Not sure what this persons deal is. We called him to request a quote and he replied by text, "I am free, we service your area, let me know". Since he didn't offer his availability, we let him know we were free the next day. We did not demand to be seen, it's just the soonest we were free. He proceeded to state, "are you from out of town?", "I can't just jump up and run over there!", and, "it's not like a restaurant". Then he stated his price per foot and finished off with "you'll see, you'll find out", as if we will regret not going with him. We WERE very interested in using him, which is why we offered the next day. If he's that busy, he could have just said so. Too bad. We had a loose stretch of the gutter for some time that would clang against the house when the wind blew. It was never too much of an issue. But consistent heavy winds knocked it around, ruining a night of sleep for me and my wife, and it was clearly at risk of blowing off (the total stretch was probably 60 feet and I didn't' want that flying through my neighborhood!). I found Tom through Yelp. He was the first person I called and the only gutter repair guy who answered. I told him our problem, and he was honest about being nervous with the gutter being on the second floor and persistent wind gusts around 30mph. But he'd still come to check it out. Tom is the best! Because of the heavy rain these days, my gutter was crooked. I called other rain gutter service and explained what was happening. They estimated like several hundred dollars. They refused to come to look at it, either. They knew it wasn't an expensive job. I called Tom and he came immediately to see it. He said, "You don't even have to replace it. It is a simple job. I will fix it tomorrow. Maybe $30 will be enough." They came early in the next morning. They knew it was a busy morning for everyone. They didn't even ring the bell. When I came out like 20 mins later, they were gone. The job was done perfectly already. They cleaned up all the fallen leaves and dirts inside the gutter. After several heavy rainy days, there has been no more issue. He said he would come to get the payment later when he comes by. Two week from then, no calls. I had to call them to beg to get my money. Haha. I felt bad I had paid nothing to the nice work. Tom said he was just busy with other big works. So I will send a check to them. Basically he just helped out his neighbor. Recently, I had my 70 yr. old house sand blasted and restuccoed and it came out looking brand new. The owner of the company recommended rain gutters all around the house and separate garage, to avoid splashback damage to the lower part of the stucco Always wanting multiple bids. I contacted 2 local 5 star gutter installers. Both bids came in and I was shocked at the difference. I won't say the amount, but the spread was just under... wait for it.. 300%!!!!
