My car had a flat tire yesterday.. I called this place to order new tire,so I could replace the following day. It was nearing closing time, but the person who answered the phone asked me to come over, so he could take a look. He stayed open beyond his closing time to see if he could fix my tire or order a new one. The tire needed to be replaced. First of all, Alana is my screen name, as many people have on here so of course they couldn't find it in their records. Second of all, I did NOT dispute paying, but I wanted to pay the price they quoted me in the phone, not the new higher one they suddenly raised when i went to retrieve the cars. Third of all, they are lying when they said I was yelling & cursing - they just said that to make themselves look even better. I do NOT curse - I have better manners than that & I was not yelling. They did not "invite" me outside - another lie - I went there myself to see if my key was in the car as some repair shops keep it under the mat. It was me who called the police when they refused to give me the key to my car as I had a flight to make & didn't have time to stand there & argue with them - it was unexpected as I didn't think when I arrived there there would be a problem with them lying to me - I thought that they were a reputable place, thus the police suggested that I pay the bill & then dispute it with my credit card company which I did. Also. they never did any repairs on my cars & I still have the bills with all O's across from all of the trumped up repair charges they put on there so they lied about that also saying I didn't want to pay for it. Bottom line is they lied to me with hundreds of dollars worth of repairs that the cars didn't need. They did need some minor ones - yet that was all. Again, there are many places that will DIAGNOSE YOUR CAR FOR FREE - no matter the age. One of them is: Robbins & Frankie Tires & Auto Repair in Cliffside Park, NJ - about 8 minutes away from this place. They are honest & give fair prices & don't try to rip you off like this place. There are lots of other auto repair station around who will also diagnose for FREE & not charge you over $464 just to diagnose 2 cars - & then even worse, lie to you about the repairs that have to be made so they could rip you off for some more money. read more

Stay away from Edgewater Motors! Classic bait and switch. These guys do not have an honest bone in their bodies, especially the owner. And, if you're a woman it's even worse. They give you an overpriced quote and then say they will give you a deal, do the work, and charge you more than the overpriced quote. Not only that, they gave me a bunk battery for $250, which died 6 mos later and gave me all kinds of hassle about getting the warranty that I was entitled to. Even worse, they said my problem was the starter and that it would be $450. I got a 2nd and 3rd opinion, and all the other mechanics said it was the battery. These guys are straight out misogynist liars and thieves. This wasn't the only incident that they did a bait and switch on me, and attempted thievery, but I have no more energy to give to these people. Believe the negative reviews here and save yourself from grief. They will be getting a call from the better business bureau very soon. In my reply to them on this thread, I stick to my review above. My car is running just fine now. Why? Because I changed the battery. There is nothing wrong with my starter, and there never was. These mechanics lie and steal. Even though I could have fought with them yet again, and gotten a new battery from my warranty, I decided to pay another mechanic $175 for a brand new one. It was worth saving myself from these crooked mechanics lying, hassling, and doing who knows what to my car in order to make a buck! Stay away! read more

