The phrase "don't judge a book by its cover" applies to bars as well! I've driven past The Pilot Inn many times as I spend a lot of time in Rookwood. I never even knew this place was a bar but one day my friends and I decided to go dive bar hopping on a Sunday afternoon. I was there again just recently to expand the knowledge of this place to another friend. The Pilot Inn is much better than what if expect of dive bars, but with all the feels of a dive bar. From the patio furniture chairs and cheap drinks (but still quality) to the chips on the wall, you get a whole new experience. You will average $4-6 for most mixed drinks on any given night. They also have a few TV screens to watch sports games so you can come drink and enjoy for 1/2 the cost at other bars on game day. A great little neighborhood dive bar if you're looking to get away from your typical bar scene. The staff is also friendly for the most part (though some look cranky at times) and the crowd not as rowdy. They also take CC and aren't cash only. I've not tried their food so that's what I'll have to do next. The only thing I do wish for would be the kitchen to be open at night (vs. lunchtime only) for those late night munchies after a day of drinking, but next time I'll need to ask if we can just have food delivered and I'd be set!

The Pilot Inn! I finally found you! Last night after a Yelp elite event a bunch of us wondered over here. From the outside the Pilot Inn doesn't look like much, but this is a great neighborhood tavern. The bartender was very friendly and who knew they have been open since 1937?! They have a great happy hour from 3-7pm daily and they also serve food, but only during the day. I think she said they are our a night cook for right now. They have an insane amount of candy bars on the wall, and there is a nice choice of chips and popcorn as well. The drinks are cheap, and the people are friendly this is a great stop on a neighborhood dive crawl.

I stopped in to check out this establishment after being invited out from my Twitter account. It is a nice little quaint place and for me a throwback to days of the past. I ended up grabbing some lunch and a beer on my visit. The burger wasn't bad and I went back in time to have a Little Kings beer. Now, I am usually a craft beer guy which they did have a few, but the price point was higher than it should be. $5 for a can of craft beer is pushing it a little for a place that really is just a neighborhood tavern. But if you like domestic beers then this may be a place for you as they offer $1.75 longnecks I believe as their special. There also was a pool table in the back if you like to play a little billiards.

    There have a generous selection.

We had a large party, and our waiter, Lil D, didn't miss a beat. He was super friendly, attentive, and always seemed to be right there whenever we needed something. The cars that move around on the ceiling are currently down while they're being repainted, but that's always one of our favorite features when we visit. Our food came out hot and delicious. The Jiffy Burger is one of my favorites! I always ask for the peanut butter on the side because they tend to be a little generous with it on the burger. They also sang for our birthday girl and brought her a complimentary bowl of ice cream, which was a fun touch. The only suggestion I'd make is to skip the extremely loud horn sound when someone at the bar leaves a tip or when the staff comes out to sing for birthdays. It's really loud and can be pretty distracting. We also love the fun car-themed sinks in the bathrooms and the automotive-themed napkin holders and food wraps. They have a cute selection of swag, too, including T-shirts, cups, hats, and more. We'll definitely be back!

