I am a gold member of yelp. I truly believe in giving both honest & accurate reviews. Yesterday I received a $65 ticket for an expired inspection. This rarely happens but lately I've been very busy. I always go to the same vendor but his website stated that they opened at 7am..The only reason I couldn't wait was because I had a 8:30 appointment. I looked on the Website wrote nearby stations & found this one. The website stated it opens at 7am.. Yes it is open as the owner said, "I'm here", with a grin. His mechanics & workers come closer to 8am.. The area was full of trucks, double parked cars very congested. Of course when I got there he was alone & told me to come back. I had pulled into his driveway but he asked me to back up. It was very connected & there was a huge truck with NJ plates parked as I was backing up it was too close. A $27 inspection turned into probably a $700-$800 paint job for my car. Here's the thing be honest on your website when you really start work which is 8am not (7am) when your the only one there. He didn't offer to move my car seeing all the congestion after all it was 7am no employees were there. He offered to comp my inspection when he saw that I was reviewing him. His station, space very disorganized & a $27 comp is not going to help me. Now an expense I do not need or can afford. He should have been more organized & better staffed. My advice to him, Re- write your website, Please be honest. If your a good mechanic/ worker you'll get the business & keep the clients. You'll never see me again ! read more

While visiting nyc my car was in need of major repair. By researching yelp reviews I decided to come here. I called the late afternoon on Christmas thinking I would leave a message, but Ozzy answered telling me to come in early the next day, He listened to the issue for less than a minute knowing exactly what was the issue. I left the car with them and within 2 hours he called telling me the problem and cost for repair. He tried to find ways to cut the fee and called me each day with an update on when the car would be repaired. They stayed late to finish the job so that the next morning I could drive home 325 miles. He showed me the damaged parts and explained how and why it was crucial the repairs were made. The car is now driving well with no issues and my drive home went fine. It is so nice to be able to trust a mechanic when you are an out of towner. Nothing is cheap in nyc for car repairs, but knowing the work will be done correctly and trusting their opinion on what needs to be done is worth a lot. Thanks again for your help. read more

Love this company. Oz and his guys are the best in the biz, they always take me for inspections at last minute or whenever I need. They also help me with any questions I have. I went into manhattan auto repair today and left with a new place to take my car to should i have any issues. I went in for a state inspection and dealt with ozzy. From the start him and team were very friendly and genuine. He ended up saving the day for me, as the previous inspection placr messed my registration up and ozzy and team went above and beyond to helpq, they wanted to help, which is rare these days - not just for the small fee they charged. Drove into the city to meet a friend for lunch this past week and my friend suggested going to his mechanic to check this noise I had noticed driving in which was getting progressively louder. It was so loud they heard us driving up to the shop. Before they even took it in, they noticed I was missing two lug nuts on my rear passenger side wheel. They immediately put it on the lift and said the remaining three were quite loose, on the verge of losing another and the wheel was wobbly. They also checked to see if there was any damage as a result of my driving in from SI. They tightened every single one and moved one lug nut from the front tire to the rear and made sure it would be safe for me to drive home. Ozzy gave me instructions on what to do if I heard the noise again. Most likely this was deliberately done to my car as Richard explained that they shouldn't come loose on their own, especially not all five of them. I truly appreciated how they talked to me like a person with respect and not how most mechanics speak to women. They charged me a nominal fee but it was worth so much more for peace of mind. I have taken my car to Manhattan Auto a few times for oil changes and inspections. They are quick and reasonable. I recently had my breaks replaced. Given the mileage on the car it made sense. The mechanic put the car on the lift and showed me where the breaks were worn. Then they gave me details on the cost break out. They also notice that the battery in my key needed to be replaced and they did it free if charge. They are easy to work with and reliable garage. Never feel like they are selling me something I don't need. I am really happy to have them so nearby. read more

Excellent service. I called at 9 am about replacing the battery and they got the battery by the time I showed up at 3. They fixed it on the spot in 15 minutes and was out by 3:20 pm. My car needed brakes, air conditioning repair and an inspection and this place was great! The shop is on a side street and had experienced repair personnel all being helpful, rather than my experience at large Dealer auto repair shops. They took the car exactly at time I needed to drop it off the next day, gave it a quick check and explained what needed to be done or looked at. They were very professional, friendly and patient. The car was ready the same day in the time they had promised. They reviewed with me the work and found tires that had cracks that needed attention before the blew out. The price was fair and I felt that if there were any issues afterwards, which there were none, they would not charge me again. Not my usual experience. The car works great, and is far safer. i had just finished a 13 hour shift at the hospital and realized immediately after pulling out of the valet employee parking lot that my car had a flat. my car is barely 2 years old and has yet to experience a flat tire. i have no experience with tire changes, nor do i know how long this would take or cost me between shifts. i was expected to work in 10 hours again. i tried to call my employee garage to let them know asap that i'd like to be compensated, but faced a slew of retorts that i must've drove to work with a flat tire, "it's such a common thing". so already, upon entering the manhattan auto, i was filled with dread. i wish i got the names of the two gentlemen who assisted me. the mechanic took one look at my tire and immediately spotted the nail embedded in my car. 10 minutes later, the job was done and my car was as good as new. the price is INCREDIBLY reasonable and the service was spot on. the entire experience was a massive relief. somehow the tire looked shinier post repair. honestly can't believe my minor crisis could be so easily remedied, and in the city no less! my coworkers have all had similar experiences with a flat tire from this lot (admittedly this is my first bad experience). thank god i know where to go now. highly recommend! side note they're cash only so pay a visit to that atm! read more

We brought our car to the dealer after a series of warning/check engine lights went off. Turns out there was a rats nest in the hybrid engine compartment (so, so, so gross) and the rats had chewed through a bunch of wires. After our dealership's body shop said they couldn't/wouldn't fix it, I thankfully found Manhattan Auto Repair.
