I come every now & again with a friend whom frequents here a lot and has for a lil minute now. at first i thought man this is the perfectly location for me, the vibe was great, the locals of the bar are amazing, the crowd pretty much stays the same, the drinks are affordable. however some time last week or so we had an absolutely terrible event take place that was jus shocking and made me a bit angry! This bar tender (white man, older, long salt & pepper colored greasey hair, not tall not short, with a plumper build in the waist) comes out to the patio with a bar receipt and pen in his hand askn loudly to my friend if hed done some thing wrong to her or whats goin on and she looked puzzled and replied no why he then shakes his hand at her and she said as she realized it was her drink receipt naw bby u kno i got u always im jus payn wit card tonight not cash i was gonna tip u once i was done for the nite. ( mind u we hadnt lit a cigarette or took a sip of our drink yet & had the whole patio lookn at us and everyone was in silence by now ) The rude man turns slings the door open muttering well if u do or dont ill be jus fine! Then someone said he was drunk, cant tend bar or handle ur poison dont drink! Then had a discussion about it inside the bar again for some reason but it back fired cause damn near the entire bar walked out and left due to the rudeness and unprofessional conduct presented by the bar tender! Im not so sure id return! No customer should be harrased or made to feel obliged to tip after jus walking into a place and who knows she could of tip'd him a $50 or $100 by nites end but he will never know now! And they say hes been a problem for a while now and costing the bar customers which is money! read more

This bar makes a very good drink for a great price. Most of the bartenders are nice and engaging and will remember you the more often that you come in. I will attempt that since Lisa left I have been going less but that's just because she walks provided great conversation and new drink ideas so I would only go On the days she worked. read more

I came to Edge Inn on a dive bar crawl we were having. This is one of those places I have driven by 1,000 times. It is right when you get on the highway taunting you to come in with it's old school liquor sign. There are no windows and this place is as dark and dingy as it gets. There was a mix of people in here everyone from old vets, to middle age dudes, to some service industry folk just getting off work for the night. The electric mix of people made for a fantastic night of people watching. The bartenders were as friendly as can be and made us feel right at home. I ordered up a Heineken on draft and it was $3 bucks. My friend order a Makers neat and it was only $3 too! This has got to be one of the cheapest bars in Cincinnati. I also fell in love with the electronic dartboard! It sucked that this bar was cash only and you have to pay to play darts, but we had such a blast. I am definitely going to add this bar to my "bars where it's okay to go in Yoga pants" list. If you haven't been I highly recommend it! read more

Last night I found myself overburdened with the temptation of the flickowing neon light. The Edge Inn is as inviting as a strip club. The three head high exterior windows are covered with heavy green curtains that could blot out the brightest sun, the entry is a solid steel door, and the wall is mirrored. This is my kind of place. The kind of place where you can hole up during a zombie apocolypse. Now don't get me wrong, I love almost everything about this place. I love the tylenol shaped central island bar; the cracked ACT on the ceiling stuffed with tickets, business, and postcards; the used-to-be-pretty bartender; almost everything. I could maybe do without the rancid barf chips smell that permeates the place, but maybe that was just an isolated instance. Otherwise, I think this is my new favorite dive. read more

Hello Dive. It really is just hard to rate dives that you're not a regular at, but still... I've had better. It's cash only... but they have a credit card machine that you use as an ATM that prints out a receipt and the bartender gives you cash - it makes no sense... just put the machine behind the counter. Anyway... the bartender was super friendly and it seemed like they had a good crowd of regulars. It is VERY dark inside. The bar is kind of cool - big wrap around with lots of seating then just a few tables off to the side. There is a back patio/parking area too for all you smokers. I wish I could take elements of the pilot inn and edge inn and make them into one perfect dive bar (see my pilot inn review as well). I think this review can be summed up nicely with a classic pro con list. Pros: VERY cheap drinks (we ordered a draft IPA, whiskey sour, and two crown and cokes. Total was $14. What?!?), the cheap drinks also tasted good, classic dive bar feel, regulars make it extra fun (lots of singing and laughter), dart board and fun mini golf game, juke box that you can pay to play songs, and the bartender was so friendly Cons: Truly my only con is that it's cash only! There is a credit card machine that you can swipe your card and select $10, $20, $30, or $40 and it'll print a receipt that you show the bartender rather than give you actual cash. Very strange system so I would just recommend bringing cash. Other than the cash only aspect, I loved this bar! Would absolutely come back! read more

