Update-The next couple of days since the PT appointment and I am in even worse pain than before going to this place. I am having more issues and just extremely upset for not trusting my gut in the first place. I wish I never went here. Now I just need pray what the PT did is not permanent.

The 1st office said they charged hospital rates, $459/45 mins. Not even kidding. The 2nd office wouldn't give me a clue about prices until my 1st appt and wouldn't schedule me until they had a referral in hand. Ascend PT gave me a price up front, said they'd start me without a referral and they squeezed me into their calendar. My healing process will be slow, but I'm really happy with my PT's (Ryan) expert hands. Everyone in the office is very nice and easy to work with.

The therapy provided to treat the neuropathy in my right hand (which causes it too feel like it is immersed in a bucket of boiling water) was effective. My complaint is with the business practices they follow. Six months after the initial treatment the symptoms started to reoccur (in a much milder form). My insurance had changed and Dynamic Physical Therapy (DPT) was no longer in network. My insurance would pay a non-network provider based on Medicare approved rates. DPT simply had to bill them. They refused to do so and told me that I would need to self-pay and then deal with being reimbursed by my insurance company without their assistance. I chose not to seek treatment with them. DPT is again in-network with my current insurance. The symptoms have started to reoccur. Wanting to start therapy as soon as possible to avoid them becoming worse (having my hand feel like it is in a bucket of boiling water is an experience I do not wish to repeat), I made an appoinment and printed out the referral I received from my healthcare provider's web site because my Primary Care Provider had neglected to send an electronic copy to DPT. I offered to self-pay, if the referral was not received in time. Yesterday, I received a call from DPT telling me they had cancelled my appoinment because they would only except a referral received directly from a healthcare provider. In addition, they would not accept self-pay because they were in-network with my insurance company.

Today was my first visit to Select Physical Therapy and I'm completely impressed. Jason was…read moreamazing! He massaged aching muscles in a way that made me SO much more relaxed than when I arrived. I've been to other physical therapist but Jason really took the time to get to know me. I've had two surgeries on my neck so my issues are focused on the neck, shoulders and back. Jason didn't just tell me how to stretch, but he helped me through the stretches. He helped push my body in ways that released tension in places I didn't even realized needed that stretch. All in all, I felt great when I left and have appointments booked for the next two weeks. At times I had extreme difficulty even walking. Drugs did not help much. Finally I found Total Function Physical Therapy in October and got set up with Martin. After 9 sessions I am totally free of those pains and can even shovel snow again. Martin tried different techniques and gave me homework to do. I do believe that doing the stretches and exercises at home made the difference between success and failure. Martin knows what to do but it is up to the patient to follow thru at home. I'm a big tennis buff and not being able to extend my arm straight above my head can be a problem in tennis (especially serving). Anyway, I started out here a few weeks ago and got to work with Matt and Gary (sp?). The facility is really nice - recently decorated/remodeled with some great artwork murals around the room. They have all the latest rehab equipment and have pain killers and ice ready for you when you are all done. Matt and Gary have been awesome! Both work with me every step of the way but also have the sense to know when I just want to get to work. I will say everyone has been friendly here and I would recommend it highly to all my friends or even acquaintances for great health care. They are both analytical and adaptive in their approach to helping individuals; if an approach does not seem to be working, they continually modify the individual's program until optimal results are attained. I developed Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) also commonly referred to as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) shortly after undergoing hip arthoscopy. The RSD presented quite a challenge during the course of my post-op rehabilitation, however, Ken continually adapted my program, trying every modality of therapy available to him, in order to not only achieve a significant reduction in my pain and RSD symptoms but also to rehabilitate my hip so that I could return to running. Another thing I really appreciated and believe contributed to my successful rehabilitation was that I was always encouraged to be an active participant in my rehabilitation and was provided with the tools/knowledge to do so. I would highly recommend Peak Physical Therapy to anyone in need of physical therapy and should the need ever arise again in the future, I plan to return to their clinic.