I found myself halfway through the signature burger, marveling at the assembly--not a bolt out of place, everything in its proper station and the lettuce crisp as a cold-rolled steel sheet. A man appreciates a system that functions without chatter or delay. Sitting here near the assembly plant's ghost, I couldn't help but admire the vintage fittings; they've managed to capture the spirit of progress without the clutter of modern inefficiency. My wife has a constitution that demands specific care, and the server handled her requirements with the precision of a master machinist, wasting no time on unnecessary pleasantries but delivering exactly what was ordered. The restrooms, surprisingly, have a sense of humor, though humor is a luxury I generally leave to the salesmen. It is a good price for an honest meal, constructed with a respect for speed that would make a production line foreman nod in approval. It is a well-oiled operation and I shall return to see if they can maintain this level of output." And normal: From the moment i stepped in... the atmosphere hit me like a wave. It was a perfect blend of vintage charm and modern sophistication with antiques that told stories of a bygone era. The restrooms while quirky, added a unique touch to the experience. What truly stood out was the service. It was swift and efficient, with our server going above and beyond to accommodate my wife's allergies. Grant our server did amazing job ! I ordered the Ford signature burger, and it was an absolute masterpiece. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the quality was exceptional. The presentation was top-notch, and the speed at which it arrived was impressive. This was one of the best burgers I've ever had, and i couldn't be more satisfied with my dining experience. Overall, Ford's Garage is a must-visit for anyone looking for a high-quality, efficient, and enjoyable meal. The prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is truly special. i highly recommend this place to anyone who loves food and wants to experience a unique dining experience. - Atmosphere: 9/10 - Food Quality: 9/10 - Service/Flow: 10/10 - Value: 8/10 - Would Return: Yes. One of my friends loved the Bolo, which looked really good. Bread would have been a nice addition to this pasta dish. Another had the mac & cheese appetizer with chicken added. It also looked really good. I had the poutine as pictured, which was decent but would have benefited from more meat sauce and additional cheese curds. It was dry and they forgot the parsley. Sammi, our server, did bring me a small dish of additional sauce when asked. I love poutine, but would not order this again for reasons mentioned. Overall, the food was good, however, they charged $10 each for draft beer, including the house TOB beer! This was shocking to see on our receipts and is much higher than draft beer in some big cities. They do have a huge selection, but this seems at least a couple of dollars over the top. Our server, Sammi, did a great job, which we appreciated.

I ordered the waffle & chicken as always, but it unfortunately came out a bit tough and dry, which was a repeat last couple time, so I'm a bit disappointing. As for the coffee, the taste was okay, but the presentation was lacking; it didn't look very appetizing when it arrived at the table. It's a cool spot with a great vibe, but I really hope they work on their food quality control a bit more. I'd be willing to give it another shot for the service alone, but the kitchen needs to be a bit more consistent!

Let me just say there's a reason they've been here so long. They keep their restaurant clean, the staff is so pleasant, immediate service and the food is even better than I remember. Our server was Elly-so sorry if I misspelled your name sweetie! Lol Elly was adorable, funny, kind, very caring-all the good adjectives-and a UC student to boot! We thoroughly enjoyed her personality and service! She told us she was new there and let me say she might have been new but seemed like a seasoned pro! I ordered the Cobb salad and asked for light blue cheese and ranch instead of vinaigrette and Elly was so thoughtful and brought the cheese on the side so I could add what I want. It did not disappoint! Everything was fresh! The eggs were boiled perfectly! The chicken was flavorful and tender! Hubby got the Sunday special which was Chicken Pesto Pasta with the most delicious garlic bread! (I tasted it ) He normally never eats the bread that comes with meals but after tasting it he gobbled it down. Bummer-I would have gladly eaten it for him He loved the dish too and said it was delicious and tasted very flavorful, not salty at all. The couple we went with ordered Fish and Chips (substituted regular fries for sweet potato fries) and he loved every bite. He said the Cod was perfectly cooked, moist and flaky on the inside and had a crispy crunch on the outside. He loved whatever seasoning was on his fries. It looked like it might have been fresh finely chopped parsley with something else but he said it was very flavorful and added a nice touch. His wife got the Sunday special as well with a gluten bun instead of the garlic bread. She loved her meal. We couldn't go without getting some cheesecake to go for later! Sometimes the old restaurants that have been a favorite and a neighborhood staple need a shout out and recognized for their food, service and dedication to their customers. I will be adding them into my routine stops going forward!

Just not flavorful at all. Everyone else's was just okay as well. So for two of us with one having a Pepsi and a small dessert to share between the two of us, it was $50 before tip. Yeah it didn't really feel like a $60 meal to me. Probably would just rather go to Ford's garage next time. Big bummer as I really wanted this to work out!