Altin, the manager, provided good details on the buffing pricing inquiry I had and it was reasonable and professional estimate, which I gave me a good impression. I have had aftermarket grille and spoiler in mind but could not have been able to find one I like. I decided to give a shot this time and requested pricing on installments. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I started hearing a noise from underneath the car (loud exhaust noise). So I brought the car to Edgewater Motors, because I had previously been there. The first visit was for a last minute battery before a trip. They swapped out the battery quickly while we ate at Brownstone. By the time our meal was over, the car was done and we were on our way. Quick and easy, so I visited again for the exhaust noise. They put the car on the lift and had two mechanics underneath listening to the noise. The told me the catalytic converter was OK but everything after that needed to be replaced, essentially a new rear muffler system. They quoted me $600 (if I pay cash to avoid taxes) and he could have the part ordered soon. I didn't want to pay that much for a little noise, but after hearing it gradually get louder over the last year, I figured I would just get it out of the way. They told me they would need a $300 deposit because the part was expensive. I asked them to check the car for any other issues before ordering the part and beginning the work on the muffler. The car is '08 Altima with 120,000+ miles; not new, but not that old, especially for a Japanese car that has had routine maintenance. They said they would put it back on the lift and perform a full diagnostic test. I swiped my credit card for $300 (deposit) and asked that they call me the next day with any news, prior to ordering the part. The next day I had to call three times (11am, 1pm, 4pm), they didn't call me as planned. The man on the phone starts off the conversation explaining how my car is very old and in bad shape, setting me up for bad news. Then he starts to go through a list of issues: 1) Confirmed rear dual-muffler system needed to be replaced, 2) Front Right axle was broken, 3) Front & Rear shocks needed to be replaced, 4) Tune-Up was needed with filters, spark plugs, etc..., 5) Front Pads were gone and rotors needed as well, 6) serpentine belt needed to be replaced. This was the 1st caution flag. He said that it was a lot of work, many parts, and a lot of labor. For everything to be fixed it would cost $3,800. I was shocked!!! I went in for a slight noise from the exhaust and now I am presented with a $3,800 cost. He could tell I was shocked, so he started to barter with me saying he could probably get the cost down to $2,300. This was the second caution flag. I mentioned how surprised I was with how many thing were wrong with my car and that I wanted to think about it. At this point, he started turning sour. He instantly asked when I would be picking up the car. It was 5:45pm and they closed at 6:00pm. I work in NYC and said that I wouldn't make it to the shop by the time they close. At this point he told me he would have to charge me a storage fee to keep the car there and $169 for the diagnostic. This was the 3rd caution flag. I told him I would be there first thing in the morning when they open to pick up the car and that he can take the $169 out of the $300 deposit I previously left. The next day I show up at 8:00am, they arrived at 8:20am. My car was left out front, unlocked, with the keys in it all night long. The young guy seems displeased with me and asked how I would pay the $169. I told him to take it out of the deposit and asked him to put the remainder back on my card. He said he was unable to do it and said he could give me $100 cash back. I told him to give me $130 cash, he did and I left. I brought the car to a mechanic that my family uses. A reputable guy, not a wheeler and dealer like Edgewater Motors. He ran through a full diagnostic test, drove the car, and shared with me his results. 1) Rear muffler system was 100% fine. There is a pipe from the engine to the catalytic converter that had a crack in it. This created the noise in the exhaust, but the mufflers were fine. 2) Front Right axle was not broken at all (how could I be driving on a broken axle EM?). 3) Front & Rear shocks were fine. 4) Filters and spark plugs were fine. 5) Brake pads had more than 70% left on them and rotors were flat with no warping or grooves, 6) Serpentine belt was fine. The mechanic reminded me that he had replaced the serpentine belt at his shop when my car was 80,000 miles. My mechanic said that he would have his welder fix the crack in the pipe, add a flexible sleeve, and charge me no more than $200 for the work. He said the cost was mostly labor because of where the pipe was located and that no major parts were needed. I am so glad I got a 2nd opinion. Total will cost me ~$400 to fix the noise on my car, and Edgewater Motors took $169 share of that total cost. These guys are scumbags. They try to rip people off and fix things that are not even an issue. They give you a ridiculously high quote and then start to lower it down to make it more appealing. Do not go here!!!! read more

I waited awhile, and then got in touch with them! They could not have been nicer, more understanding, or more efficient! They ordered the correct tire for my 2019 Jetta, and within a day it was done! They aligned the wheel, and washed and detailed the car! They were very reasonable in price, and very fair! I visited Edgewater Motors on River Rd. after being involved in an accident on 4/8/2021. I googled/ yelped to look for highly rated, affordable mechanics right away and this was the first place I walked into. I was prepared to visit a couple of mechanics that I had looked up, to get an estimate, compare, etc. but after speaking with Matt, the owner, I ended up just leaving the car with him. He was polite, calm, and honest. I had no knowledge about car accidents and after process, but he thoroughly and patiently explained what would be the best for "me". He said, supporting local customers is very important to him. I was impressed at how fast and efficiently he worked too. My insurance did not have rental coverage, but he immediately called the affiliated major rental company and got me an unbelievable deal for one week rental car. He promised that the car will be fixed and ready in a week. Mid week, he sent me in progress photos of the work. Let's be real, what other mechanics do that? The morning of 4/16, car was ready, as promised. Matt has proven that he is a man of his word. I hardly write reviews, but he deserves it, and I highly recommend this place to anyone in need of a good mechanic. read more

I can't say enough for this business. I had a flat in a Hyundai that came without a spare (Salesman said roadside service would come and fix- needless to say, they didn't). I called Edgewater tire to see if they had a doughnut tire and lug wrench to sell me. Instead they sent someone to remove my tire with their lug wrench, and then I drove over to their shop in husband's car. They fixed tire for very reasonable price and sent me back home with a loaner lug wrench!! I had never gone to this business before and they went out of their way to help me! I called up Edgewater Motors for a window tint job for both front windows. The amount they quoted I thought was steep, but considering they were so close to where I work I decided to go ahead with them instead of somewhere cheaper. I brought my car in early on a Monday morning, and had it back by 4pm the same day. When I went to pick up the car I must admit I was not happy with the way the tints looked. The work was perfect, I just didn't like the brand they used. Hadi was very understanding and saw I was not happy at all. I asked for 20% tints and when I got the car I could still see right through from one window out the other. I have had several of my cars tinted before all 20% and this had never happened. He said to give it about 4-5 days to dry and they would get darker, and if I was still unhappy he asked me to bring the car back and he would redo them. I waited the 5 days and they did darken slightly but still I was unhappy with the quality of the brand (LuMar) I brought the car back and Hadi fixed everything free of charge. I did request 3M be used the second time around, but he stated he just doubled up on the Lumar 20%. I was apprehensive but I love my tints now, and overall am happy with the way my situation was handled. Thank you ! read more
