe with the dressing on the side, if possible, because again it adds a strange flavor to the food. In the end despite the mediocre food I would highly recommend checking this place out we had a great time and the rooftop patio is pretty amazing. read more