Cash only! It was actually less divey inside than I expected. The bartendress was really nice and speedy. We played darts on an electronic dartboard that doesn't work, so we kept score on the wall. It's a small place and was fairly busy for a Thursday night, but a great place to grab a cheap beer. read more

Best dive bar in town. A friendly, welcoming atmosphere that attracts an eclectic, fun crowd. The drinks are dirt cheap and $20 goes a long way in this place (don't forget to bring cash!!). This place is a bit rough in appearance. Very dark inside. If your looking for cheap beer, this might be your place. Domestics are $2. The place is cash only. They have a shady looking "ATM" in the corner of the bar but I'd just bring cash. I was there on a Tuesday night so I can't really comment on the crowd. It's definitely in the dive bar category. Aside from regular bar nights, this has been a traditional night before thanksgiving stop for my friends and I for years. There is always a good sized crowd, some regulars and some just stopping in. Drinks are cheap (cash only!!) and generously poured. The bartenders are always friendly and quick. Music plays from the jukebox and the boys enjoy playing the video game in front. Definitely one of the better dive bars. read more

This place is hilarious. True alcoholics go there almost every night, and they are more than enough entertainment. Literally bought 2 bud lights and 2 shots of 1800 for $8.50. This tavern is just ok. The service is poor. A few coworkers recently visited and was openly discriminated against. When she spoke up about it was asked to leave. They lost the service of about 20 professionals that day. It's too bad. read more

I have worked hard to be a respectable citizen of the city of Cincinnati. I have worked even harder to provide the highest respect and support to the citizens of the city of Cincinnati. After accomplishing a very big personal/professional task I went to celebrate at the edge inn tavern and was met with an unbelievable amount of disrespect and rudeness. While the parking was already dismal, I pulled in to park in front of a friend of mine, who met me to celebrate my accomplishments, the owner, Joe, preceded to tell me that he would not serve me nor would he serve either of my friends because of his discrimination against us. While I may not represent the majority population I as well as my friend work for an extremely reputable organization within Cincinnati and we had more than enough money to spend to celebrate my success. We were in no way rude or disrespectful yet we were met with such. I am deeply hurt by the atmosphere we were met with tonight. When I was expecting to celebrate a success instead I was left to be disgusted by retrograde. Therefore I can in no way recommend this bar to any Patron and I plead that no one spend their hard earned money in this establishment. read more

Owner is an old rude dude that had a problem with the way we parked and instead of speaking to us as an adult he singles us out stating we wouldn't be served because of the manner we parked. The Fabulous Edge Inn. It is situated on 'the edge' of Norwood, and Oakley; on Edwards Rd. A stone's throw from the Rookwood Pavilion. Once again voted CINCINNATI MAGAZINE'S "Best Dive Bar". It is everything you want in a neighborhood watering hole. A good liquor pour for a fair price, cold long-neck beers for a buck-fifty during Happy hour, and the prettiest lineup of barmaids in town. Allie, Shelley, Lisa and the others are quick to serve you with a genuinely friendly and gorgeous smile. Definitely easy to look at, if you know what I mean. The interior is slightly on the dark side. Which goes back a couple decades when the previous owner kept a low lit 'night club' ambiance in the Edge. There is plenty of light from the pinball machine, dart board, golf game and the juke box. One unique thing is the Edge Inn Christmas tree, which stands all year as a reminder of donations to Tender Mercies Foundation, which provides shelter for the mentally handicapped, homeless people in the Over-the-Rhine area. Tender Mercies is the pet charity of the Edge Inn. The original founder of Tender Mercies is a regular patron of the Edge, and a lifelong friend of Joe Doud, proprietor of the Edge Inn. The annual Edge Inn Chili Cookoff, held on the first Sunday after the Super Bowl, is a major event with chili-heads from all over town vying for the title of best of the best. This year's competition raised a $1000 for Tender Mercies. The patrons are a diverse, eclectic cross section of the Oakley/Norwood/Hyde Park area. From politicians to painters, city council members to retirees and retired military; the conversation ranges from meat loaf recipes to sports, and which higher school is best to undersea warfare. Anyone can feel free to join in the discussion. With nicknames like 'Whisky', Piglet', 'Irish' , you can see it's a local friendly neighborhood bar. Best dive bar in cincinnati (actually Norwood. Not Newtown). Happy hour every day 1:00 - 7:00. $1.00 drafts, $1.40 domestic beers,most shots $2.00 - 3.00.
