The building manager is barely there, so ann old bigoted woman who cannot help you in anyway with anything is the point of contact most days, and the owners are beyond rude. The apartments come dirty, and then they charge you for it when you leave, even if you live there 9 years and leave it spotless. The pool burns your skin because the idiots don't know how to take care of it. The parking lot will give you a flat tire. The elevators break down monthly and it took them a year to fix the one. The list goes on. It's a terrible place to live and you should absolutely never consider this shit hole.

We have a fabulous view. The apartment has lots of natural light and closet space! The whole complex is super clean, renovated and up to date! There is a great gym with a huge selection of fitness equipment. I can't wait till summer to tan by the pool. The best part is the location. I can walk to Whole Foods and do all my grocery shopping! Lakewood is filled with cute fun bars! Living at 1 OAK has made me love Cleveland. I HIGHLY recommend this building. Management also let me know they are installing a Starbucks machine in the lobby!!!

It's been closed for months, and who knows if it will ever open again. The "gym" is I tiny little room with a 1970s bicycle, free weights and treadmill. The hot tub water barely moves around. You'd better use these amenities before 9pm, they lock it up at night. The parking situation is an absolute nightmare. There aren't enough parking spaces, and the board has a man walk through the parking lot between 10-2 at night. What a great feeling to come home in the middle of the night, only to see a man writing down license plate numbers and photographing cars...NOT. even better? The $50 parking ticket you receive for parking where you live! If you have a two year old that wants to walk in the grass and play with the leaves come fall time, don't do it here! If you live in the building and attempt to do ANYTHING outside of your unit with a child, expect a member of the board to approach you and tell you, "this isn't a playground". We're not talking about kids playing baseball, if you literally walk with your child on the property WHERE YOU LIVE, they will tell you that you aren't allowed. If you are an adult human being and enjoy living like you're in a prison camp: this is the place for you. The board members patrol the building like prison guards, constantly telling residents what to do, even if it ISN'T in the bylaws. If you want to live a quiet and peaceful life, and you font bother anyone, and you don't want to be bothered: RUN!

The management company is a bit frugal with regard to modernizing the apartments. Also, they will NOT prorate your rent on move out, which is absurd--so if you move out on July 1st, you pay for an additional 30 days. Also, when my car was blocked into its parking space after hours and I was on call for work, I scraped my car trying to get out (I'm a doctor, have to run to the hospital the second the pager goes off). They had let someone block me in, and I felt they should have paid for it; they did not.

Living at Marine Towers West was okay as long as I didn't not need any assistance with anything. On Dec 23,2021, when the garages collapsed everything changed. Around 1600,I received a called by management which asked if I cleared the building. When I asked what happened they said there is a small issue with the garage and that I would be unable to enter the building for now. I was told nothing further. I had to find out that the garages collapsed through google. I had to call off work and drove a few hours away and stayed with family. Once allowed back into the building there were many issues such as a huge lack of parking, family not feeling safe, friends not feeling comfortable visiting, and lots of construction (paint fumes coming into the apartment vents). I had a lot of trouble trying to find parking since I work 12.5 hour shifts. The apartment complex did offer transportation to off site parking for individuals that work a normal hours (6-8M-F). Unfortunately, I do not have a normal work schedule so I was not able to utilize the transportation services. Thus, I asked if I could move out early and I asked what the cost would be. The management stated I could move out early and there is no charge. However, when I went to put my notice in that I was moving out, management sent me paperwork to sign a few weeks later and stated I would have to pay the remaining lease obligations. When I asked why some of my neighbors were allowed to move out early but I wasn't. I had to email the office twice and the management took well over a week to respond and stated I could only move out early between March and April. Unfortunately, Claire never communicate any of these details to me. I was waitlisted when looking for apartments and then gone on military orders. So, now I am just going to have to keep feeling trapped in an unsafe apartment building. Also, any time maintenance needs to access your apartment which is multiple times a year they do not wear shoe protectors so dirt is frequently tracked in and trash usually gets left behind. I did reach out to the leasing office because one of my rugs was ruined, trash was left on the floor, and multiple lights were left on after maintenance came to work on the bathroom while I was at work. I never received a response from the leasing office regarding the matter. The apartments themselves are older and need to be remodeled badly but that's pretty typical for Lakewood. I just don't think the price charged for rent is worth it since the building is not adequately maintained. Plus, the poor customer service experience I received. I cannot recommend living here to anyone.

I used to work at a construction company cinderblocks are not 100% concrete blocks are a mixture of concrete Then they proceeded to do construction underneath my window for 212 days Table saw tub saw, saw partner saw Makita grinder, top pointing blades, cutting granite, slabs, handheld saws, vibrating the windows and vibrating the unit intensely for 30 to 60 days claiming this is all legal Could not sleep properly for the seven month rental the entire time The intense above Guantánamo Bay torture lasted for approximately 30 to 60 days Construction proceed for 200+ days... The Castlewood Apartments made a deal with the construction worker so they can live on site meaning the workers are living in the building and probably still are to this day What was done to me at the Castlewood Apartments was highly unacceptable It was legal the entire time torturing a torture victim, while taking money from them very insane behavior... The people who worked there are very nice people... The maintenance guy is one of the nicest people I have met in the state of Ohio who works there He's also probably underpaid and underappreciated They basically use him to do everything in the building and yes, he is a black man love all people just being honest how the maintenance man was being treated by the corporate office was very upsetting to me

The master bedrooms are in the center and don't share a wall with neighbors. This helps keep it quiet. - The office staff is wonderful! Sherrie and Lisa are so kind and they always go the extra mile. They try to make the best experiences for residents hosting events, taking care of issues and constantly working to improve the building. If you have any issue, they take it seriously and do their best to handle it quickly. They take the time to get to know the residents and they really care about your experience here. - The maintenance team. Chris and Al are the best! Unlike other places I've lived, they really respect that your apartment is your home. They get to jobs quickly and always ask if there is anything else they can help with. Even if it's just a flickering lightbulb they get to it right away. - You can easily walk to all the best places on Detroit. We have underground parking - that is included in rent - so you don't have to worry about street parking.
